Really nice. Drinking wonderfully and while it will probably be fine to sit on for 5+ years I enjoyed tasting and smelling it change throughout a long evening. To start, it was soft and elegant with chocolate covered blueberries but later on it was more high-toned cherry fruit with a crisp edge. The whole time it had a wonderful old world perfume. Open now to appreciate the way it progresses throughout the evening with a friend, but save it for a year or two if you want to drink with a crowd as it may go too quick to appreciate how it improves and grows with time.

Neil Martin nailed it! Honest Merlot at a great price. Smells fantastic with notes of cherry juice, chocolate, mineral and some flower I can't put my finger on. The palate isn't too shabby either. The tilia is decidedly soft but isn't without an delicately acidic finish. The cherry syrup flavor lingers. Like the cherry syrup you put on pancakes. This makes it sound very sweet but it isn't. However, old world it is not.

Lives at the intersection of tasty and classy. Has a fruity richness that is tempered by a crisp structure, so that it finishes elegant. Really opened up with air. I did not get many tertiary notes off the wine other than the lovely mineral component, but it is young still and those will come.

My bottle was really old world in style. Tons of mineral, crisp yellow apple; I would have thought this to be something from the macon if tasted blind. Very interesting...

Rich with cherry liqueur and hot cocoa powder notes. A very nice nose with a crushed fennel seed component. All in all, a little spiky for how delicious it is. I have enjoyed other vintages more but perhaps with some bottle age this will smooth out.

Years ago I would have given this a 94 or 95, but I don't drink this style of wine that much anymore: hedonistic, Over the top.
Some great fruit (interestingly enough I can get both blue and red fruit notes) and definite use of oak, but the almost-too-rich quality this wine posesses is tempered by the overall complexity and the fine mist of tannins on the finish.
The next day, however, the wine was completely different. The fruit wasn't as explosive and the oak had integrated into the whole and was not as obvious.
Me, in my twenties, likes the overt and powerful nature of this right now. Me, currently, would enjoy and find this bottle more interesting in a few years.

Too young. Tannic with muted flavors. You can tell it is going somewhere, though. I won't drink my other bottle for a few years.

Wow! Interesting rustic wine. Negroamaro really earns it's name with this wine. Bitter, but not to a fault; Like the bitter pieces of husk stuck in a delicious walnut and a distinct Amaro liqueur note (i.e. herb and spice infused.) A little burgundian underbrush comes and goes as the tannins integrate. Really goes through a roller coaster in the first five minutes. Really dig the nose that has flowers, and a cherry syrup thing going on. Drink now with a rosemary rubbed pork chop.

This wine gave me a "Ratatouille" moment. The nose of honeysuckle flowers took me back to spring time and the wild honeysuckle vines that climbed the fence in our back yard in North Carolina where I grew up. This Sense/memory connection may have cause me to give an extra point to a wine that may not have normally merited it (at least at this time).

Dried mangoes. Good clean acidity. I was very happy. My bottle was still lively but I am not sure how much it would gain from further aging. Pop the cork.

A continuously evolving nose and palate. i think Parker is off on these 09 cdps, not in score, but in when to drink. Flavors and smells kept peaking out only to disappear a moment later. It was tasty, but could be absolutely delicious in a year or two.

Seems this wine is starting to wake up, but very slowly, like a hibernating bear. I would still let this sit for a year or two.

This is a tasting note written from memory as an ode to one of the better wines I have ever had.

When I opened my first bottle of this blend the aromas leapt out of the bottle. Flowers, licorice, earth, and an unnamable smell like the last gasps of an empty perfume bottle belonging to an queen of some exotic, forgotten kingdom.
The flavors were fantastic, with dark chocolate, high-toned black raspberry, and a backbone of charcoal mineral all in balance.
As amazing as the flavors were, the texture was even better. How this panoply of grapes could unify into a liquid with the body and feel of cold, molten glass is a magic trick I cannot figure out.
Since the time when I had this wine this past summer, it has collapsed somewhat. The tannins have come out and the fruit is hiding. I have two last bottles. I am hoping with time this will reemerge.
A more bitter sweet example of the ephemeral nature of all things I cannot conjure in my mind, nor would i want to.

This wine is not shy. Potent sour cherry liquor with a band of milk chocolate throughout the middle. Kinda like one of those chocolate covered cherries that I used to hate, except I like this. I might could confuse this for a saint emilion from a really ripe year. I think it will integrate in time, but it's pretty interesting right now.

salted goat butter, with just a touch of bitter quince on the finish. Not for everyone but will appeal to those who like a good manzanilla.
