Chris brought into Tête. Showed extremely well.
Complex dark olive up front as well as plums, dirty dark red fruit, caramel, burnt vanilla and rich smoked meat. Quite complex and extremely aromatic.
The palate is moderate bodied - not too over extracted. Showed more savory driven dark red fruit, damp forest floor with a touch of dirty moss - herbaceous play.
Great finish. Absolutely in the Christophe style. Recommended.

Chris brought into Tête. Wow did it deliver.
Quick double decant. Gorgeous nose. Culty creme de cassis, dark cherry cola, purple flowers, light gray pepper corns, lots of lovely integrated oak. Couldn't stop smelling this juice.
The palate stood up to the aroma. Complete package material here. Lush silky mouth feel. More dark red fruit, plums and deep rich mocha. A subtle touch on the finish. Absolutely worth the coin. Recommended.

Not the best showing. Hot and rich. Dark spicy purple plums, sweet cassis and some elements of pepper but just over the top for me. The finish is hot and not extremely enjoyable. This showing is a pass. Can't win em all.

What an under the table winner! Yeah, it's not a cheap wine, but this single vineyard cool climate Syrah is killer.
Lovely understated savory dark berries, anise, licorice, wet dog, truffles, herbs and lots of forest floor.
Gorgeous black olive elements. Again, this is layered and extremely expressive but doesn't come across as being rich or weighty.
Again, absolutely on the savory side of the spectrum - reminds me of Pax n Wind Gap Syrah a bit.
At 14.4% alcohol, this is right at the high end of what I tend to enjoy from cool climate Rhone reds. Highly recommend trying this if you can, but maybe not worth the full $75 on the site.

2011 Cambria Pinot Noir Clone 667 Barbara's

Santa Maria Valley more

3/15/2015 - beezer6 wrote: 90 points

A ripe style of Pinot from Cambria's 667 clone. A full bodied effort at 15% alcohol.
Sour, chocolate covered cherries drenched in cola and rhubarb. Anise, brown sugar and molasses dominate the nose.
Palate is well structured but lower acid as a whole and higher alcohol. Doesn't necessarily come across as hot but absolutely not everyone's style of Pinot. A bit much for me but I can still appreciate the lush and velvety textured fruit and nice floral components.

Pretty much popped and poured a little after midnight to ring in my 33rd with Jill with Mason down.
Funky dirty nose. For a second it seemed off but this isn't flawed - it's absolutely ready to drink though.
Damp dirt covered cherries, anise, old tobacco and tarnished leather and a touch of molasses.
Palate has some nice freshness but, again, this is ready to drink. Rustic cherry cola, brown sugar and a bit of funky shrooms.
Finish is moderate plus alcohol, moderate tannins and moderate plus acidity.
Quite a nice wine that is drinking well at this point in its life. With air it showed more fruit and the funk blew off a touch.

Light on its feet. Nice 13.0% abv - comes across a bit tart on the finish, though a nice coastal wine for the price.

100% Cabernet Franc.
Complex and extremely layered. Dark cocoa nibs, black raspberries, Culty, ripe fruit attack. Lots of minerals on mid palate.
Finish is moderate complex. Really cool and probably hard to find as only a touch of this bottling was produced.

Wow, this was the star of the show. Unique earth driven styling. Savory black olives, cured fatty pork, some under ripe plum and touches of smoke.
A great fuller bodied effort that still sported great acidity on the finish. Round without being too extracted. Really nice.

CORAVIN ACCESS #1.
Let this breathe in the glass for an hour or so.
Gorgeous nose. Big rich smoked and cured meat, under ripe raspberry, fresh, new tobacco leaf, anise, fig and road tar - really nice textbook Sonoma Syrah nose.
The palate is actually lighter on its feet than the nose lets on. More red driven fruit and less brooding elements. Moderate plus finish.
Really nice wine. Like to see this in a few years.

Unique varietal. My first experience with St. Laurent. Plush, juicy, yet some savory components. A little bit of smoked meat as well. Reminded me of a light bodied, lower alcohol Syrah in some ways and in a savory styled Pinot in others. A really fun wine that I'd highly recommend to anyone looking for something different and eccentric.

Limited notes. Quick decant. Savory black olive tapenade, dark coal elements. Brooding blackberries. Black as night all the way through. Royal, though wouldn't call this elegant. In line with the other single vineyard K Syrah as being extremely well made, delicious and fun to talk about. After a couple hours this started really opening up. Again, didn't give it proper air or cellar time in my opinion.
