This poured from the bottle almost clear on color! When in the decanter, was very pale, with a slight tea tinged color. It did gain darkness over time.
This wine really came together after a few hours in the decanter - ended up looking like cloudy tea, very nice mature wine with acidity , fruit and structure. A pleasure to drink.

The nose was burley, muscular, primary, smells like young wine. The palate is much lighter and lifted than expected, allowing me to think this just needs some more time. I’ll hold off for another few years on the remaining.

Initially concentrated soy sauce , Unami and plum , a little burley. 2
Hours later on the last glass, pure black Cherry, minerality, focus and elegance .
Both stages were enjoyable, but really opened up to show its best after a few hours.
The way this wine transformed over 4 hours speaks to its ability to evolve over the years. Tomorrow the Tondonia!!

This was a 18 year old wine that tasted international , without a home. I have another , no high hopes. Tasted with a group that could not sized this as Syrah amongst 2 BDX and a Pinot .

This bottle showed a bit more presence. Elegant, blueberry light smokiness and olive “tamponade”. The bouquet really fills the glass. A great bottle of wine and really representative of what CoteRotie has to offer

Nice olive tamponade and lavender opening on the nose , floral. Palate presented with nice acidity, but was a bit hollow in the mid palate, this seemed to resolve a bit as time opened the wine/ Lacks a bit of presence , otherwise elegant.

Nothing not to like about this wine except it’s lack of presence. Faded and a shell of what it maybe once was. Way past its drinking window. Like looking at a faded photograph and imagining what the camera captured that day.
I’d drink this without any food or other wine to get its best showing.

Rhubarb, strawberry , minerality, smells like a stone road in the heat right after a rain. Great mouthfeel, slightly viscous, allowing the finish to linger. 1st time with a Musar Rose. Me gusta.

Intensely acidic, the tannins were still gripping the cheeks. Linier in profile, tart red cherry. Didn’t feel thin, was a rather full entry, mid and post phase.
At this age, a little bit of an novelty I was glad to experience.
From same auction lot as previous note - this bottle fared better.

This wine alternates with some clarity of fruit and burliness. There were flavors of strawberries and blueberries . I felt the structure held up wine and there was sufficient backbone. Feels like this wine would benefit from a few years in the bottle. I did enjoy this wine, and look forward to this in a few years.

Beautiful balance of iron mineral cote and some serous blackberry and plum, coffee. Structured to allow for further development. Finish that goes on and on. I am a fan of this wine. Excited to see this over the next 10-15 anos. I liked this quite a bit more then the 14.

Upon opening and giving some air- Lilac, chalk, blueberry cream . It is a bit dry and lean. Light bodied with some tannins that will outlast any fruit. Very enjoyable

This a tannic dry, high toned cherry pith heck of a wine. Licking the inner cheeks to get the grit off. Nose is pretty shy. This will need a LONG time in the bottle .
Still into the 1st 2 hours of the bottle / decanter . I’ll save a glass in the decanter for tomorrow. Just wanted to check in on 1st bottle of a case.

This bottle was light bodied , had some minerality and tart red berries. I thought if thisnbottle a little more presence, it would have benefitted. It didn’t feel advanced, just too light bodied . Could have benefitted from a soup or light dish.
