Black fruity, reasonably polished, absurdly priced. Meh.

Very civilized and easy, mid-weight Bdx style Merlot/CF blend. A touch of spice to it from the Zin but mostly a right bank style.

Rich, almost sweetly tropical nose, slightly creamy. Noticeably RRV but definitely a mainstream version. Tastes like a cocktail to me.

Red Rhone Blend more

8/1/2015 - yofog wrote: NR

Crunchier, and seemingly on a lighter frame, than recent Telegraphes that I remember, but really complex and fine and aromatic. I like this a lot. Classical.

Rounder than some on attack, with ripe citrus, almost tropical notes. Racy on the finish.

Clean, crisp, the fruit not as developed as the '14 but still a good wine for the money.

Maybe a little more on the elegant and wispy side of things, whatever that means. Less ripe and brawny than the 11 (brawny isn't really a good word for either vintage, but). Beautiful grenache-y nose, full of history.

Much more going on than the 12, in my opinion. Great body, great acid, and a complex, lemony and soil-driven profile.

Bright, pale clear ruby, looks like a kriek lambic minus the head. Nose of...resin? You know the kind. Palate follows the nose, plus some cherry/strawberry and leaf. It's...interesting, and really good, actually. Easy and very complex and unique.

7/15/2015 - yofog wrote: NR

Really vibrant and balanced, with a great core of cherry liqueur and tart blue fruits, plus the usual rose and licorice, and only a hint of tar. The tannins are present but supple and not overly aggressive. They must have had some really beautiful healthy fruit coming in.

NV Equipo Navazos Jerez-Xérès-Sherry La Bota de Cream Nº 38 "Bota NO"

Palomino Fino and Pedro Ximénez more

7/11/2015 - yofog wrote: NR

Intense old-solera/old-wood nose, concentrated, with the PX cutting the bitterness and acid you would normally get with something this old. I find the sweetness thoroughly integrated here, so much so as to be almost invisible as such. Reminds me a lot, in its flavor profile, of the Don Gonzalo, even more so than the 1842 (which is the one with PX). Rich, savory, and seamless. Perfect old oloroso dulce.

A fresh, mineral-driven white with elegant structure and notes of white flower, hay, and slightly tropical, but reserved, fruit, broad and caressing on the palate.

Rich and muscular, burnished, little to no oxidation, grilled nuts, dry and salty. I will say that the mousse could be more refined. With air it improves, even seems to get longer and saltier. Wish it was a magnum simply because I wanted more. Great stuff.

2010 Cappellano Barolo Piè Rupestris Otin Fiorin (Gabutti)

7/11/2015 - yofog wrote: NR

Took a 5 or 6 hours to open up at all, but one could tell from the get go that it was really serious, with fine, robust tannins and really incredible length. Great definition, complexity, and depth are immediately apparent. Later that night, it has opened up enough to reveal a really broad, brawny wine, a picture perfect example of old-school Serralunga, with tar and tobacco notes, really muscular without being over the top, and a classic transparent rusty brown color. So classic, it feels like you're drinking the Piedmont version of a Tondonia, Imperial, or an 890. The length is unbelievable, the taste stays so long and so strong that you hardly know you've swallowed.

7/7/2015 - yofog wrote: NR

Rich, creamy, luxurious fruit here, in fact I would complain of a lack of acidity but it's so lipsmacking, I think the acid is there it's just not the focus of this particular bottling. This is super young, and I think will age just fine in a mellow, mouthfilling style.

There's still a youthful spritzy quality here, and sulfur, and the fruit is just, so so young, with an intensity of flavor but also a light, filigreed quality. Long, long finish.

As I would expect from a Volnay from 07, this is all about grace, but there's also a remarkable depth of flavor and vinous core here, with raspberry, cocoa, nut, and game qualities. Really pretty and could even do with some more bottle age.

Seems like a bretty nose at first, but then it seems like it's just reduced. It's a good funk, anyway, (think Cameron pinot), though it does cover a lot of the fruit. Tangy and savory with a good amount of depth.
