Good cork pull but about 3/4 infiltrated but not degraded. Legs ran fast and fat. 1st day the wine was subdued, muted, and not giving up much but the true pinot noir grape flavor. Was soft and easy to drink and a bit bitter on the finish. very transparent and no one aspect overshadowed another. Day two, this was a different animal. Really nice fruit came forward, brighter acid too. Cherry perhaps? Finish lasted about a minute. Still soft but flavor on fully half of tongue, front half mostly. Th faintest remnant of drying tannins present. Fruit not overwhelming like American pinot but very balanced. This 2005 took a good day to show itself. I don't know how to predict further aging. Taking a full day to reveal the potential seems to indicate there is life left but this is a softer style of wine, very pretty actually. I liked the fact that day 1 the raw pinot grape profile was showing, then evolved into nice easy going fruit. I would buy this again and plan on drinking this in stages.

Rich berry bouquet, perhaps blackberry and grape mix. Cork pulled well and stained dark purple with the beginnings of infiltration on the sides, but otherwise good integrity. Nice fruit, not quite as intense as the astounding 2006, but no slouch either. Coats the mouth and slows you down in consuming because there is so much going on for taste. Raspberry flavor, and a bit tart on the back of tongue, then the flavors keep soaking into tongue for finish of a good minute. Didn't let sit in glass as was consumed at barbecue. Alcohol was not really parent as it was well hidden by the generous fruit that kept emerging, but it was there and snuck up on me about a half hour or so down the road, and in the span of 5 minutes. I don't quite recommend consuming this wine like I did at bbq. It should be allowed to sit in glass and develop. Recommend and 10 years more life.

The cork again stood up (yea!) but there was about 1/3 infiltration, which makes me want to consume my remaining bottles sooner rather than later. Bouquet of peach yet the taste was pear. Not as viscous as my first bottle in 2009, but that was a gold capsule wine and this is not. Back then I said wouldn't touch one for another 10 years but came up a bit short. Still, really decent wine. Sweetness reminds me of ice wine. No sharp edges, no sulphur odor, just pure delicious sweetness with predominant flavor of pears and lighter secondary of peaches. The wonderful sweet taste was not in any way cloying; it stayed for several seconds, then fades away and just left the fruit as reminder. Fellow drinkers commented on the deep golden color, and speculated if I gave them a urine sample instead. I prefer to keep then guessing. Had on a hot day so it warmed up quickly but as it did the flavors came out. Did not have luxury to taste over extended time so can't describe if wine was evolving; my guess it might have a bit. Recommended and now have 1 of this wine and 1 gold capsule. I think there was a mixup in my order(s), as the first bottles I received were gold caps and the second wasn't. The main difference between the two is the gold cap had this elixir like viscosity that was amazing. Age 10 years more but is drinking really well right now at its 10 year mark. Serve this wine well chilled then let it slowly warm up to experience the change and intensification of flavor.

Solid pull, no infiltration of cork. Bouquet leaped out of the bottle, heady and thick. Taste to me was predominately syrah so I will be surprised if someone indicates primary component is grenache. this flavor is intense without the wine being thick and super extracted, a nice achievement. first set of legs ran like turkeys, then slowed down eventually to a medium slow crawl. Lost some intensity when stored overnight in bottle but still very good. High alcohol too but did not hamper this tasting but got me a nice CdP buzz just the same. There is a dense flavor here; theres have indicated cassis and raspberry. I detect a bitter finish at back of tongue. Was pleased with wine but can't predict years left. Think it will do 5 years easy.

This wine surprised me. It was just about as good at this level as many German made reselling wines. It was light yellow in color. I tasted of pear and grapefruit and had that nice dieseling semi-bitter taste. it lasted all weekend in an opened bottle in the fridge with little loss of fruit. Based on this tasting, I would not hesitate to buy another NY wine again.

