5/1/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA wrote: 92 pointsOne of those magical burgundies. 45 min after opening, beautiful nose full of cherry , complex palate , and a nice lingering cherry finish. Some bracing tannin, but such a joy, it doesn't bother. Seems to add more nuance with every 15 minutes. This would be worthy, but difficult to sit on for years. |

4/24/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA wrote: 87 pointsDisappointing, and over priced. I had a previous, I think it was the 2007, years ago, and loved it . I was expecting a nice Napa version of a Left Bank blend. It's still big, and lush, but somehow reminds me of a Rhone . |

4/22/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 90 pointsA nice affordable Burgundy. The nose struck me as Oregon, but the palate is pure burg. It's very enjoyable now, a touch on the finish is off, brett? . Great burg at $29 at Total Wine. |

4/8/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 90 pointsAbout an hour decant. Nice blueberry, blackberry, cherry nose. Rather subtle for a bordeaux. Taste is smooth and lush,on the thin side. with the same fruit, add leather and a touch of graphite. (ie-typical left bank) Seems older. It has a nice linger on finish, not spectacular. This drinks very well right now, which makes me doubt it can improve much more. enjoyable bordeaux to have now, one of the better I've had in the price range. |

3/25/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA wrote: 93 pointsThis wine is stunning. Power , grace, finesse, depth, and a great lengthy finish. I ended up at a tiny cafe in the Marais, the wine list was divided into 3 price categories , with 50 euros the top. I asked the waitress to recommend one , and the very young owner , came out with this wine. Unfortunately, I could only bring back 2. I'm sure it's very small production, I can't find it. I wish I knew when it's best to drink the last one. |

3/21/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 88 pointsThis is a typical J. Lohr wine. They produce very satisfying ,mass produced, affordable wines. This doesn't seem like petit sirah. I probably would guess Syrah ,if blind tasted. It still is very smooth ,quite balanced, with good mouthfeel. Immensely drinkable, pleasant , and affordable, as I always expect from Lohr. |

3/18/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 90 pointsI think this drinks pretty well , for its youth. Definitely a bargain , and will definitely be better in just a few years. I'd take this over a similarly priced CA cab , any day, just for the character. |

3/4/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 88 pointsthis is enjoyable , and was great with pesto-y chicken pasta, but I had the 2007 a few years ago, and it was superior. There's a slight flaw on the pallet and finish that the 07 didn't have. |

1/22/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA Likes this wine: 90 pointsI gave it 2 hrs decant. I like this wine. Nice nose. On palate fruit is black cherry/currant/blackberry to me , and very subtle lavender and cedar. It's got good finish length. After the decant , the tannins seem to melt somewhat, and it became much more integrated, with nice mouthfeel, on the full side for a bordeaux. drinks well now |

1/7/2013 - FarmerKeith LA/VA wrote: 88 pointsThis tastes like a Rhone wine in the first hour. Total plum/damson overload. I guess it's the heavy cab franc ratio, interacting with the merlot, but this screams Gigondas, initially. |

3/8/2012 - FarmerKeith LA/VA wrote: 92 pointsI love this wine. Lush ,and nicely balanced. The Merlot , and Syrah, add immensely to the Cab , and so the sum is greater than it's parts. I'd say it's a value at 39$, and was a distinct pleasure , from start to finish. I really preferred this , to the next year's release. |
