Apples, pears and apricots, with a little bit of bread dough complexity. A very well balanced wine. Not quite as crisp or mineral-driven as some Chablis or other white burgs, but softer in a very good way. Still a lively acidity to carry the wine forward. Really an exceptional Chablis.

4th bottle in a year. All consistent, very high fills and good corks. This wine is good, but lacks some balance. The fruit is receded behind the acidity and minerals, and it displays a little heat on the palate. It has a nice nose of berries, brambles and flint, but fails to deliver what is promised on the nose. Needs a good rich meat dish with rich, fatty sauces. Quite open from the get-go, may gain some fruit with about 30-60 minutes, then starts to recede again. Can't give it less than 90 because it is a well-made wine. It just doesn't go anywhere great, and I doubt it will improve with age, except that it may develop some interesting cedar and tobacco flavors.

Very grippy tannins that might be tamed with another 5-10 years. Decanted for a couple of hours and not much change. Nice underlying structure and fruit, but I'm not sure the fruit will survive the time needed to mellow the tannic grip.

This surprised me, as it has been siting in my cellar for a few years. I thought it might be deteriorating, but it was very enjoyable. Dark purple with no bricking, but not as dense as a Cabernet. Medium-slow legs. Nose of plums and tropical fruit with a little raisin, some cotton candy, bubble gun and tobacco. The high alcohol content is obvious, but does not overpower with heat. The mouthfeel is full with grippy tannins. Initially plums and dark berries, followed by tobacco raisins cedar and a hint of menthol or eucalyptus. Mid palate comes with some acidic lift and citrus notes and spice, followed by a long finish of orange tobacco and tannic grip. Some port character, but in a good way. Best after about an hour exposure to air.

A little tight and a bit more astringent than other vintages. Still good, but needs some air to smoothen things out and let the fruit emerge.

3rd of 4 bottles purchased 2014 ex cellar. This was a very nice old wine - best of the 3 I've consumed. Similar to first bottle, but with more fruit. 2nd bottle was a little tired. This bottle: Long legs, medium bricking. Nose of cherries, cedar, mint and florals. Medium mouthfeel with good acidity and and nice primary fruit, cherries and orange peel. Fruit continues with minerals, cedar, tobacco and leather in the mid-palate and finish, with lemon and orange emerging more and a lingering ceder/minty note. Long finish. Very enjoyable!

5th bottle, paired with coffe-encrusted and seared sous vide cooked tenderloin filets with ancho chili sauce. A challenging dish to pair with, but the CVNE was OUTSTANDING! Same notes as previously, since every bottle has been boringly consistent: Classically styled reserva Rioja. Smoky oak and vanilla mixed with cherry and strawberry nose. Cherries jubilee. Well structured with a focused start of acid and tart cherries that blooms into the flavors of the nose along with cedar leather orange peel spice and mushroom. The oak and vanilla carry through but are well integrated and not overpowering. Long finish of the core cherries jubilee and smooth polished tannins. This is an extremely well made Rioja in the classic style. If you like Classic Rioja you will not be disappointed.

The wine has medium acidity. It smells like black currant (cassis), flint, lavender, rose, plum, eucalyptus and cherry. The wine finishes long. It tastes like blackberry, black currant (cassis), cherry, apricot, eucalyptus, mineral and bell pepper. The wine looks purple colored. The legs are slow. There is no sediment in the bottle. The wine has polished texture.

Wow! Pop and pour- bam! Lovely blackberry bramble and oak with some minor vanilla undertone on the finish. Big bold mouthfeel with expansive mid palate and grippy tannin finish with secondary notes of cinnamon and nutmeg. Kind of a blend of new world fruit and old world acidity and structure underpinning the whole thing. Drink now - it's in a prime window, although it has the structure to lay down another decade.

Not up to the 2005 or some recent vintages. A little heavy on the oak and tannins and light on the acid. Consequently, the fruit is a little mushy. I'm a big Corison fan and this vintage disappoints in its lack of structure. Of course, in being picky. It's still a very nice wine. Just not what I expect from Cathy's wine.

Light ruby with no bricking. Medium legs. Some earth and mushrooms on the nose with dark fruit. Red fruit on the palate including strawberry and cranberry, with bramble and hints of white pepper on the mid-palate. Fresh with bright acidity and well-balanced. Smooth and refined mouthfeel with integrated tannins. Medium-long finish with just enough grip to make it interesting and lingering bramble.

Medium ruby, medium legs and almost no sediment in the bottle. A bit of bret/funk on the nose that obscured the wine initially. After an hour decant, cranberries and tart cherry, but not giving up much charm. I poured back into the bottle after one glass and put some nitrogen in. Another glass two days later and finished the bottle three days later ... what a difference! I had almost written the wine off after the first night, but after sitting a few days, the bret was gone, and lovely fruit, bright acidity, some graphite and gravel and a long lingering finished emerged. I would say this wine needs a good 4 hour decant, a double decant overnight or an all day slow ox.

30 minute decant. Medium purple/red color with no bricking, medium legs. On the nose - cassis, strawberry, eucalyptus, lavender, blackberry, blueberry and oak. Cassis, plum, blackberry and pomegranate on the palate, with a prominent but well-balanced note of oak. Nice purity of fruit with good acidity. Mid-palate brings some minty notes, a little pepper and spice, and hints of nutmeg and cinnamon, with cassis and oak continuing along with pronounced firm yet smooth tannins. Very long finish with lingering berries, cassis and black cherry.
