I think we drank a bottle of this 5 or 6 years ago and it was still closed , tannic and not ready for business. Now it is in a good place, not much on the nose but everything else fine and enjoyable. Enjoy!!

Understated and elegant. Lovely aromatics straight from a pop and pour. I think a bit better than the 2004.

Down to just 3 bottles now and just popped. Wonderful stuff. After about 2 hours in the glass the aromatics opened up. Day 2 even better. Will it get any better? I don't think that I will ever find that out, the last bottles will not last very long.

Opened a few hours before dinner. Still quite tannic but smooth and approachable. Not as formidable as either 1998 or 2001 at the moment but non the else very enjoyable.

Cant keep away from this one even though it should have a long life ahead! It does take a while to show so I took the cork out about 10am and we drank it the following day with lunch. Quite delicious!

Opened and poured and then consumed over 2 days. Better on the second day but marginal. Very well integrated with smooth tannins. Lovely understated Bordeaux. I think/hope that it will be even better in another 5 years.

We pulled the cork about 5 hours before we tackled this magnum.
I was very pleasantly surprised how well it has held up and how balanced and charming it was. The wine improved throughout the evening, so plenty of life ahead but possibly at its best now.

A lovely Pomerol that shows immediately. The finish is a little short. I had my doubts given the vintage and poor write ups from the experts about this particular chateau but if you can find it at the lowly current price I think a bargain. I prefer to many 2004s at 2x the price.

Opened 4 hours prior to dinner. Lovely fragrant nose and then cherry mocha notes.
Smooth tannins and so so balanced. Still needs a couple of years to peak and maybe then a decant. Anyway just 2 bottles left of this case and very optimistic for them!

We popped it and poured and enjoyed the full fruit and good balance.
Half of the bottle was left behind for a day and I expected it to fade way but rather than that it improved! Sweet tannins, not a profound wine but absolutely delicious and a good time now to drink it.

Delicate mature delicious. The nose is past its best but the mid palate and finish just wonderful and so minerally. We gave it an hour decant and then it just got better and better. If you can risk it give it longer than the hour but be warned it does not need it and is in a very good place right now.

So once again a couple of bottles tried at different times but within the week.
The first decanted for about 4 hours and disappointing.
Give it a generous 92 points but improving steadily as it was drunk over several hours.
The second bottle decanted just an hour was superb straight out of the traps as it were. It never lasted that long but scored at least 96. A wonderful bottle that made me wish for more and in a way regret all those drunk earlier over the years.

From a Magnum. Lovely minerally opaque CDP. Just popped and poured for Sunday lunch. Its all come together after 18 or so years in a fantastic way and renewed my belief in CDP as an age worthy wine. That said its drink up time.

3 hour decant. Pretty tight still with some camphor notes showing on the nose. On the palate its still quite tannic and the fruit is slightly fading.
I would guess another 3/5 years to show its full potential and then it could turn into something altogether better.

Its a POP! I would advise drinking up over the next 5 years. A wonderful wine thats is so balanced, so full and so good on the mid palate.There is not much of a nose which may be a reflection of the hot year but everything else is spectacular. I have tried a few 2003s that have suffered from the heat but this is nothing like that. A perfect St Julian 2003.
