11/25/2021 - Wine Gent wrote: 87 pointsBeyond prime. Waited just a bit too long to open this bottle. One dimensional, with minimized flavor and finish. Much better in 2017 when tasted and bought at the winery. Tasted with crab cake salad with lemon and tri-tip sandwich at Paso Robles winery. |

10/8/2021 - Wine Gent Does not like this wine: 70 pointsI did not like it, wife did. Bouquet earthy, mangled overripe fruit, not notable. Tastes like strange mixture of a cheap Syrah / Sangria. Not a Pinot Noir! Excessively sweet with unpleasant sweetish sour fruity finish. It was a gift, so no qualms about not drinking any more. |

2020 Wilson Creek White Cabernet Sauvignon Temecula Valleymore |
9/22/2021 - Wine Gent Likes this wine: 90 pointsUnusual white Cab. Color very light rose. A surprising find! Excellent value at $11 / bottle. Bouquet complex, floral, spice, citrus that is alluring and captivating. Taste complex when paired with light foods - moderate to light cheeses, rosemary ham, garlic / onion jam, toasted lightly spice pita & crackers. Will keep bottle in cellar when possible. Easy to quaff - a nice comfortable summer wine. |

2019 Wilson Creek White Cabernet Sauvignon Temecula Valleymore |
5/28/2021 - Wine Gent Likes this wine: 90 pointsVery good value. Enjoyable, unusual light summer wine. White Cabernet Sauvignon from red grape - has a very light pinkish complexion, in a dark blue glass bottle. Wonderful bouquet with complex floral, fruity combo that is strikingly alluring. Taste sweet, vanilla, cinnamon, melon, sweet strawberry, and a soft tangy end note. Light body, moderate finish. Could easily quaff a bottle. Bought 4 more bottles after this first one. Not normally a fan of Temecula, CA wines, but this was tasty and pleasant. |

4/23/2021 - Wine Gent Likes this wine: 90 pointsSame as previous 2015 vintage - Not as robust or complex as Napa or Sonoma Cabs, but among the better Paso Robles Cabs. More a fruity than a peppery Cab. Good alone or paired with food, but has some limitations in accentuating food to improve. Opened up improved over the next week. Good 5 cent sale buy from BevMo. |

2018 Daou Vineyards ChardonnayPaso Robles more |
4/9/2021 - Wine Gent Likes this wine: 90 pointsGood Chard, would buy again. Wonderful bouquet that is sweet, complex with both fruity and floral balance that just hugs the nose. Hard to break away from smelling, to tasting. Taste is Balance between new and old world Chard, as another reviewer said. Our first bottle of Daou but we tasted several moderate tier to high end tier wines at the Paso Roble winery, and were moderately impressed. |

2016 Turley Zinfandel JuvenileCalifornia more |
3/28/2021 - Wine Gent Likes this wine: 90 pointsTasty full bodied enjoyable Zin. Moderate complexity. Bouquet plum, berries, vanilla, cinnamon, cookie dough, with leather undertones that hint of Pinot Noir nuances. Taste bold and balanced, berries, cinnamon, with whispered hint of cayenne pepper (spice, not heat) on moderate finish. Pairs well with mild to moderate cheeses, meat, and fish / shrimp - versatile. Very drinkable alone. Great value at $18. Has aged well with improvement since bought in 2018 at Turley winery on vacation in Paso Robles area - see our Tasting Stories of all wineries visited in Paso Robles. Now a fan of Turley! |

3/5/2021 - Wine Gent Likes this wine: 89 pointsConsistently good vintner and value. Smooth, moderate complexity, and enjoyable alone or paired with fish, pasta, and light meats and cheeses. Less buttery finish than other previous vintages, but still tasty. Keep a bottle in our cellar. |

2017 Louis Latour Pouilly-FuisséChardonnay more |
1/24/2021 - Wine Gent wrote: 88 pointsBouquet and taste lightly sweet fruitiness, Apple, vanilla, mineral, with surprising delayed pleasant light to moderate buttery finish. A small bit of sharpness on front end. Texture light, smooth. Adequate complexity to complement a meal with a range of light tastes. Second experience with this varietal, but impressed enough to continue purchasing more - reminds us of Burgundy trip with some wonderful French Chardonnays - this one is in mid range quality. Good wine for Poultry. Previously had with Thanksgiving meal, and leftovers several days afterwards. Good pairing with chicken on socca bread, turkey, stuffing, mashed sweet yams, mashed potatoes with light gravy, and French brioche rolls. |

1/1/2021 - Wine Gent Likes this wine: 92 pointsConsistently good. Same note as last bottles in 2018 and early 2020 - Great wine, very good value for $16 / bottle. Sweet, apple, pear, vanilla, full taste, medium body, medium finish, smooth, slight buttery finish which increased over several days. Great by itself. Pairs well with several cheeses and medium to light red and white meats. Reminds me of a fantastic French Moelleaux wine from Chateau Chenenceau in Loire valley. Drank over several days including New Year’s Day and it stayed consistent. Will always keep some in our cellar. |

12/31/2020 - Wine Gent wrote: 84 pointsNew Year’s Eve celebration, and 2 days after. Seems beyond its prime. May need to drink this wine 3 to 4 years from release. Disappointing for a wine valued at $45 / bottle and high ratings. Glad it was a gift and I did not spend any money on it. Some lingering hints of possible past quality in bouquet and taste, with some clove, vanilla, and glimmers of spice on short finish, but nothing notable enough to recommend. Paired moderately well with charcuterie, but could not stand up to steak. Interesting enough to finish the bottle, but would not buy or recommend. |
