12/31/2021 - jasonrsa wrote: 87 pointsAt the end (if not slightly past) despite the good, active mousse; dark straw in color. Marzipan, sherry, and some slightly burnt applesauce (?) notes - an odd astringency I didn’t enjoy. Medium- to medium finish. I don’t recall loving any of my 4 bottles (this is the last) but this was a bit disappointing on NYE. |

9/5/2021 - jasonrsa Likes this wine: 91 pointsWas worried that this would be past peak but it’s drinking wonderully right now. Into decanter and drank over 2.5 hours. Didn’t live up to its nose upon opening, but this is delicious Margaux. Some faint bricking. Purple fruits and some earth and cedar. Medium- finish. Do you find this review helpful? 8/1/2021 - jasonrsa Does not like this wine: 85 pointsNo formal note but disappointing. Just not much going on. Muted nose; unfocused black (?) fruit; short finish. Drank over course of the evening but never opened up into anything I would seek out again. Generally like the Papa Perry style, but this was not a winner. |

2018 Sabelli-Frisch Mission La MalincheLodi Mokelumne River more |
3/8/2021 - jasonrsa Likes this wine: 91 pointsPnP. My first Mission and really interesting - surprised by the light, slightly dusty, ruby color, particularly after taking the first sip. Juicy red fruits with some floral notes. Med+ acid. Bit of an agave / anejo tequila taste on the finish with moderate- oak presence; touch of interesting, very slight sweetness (not cloying or unpleasant in the least, but it's there). Drinks really nicely now and I think there is enough tannin for a few more years, but I see no reason to wait. |

12/25/2015 - jasonrsa wrote: 92 pointsDrinking really nicely now; easy pop and pour. No formal tasting note. Was gone on secomd day, so drink up. Had side-by-side with 2008 Terrace Neuma Sonoma Coast and this was the unanimous favorite. |

12/31/2015 - jasonrsa wrote: 88 pointsLiked this one much better at the tasting room. A dusty brick red with purple hints in the glass. Strawberries and tart cherries on the nose and continuing onto the palate with crushed herbs. Rounded, muted in the mouth. Medium finish. |

8/15/2015 - jasonrsa wrote: 90 pointsNice right now, but piggybacking on the immediately prior note, the heat is still there. Prime example of the Turley style. Not my favorite, but enjoyable for what it is. Deep, dark, just-ripened fruit; tannic backbone (even at almost 10 years); and heat (15.3% per the bottle, and it wouldn't surprise me if it were pushing the upper end of the permissible range). |

7/11/2015 - jasonrsa Likes this wine: 89 pointsPop and pour at a casual restaurant. Deep, murky purple in the glass. Classic RRV nose, finish had some surprising and substantial leather and oak notes. Fruit has faded a bit, but still drinking nicely and will go for a bit yet. |

5/2/2015 - jasonrsa Likes this wine: 94 pointsWonderful right now. Becoming a dusty, dull brick red in the glass with some hints of purple. Didn't take detailed notes, but had some classic RRV notes of cola and bing cherries with Burgundian elegance. Some crushed herbs on the nose, and faint spice on the medium-long finish. Expensive for RRV but stands out. |

2/7/2015 - jasonrsa wrote: 83 pointsStill a very ripe fruit bomb 7 years in. Not much to the note beyond that -- everyone knows what these are like, and I didn't take formal notes. If you're into this style, it's a good value (and a great winery to visit with nice folks pouring). |

2/5/2015 - jasonrsa wrote: 89 pointsMedium ruby in the glass. Sandalwood earthiness on the nose, with a touch of alcohol. Brambly fruit and ripe plums on the medium-long finish, with a pleasant lingering acidity. A bit hot -- I suspect that this pushes 15%. Pinotage is evident (couldn't put my finger on it, but read the winery's tasting notes, and now it smacks me in the face even though it's only 4%). |

1/20/2015 - jasonrsa wrote: 86 pointsGreen nose, with some damp forest aromas and secondary hints of leather and hidden fruit that turned oaky and meaty as the wine opened. Some brick red on the edges of deep reddish-purple in the glass. Medium-thin mouthfeel with moderate mouth-drying tannins. Short finish with an unpleasant chemical aftertaste. |

7/24/2013 - jasonrsa Likes this wine: 96 pointsExceptional bottle and drinking beautifully. Golden yellow with medium-fine bubbles and still plenty of action. Mushrooms and stewed pears on the nose, hints of sherry, pears and apples on the palate with some almond. Delicious with lighter starters, but accompanied entire meal well. Beautiful, memorable wine (wife's 35th birthday!), and sad to have finished our last bottle of it. |