Very nicely balanced wine at this stage of it's life. Acidity and fruit just about perfectly matched. A smoothness in balance and yet it feels dense at the same time, like I was drinking something at a higher SpG. Nice finish that lasted over 20 seconds. Fruit had a touch sweetness which let me know it was still hanging around, yet the additional age has brought out a structure. This was pleasant to enjoy on it's own. I know their RRV always seem to trail behind their Sonoma offerings but I have to wonder if the RRV's need a good 6-10 years to develop, as I suspect they may have more tannins and skin that requires time to chemically combine. And the wine deepened in flavor over the time we enjoyed it. CT says I'm a year over but this is not at all over the hill. My lone solder in the cellar may have to be tried in another 2-3 and I have confidence it will be ready to muster. Recommended.

The cork seemed a little soft and spongey but still pulled good. As this is a Spanish wine, i expected it to taste more like a Rioja; it didn't, not entirely. this wine is blended from al across Spain and with different varieties and today it tasted like that.I couldn't place it exactly but regardless it was very decent and smooth. the tannins that i experienced in my tasting last year seem to have integrated. And after a hour in the glass, the wine changed and became crisper and more focused and the fruit intensified. This would go well with meat dishes and perhaps even pizza. I'm going to take my time with the remaining bottles and stretch out consuming them over the next five years. Recommended.

Had over two days. Fruit has diminished but more complex flavors are present. Not bereft of fruit. Cork broke up but wine stayed well. Very floral bouquets and a grape drink flavor. Not a detraction because not syrupy or overdone, just detectable. Felt dense on the palate as if the fruit had changed to deeper flavor and structure. A nice surprise for and '06.

This was a fantastic wine. first cork broke in half and had to extracted like a sebaceous cyst, but it did it's job preserving the wine. Golden in color and when light passing through bowl of wine glass, a hint of green. Sweet and luscious, apple the main player, but finish was...grape jelly! Never had a Riesling do that. Each sip was a sweet wonder and it's hard to believe this was a $23 wine. If this would have been thick and unctuous i would have rated it higher, but the flavor was all there. Everything you would want to ask of a Riesling. i have no idea how much further it will go, but the fruit is incredible right now, and ask 5 years might not be out of the questions.

Nice wine. Fruit is still holding up but there are earlier elements now present. This is not bright or acidic as a result, which is okay as this is a mature wine. Having a hard time placing flavor but it is either cherry or blackberry. There is life left in this as the fruit is still present, say three years.

Nice cork pull, stained just on the bottom, no infiltration, but ugh...the first sip was incredibly tannic. If I was a novice I would have poured this down the drain. But the key word is patience. this wince changed so much dung the time I opened it and pure into the glass. First thing it did was to lose all the tannic harshness, then the fruit came forwards and I became a beautiful and balanced wine. I feel this wine on the tip of the tongue and in the back of the throat. It's potent at 16+%. The reason I opened is CT indicated this only had one more year of life left. I don't think that's true but I can see why; the alcohol is high. This is not a PNP by no means. This wine needs time but I think it's at a good place right now given the fact that it took less that 1-2 hours to come around. I have more left in a corked bottle that I will taste tomorrow and I'm expecting it will be even smoother still. I can't place it as to where it might come from like I can with other regions, and that wasn't the case with my previous Delectus samplings. Those had a silkiness to them while this is balanced now

Solid pull on cork, very dense yet the additional age has rounded this wine. There is a greater balance between the fruit and tannins, with other denser elements emerging. This may seem odd, but it felt thick without really being thick or mouth coating. This time around, wine was more about meat and earth and secondary flavors.I think Carlisle along with Tensley may be some of the better mid level Syrahs being produced today. I think this wine was just about in a perfect place tonight and could probably hold onto this level for 2-3 years more. Recommended.

softish cork but kept it's integrity beautifully. Cork stained almost black. Still tannic and takes it's time to open up. A superb steak wine as it will cut through the fat and grease like a hot knife through butter, and soft butter at that. Deep dark color, and very smooth, and powerfully alcoholic, but you won't know it until you stand up to go to the bathroom. Very nice Toro offering. As smooth as it is a lot of interesting flavors. Recommended. Was surprised CT has this 2004 to 2025 but with these tannins still in circulation, can see it. Recommended and has a good 5 years of life left, if not more. Fruit did begin to emerge but it will take it's time. See why other drinkers are giving it a good decant and the 1 day rest might not be a bad thing. I say drink some one day one but save a good bit for day two. Last glass had good chunk of sediment too.

