Ehhhh. Disjointed, some method in the nose and palate which I dislike. The nose become more expansive and floral/peppery with time, but not what I was hoping for.

IMO, this is entering the prime time maturity plateau. Decanted for 1 hr, consumed over 2 hrs. Cherry, tobacco, some scorched earthy scents. Really fresh. Nice depth with a gorgeous velvety texture, makes me want more. The structure is clearly evident but in no way protruding. The finish really lasts. Very happy to still have a few left. Should go another 10 yrs.

Last time I had this wine, the 2011, was about 1.5 year ago. Floral, rose water aromatically. Somewhat heavy in the mouth with rich passion fruit flavors. Lacking the acidity and nervosity that I loved in the 2010. The wine manages to still appeal but not a rebuy.

Saline, mineral, lemon zest. Diggin' the texture of this wine. Very food versatile. Cuts the fat. Long and delicious. Love this stuff. The Amina seems more floral, richer in fruit, plenty of acidity and brightness.

Stone fruits and cream brulee. Some acidity but wished there was a little more. God but not great. This was a Garagiste buy and looking back at the note I have to chuckle a bit, "...rising to the top of the pack and that was against sublime efforts like Huet’s Cuvee Constance." and "...they didn’t make very much of this and we could only get a small amount - a wine that is in another league." Paired with Cabrales.

2000 Domaine du Pégaü Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Réservée

Red Rhone Blend more

4/18/2015 - Gregg G wrote: NR

This wine is like an old pair of jeans. Comfortable, reassuring and relaxed. Just a beautiful wine showing all the classic elements of CdP. The fruit has matured and this wine is in it's glory days (though it really never shut down since its release). The Pegau funk is there yet not nearly as funky as other vintages (again something I enjoy rather than criticize). Structurally, this wine retains acidity with resolved tannins and a velvety mouth feel. Served blind, guesses were Italian and Rhone. In a flight with 00 Janasse Chaupin. Paired with wild boar shoulder, hoisin, mushroom foam.

Grenache more

4/18/2015 - Gregg G wrote: NR

The last of a 6 pack and a joy to watch this wine develop over the years. This wine always surprises as this domaine somehow gets the 100% Grenache nicely concentrated and dense yet maintains its balance. The fruit is on the darker side but remains true to CdP form with garrigue, olives and raspberry. Very nice length and finish. Served blind, guesses got rhone. In a flight with 00 Pegau Reserve. Paired with wild boar shoulder, hoisin, mushroom foam.

2001 Domaine Denis Bachelet Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes

Pinot Noir more

4/18/2015 - Gregg G wrote: NR

This had some funk. Surprising for Bachelet. For some the brett was powerful but it didn't bother me and few others. I concede though the wine suffered a bit as the fruit was rather muted. It's a shame as I've had this wine several times and I believe it to be one of the great village wines and was steal on purchase. Served blind, guesses were mixed between Burg & Rhone. In a flight with 01 Jadot GC Cazetiers. Paired with wild mushrooms a la plancha, duck jus, heirloom carrots, eucalyptus.

A nice wine showing it's age. Aromas of cherries, some baking spice with a touch of damp forrest floor. Tart red fruits fill in the flavors. Decent length with good supporting structure. Not a stunning wine but a reliable Gevrey. Served blind, guesses nailed Burg, but not the commune. In a flight with 01 Bachelet GC VV. Paired with wild mushrooms a la plancha, duck jus, heirloom carrots, eucalyptus

A fantastic wine. Beautifully layered and complex. This wine is simply a joy to drink. Plenty of fruit with a powerful mid palate, yet presented in a classy way. I love this producer as there is rarely a poor showing. Served blind, guesses ranged from domestic Chard to white rhone. In a flight with 95 Kalin Chardonnay LD. Paired with sea bream, jamon broth, english peas, poached egg.

Unfortunately, this was not a good showing. It was maderized/sherried so the flavors were masked. Very deep/rich golden with a slight copper hue. It was dissapointing as I've had better versions from Kalin and like them when they're on. Although served blind, there was no point in guessing. In a flight with 08 Boillot PM Perrieres. Paired with sea bream, jamon broth, english peas, poached egg.

2004 Jean-Paul & Benoit Droin Chablis Grand Cru Les Clos

Chardonnay more

4/18/2015 - Gregg G wrote: NR

Started out somewhat muted. Overtime this developed into classic Chablis aromas. As is typical with this producer, the oak is still evident as there is a bit of creaminess on the back end. The wine showed well once it opened. The mid and finish are very full and lengthy. Not my favorite producer in Chablis, but certainly a unique one. Served blind, a few got it was Chablis. In a flight with '04 Pepiere Briords. Paired with spring vegetables, preserved lemon, potato, vadouvan oil.

This was singing. Showing some age as the acidity has rounded a bit. Lemon curd, slightly nutty and herbal, the flavors changed over time at times more herbal and then becoming more lemon citrus. Served blind most thought this was CdB Burg. In a flight with '04 Droin Clos. Paired with spring vegetables, preserved lemon, potato, vadouvan oil.

Purchased in 2010, but we couldn't find the disgorgment date, this has been in my cellar for 5 years. Tastes like aged champagne, with brioche, butterscotch and some truffle. What it lacks for in crispness and cut, it makes up with complexity and nuance. A nice start, paired with salt cod fritters, lemon cream.

Not a trace of premox. Very light straw yellow color. Amazingly young. Shy nose with some crushed flowers and citrus. Fevre signature concentrated salinity and minerality. The fruit is bit shy behind theimpressive structure. Seems like a serious vin de garde.
