Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Bright maroon garnet, some clarity, bright maroon rim; young, fresh, raspberry, sour plum, tar, sweet tart fruit, vanilla; dusty mineral, tart dark fruit, sour plum, berry, sweet, sappy, deep, some dark fruit, almost some leather, higher acid, beefy, big but nice freshness; more of a Burgundian styled Priorat, very young with nice potential, 91-93.

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Dark crimson, clarity, rusty rim; rusty, metallic, some funk, green, vegetal, kind of tinny, beefy, red currant, plump, wet earth; good depth and texture, funky vegetal and red fruit character like an aged Pegau in a way; interesting, drink soon.

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Darker core with brighter dark red crimson rim; vanilla, inky, glycerin, herbs, mint, menthol, tar, high toned, hard to get past oak treatment; sweet fruit, juicy, vanilla, softer texture, pencil shavings, menthol, dark plum, tar, drying tannin in the back, wood tannin, some red cherry, alcohol on finish; was told somebody rerated this to 100!?; I can't understand how this "special cuvee" from Bordeaux is using oak this poorly treated, they need to fire the cooper and justify the price tag a bit more by using good oak; the wine seems to still be in a dumb phase just as many '05 Right Banks are, not sure if this will come together but now it is quite disappointing, was more popular amongst the New World drinkers.

Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Bright crimson, see through, orange in rim; mint, young, roses, strawberry, firm cherry, sour orange; soft tannin, elegant, juicy, roses, soft light red fruit, focused, young and not delivering a big classic Nebbiolo punch (the Vinturi seemed to bring this out which I liked); reminded me of '10 Martinenga; delicious, 91+.

Almost exact notes to previous tasting 4/11/14; drank over a longer period, extended airtime knocked down some of the exuberant fruitiness and bring out more structure, no oak, like the roasted camphor notes, very slate driven; should do well with some mid term cellaring.

7/26/2015 - Rezy13 Likes this wine: NR

Dark core; nose is very dense and brooding at first lightened only by some black pepper and lavender, loads of garrigue, brambly dark berries, tobacco, after 1+ hour of air the brooding qualities started to fade and the wine became much more accessible- it is good because the seemed not to have evolved at all from extra cellaring, peppered beef dominated the nose later on reminding me of Minervois; the palate showed great density, lots of muscular tannins scraping the back of the palate, mineral, tobacco, wild dark fruit, dark raspberry, very medicinal; at first the wine tasted of a powerful wine from Southern France but the extended air gave it the texture of nice Cotes du Rhone; good QPR I wish I had a case to track over the next 10+ years as I feel it would hold up.

Served blind; 65% Touriga Nacional, 20%Touriga Franca, 15% Alicante Bouschet; Dark maroon with orange hues at rim; nose is bizarre and exotic with prominent dill and vanilla, strong herbal notes reminiscent of Jäger, dried citrus rind and liqueur like red fruit, with more air this became more plum and fig; palate shows soft tannin, rustic, darker roasted fruit, slight Grand Marnier note, with air the palate comes together nicely showing more focus and structure; color was too dark for Tempranillo but the American oak reminded me of Spain, a tough one to call; a nice wine, though I'm not a big fan of the oak I could appreciate this.

Tuesday Night $30-$50 Double Blind (Bin 75): Pretty darker ruby, see through; sweet juicy young Pinot fruit, watermelon, sour dark cherry and cranberry, Kool-Aid quality to the young and exuberant fruit but a dusty mineral component that keeps this serious, penetrating, love the pure fresh roses; good fat, Northern, Gevrey, penetrating on the palate, darker red cherry, focused, intense sweet fruit and floral character with some bitter mineral; delicious; really loved the quality for this level and the fact the producer's style was conveyed so well, swore this was Seuvrees.

Tuesday Night Double Blind <$40 (Bin 75): Dark core, cloudy, maroon rim; intense nose, green, black pepper, sweet and sour, brine, smelling it tickles the back of my throat, velvety texture, mineral; a bit more friendly on the palate, very sour, black pepper is less pronounced, lots of tapenade, granite, salty, sour plum, deeper, plush tannin, high acid is a bit harsh; has this gone through malolactic?, very intense wine reminiscent of the 2007 Equis, tons of character but not very pleasant.