Brought to a BYOW restaurant for anniversary dinner. Beautiful ruby color, I mean almost glowing. Massively heavy bottle. Was muted at first and seems restrained. But as the night went on the fruit began to creep out. And it is this later stage which I am rating higher. Very well balanced. Nothing out of place with alcohol, fruit, and restrained oak. The suit began to intensify and would have keep on doing so and I would have most certainly rated it even high still..but by that time we had a dead soldier. This was my first HSS and I had high expectations given all the ratings here, but I can see that the right way to have this wine is to let it breath and plenty. I was somehow expecting a profoundly fruity wine but what I got was really well balanced wine, which I wished I could have had more of. Recommended.

Poured thru Vinturi. Nice pop on cork and good integrity. Yellow green color. This wine reminded me of a cross between a Lewis Chard and a Dumol, both which I like. Lewis because of the intense chardonnay profile. It had the same powerful flavor profile of the grape but dialed down to about a 5 or six. Dumol because of the balance and smoothness after the first sip died down. There was a spiciness to the finish that could have ben due to oak but I wouldn't lay wager on it. The more I swished this around on the palate the more this intensified. Very nice Chard all told. A Lewis Chard in my experience has a very intense Chard flavor that almost come off as biting, and this Martinelli quite reminded me of it, the difference being it would back off to a respectable balance. Second day and that bite died down quite a bit and what was left was a bit flat. Would I buy again? Yes I would. I was impressed as it took the best of both the Lewis and the Dumol and delivered a pleasing wine. CT shows this tops 2016 and it seems very nice right now, so this one might be right on the nose.

Not certain if this variety is my cup of tea. Other Ct users commented on how like a Cabernet it is; I initially didn't see that but after a day in bottle I agree. In fact, a fellow taster indicated it tasted like formaldehyde, although in fairness I didn't get that. It has nice acidity and a dark fruit profile, and i think it is an ager as a result. I am willing to try this one again. This wine is really deeply purple, almost black.

CT shows 1 year past end age. Cork top moldy and could not extract with the WE auto cork extractor. Infiltrated almost to the top but got the cork out with hand held corkscrew. Bricking evident in rim. Fruit muted but wine is still good and did not sour. Nose also muted and wine is soft and evident past prime.
This wine was sleeping! Now about a good hour in the Grenache profile has emerged. Bright and fruity. This wine is not done. If you have one don't give up on it but give it a good 1-2 hours to come out to play. Legs run fast firts wave, then slow down considerably. It's got about 3-5 years left if the cork holds up. I would enjoy it now. Interesting that most users report issue with the cork. Please please give this wine some time to open up and you will not be disappointed.

Cork pulled fabulously, totally intact, not infiltration, and was well made, a plus for me. Cork deeply stained dark purple. Fruit was not prominent but somewhat faed yet this wine has developed secondary flavors most nicely. It is more silky and nuanced and makes one strive to identify the flavors. It's not rich but distinctive just the same. I think this is a characteristic of mountain grown cab and also specifically Spring Mountain. Tannins aren't apparent at first mouthful but if you swish in mount you'll feel their drying effect, so they are still present, just well integrated. The denseness encountered in 2010 has evolved into these nuances and that is why i gave it a point higher than previously. I don't think this will improve so I recommend drinking up. A nice wine.

3/9/15-Didn't make my last one out to 5 years more like I said, but no regrets. Cork fell completely apart and if it wasn't for the fine screen of the venture, I'd be pooping cork. But nothing wrong with this wine. Confused a fellow taster and I as we thought there was grapefruit flavors. But after a bit decided this was indeed pepper. Fruit was nice and on the softer side but not at all faded. Really nice syrah, one i think should be on the short list of best in Cali. Age has made the balance almost perfect. Fruit and alcohol and tannins all seemed about as good as one could hope for. Has that nice syrah bitterness on the back and side of tongue. and on the third day it rose again. Fruit hasn't faded nor have any off flavors showed up. This is the kind of wine that makes one ask why am I not buying more of this producer? Recommended and even though CT says past it's prime a year ago, this one was decent and may be able to make it another 2-5 years. But I think it is ready and well developed now.
