Free bottle at the hotel. Should have known, but I tried it. Sweet grapey garbage. It's what you drank in college from a 4L jar.

Second bottle with secondary fermentation. Leave it in the fridge for a day after opening and the fizz will subside - if the fizz bothers you, that is.

Plum colored. Clear. Relatively light. Moderately fruity. Soft, slightly musty nose with licorice and leather. . Popped and poured. Aired in the glass for 15-30 min. Still probably has a year or so of life. but still drinking very well right now. Drink em if you got em.

Dark garnet. Funky nose - leather, brett. Cola and fizz which blew off somewhat over an hour, but left behind a funky taste. Black fruit and leather still came through, but again not what I was hoping for and not the esprit de Beaucastel. Reminded more of a Pinot noir than a CdP. Will let it sit for a day and see how it goes.

Cork fell apart and had to be pushed into the bottle. Decanted solely to filter out some of the particles. Fantastic. If you have one, drink it now.

Wow! Totally different wine than the last bottle and way different than the 2009. Dark, but translucent purple. Funky nose - brett, cola. Spritzy on the palate. Cola, coffee, leather. Not what I expected and not 100% sure I like it. (It's not what I was after tonight.) It is interesting though.

Last bottle and sorry to see it go. No formal notes, but very nice well balanced wine. I don't see it getting better, so if you've got some left, I would enjoy them in the next 12 months or so.

Blech. This is why you drink rosé when it's young.

Pinkish-orange-brown. It was never very pink to begin with and may have been heat damaged or otherwise tainted before I ever bought it.

No nose. Green apple and something else tart on the palate. Bitter finish. This may have been good when it was young, but it's over the hill now.

Deep purple with a little burnt orange around the edge. Nose was very expressive with blackberries, prunes, figs and some pine needles which was fantastic. After that it was all down hill. Very little fruit. None of the raisiny goodness I was expecting. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't something I will buy again. I have a half bottle left. I'll update this TN if it gets any better. But for now - (4+14+16+6).

(FWIW - not posting a sum score rating. This was more of an 85-89 point wine, but the nose lifted it to 90 points. I don't want to be misleading.)

Crystal clear (which is a change from prior vintages where it was a bit cloudy) and the color of apple juice. Very aromatic - lots of citrus, pineapple and hints of vanilla and honey(?). Tropical fruit dominates on the palate. Butter and oak are low level background and make for a nice balance. Really a great wine and probably my favorite white. (5+14+17+9)

H/btl. Bought on a flyer from the LastBottle marathon. Crystal clear, very light yellow. Nose was a bit closed. Palate was dominated by minerality - the word 'austere' came to mind. A little green apple. Nice, but nothing special for me. Finish was short and crisp. Overall, nice wine. (5+11+16+7)

Charity Auction Dinner (The Farm): Fantastic. Beautiful pale nut brown. Nose was nuts, toffee, figs. Palate was smooth with hazelnut and some creme brulee. Smooth finish without the alcohol I was expecting at the end. This will be gone in days. Need to find more. (4+14+18+8)

(I realize that I'm way above other scorers - maybe I don't drink enough VP, but in comparison to 20 year tawnys, I found this to be outstanding).

Charity Auction Dinner (The Farm): Somehow, I can best remember this wine in comparison to the other two we drank at the same time ('07 Sorella and '05 Croix du Beaucaillou). It was lighter and smoother than the Beaucaillou, but far less floral and expressive than the Sorella.

The color was still dark, opaque and with minimal bricking. Nose was a little muted, but showed some coffee and tobacco. Palate was smooth and medium bodied with plums and other black fruit. Smooth medium finish. (4+13+17+7)

Charity Auction Dinner (The Farm): This was a serious wine. Probably could have used more time in a decanter, but it definitely improved in the glass over 20-30 minutes. Deep, dark opaque purple. Inky. Nose was somewhat closed. Some funky, earthy scents which carried over to the palate but were kind of lost in the leather and oak. Still, very good wine and exactly what I was expecting. Actually, I little better than I was expecting. Long, smooth finish. (4+12+17+7)

Charity Auction Dinner (The Farm): Very nice burgundy. Translucent, deep reddish purple with a hint of orange along the edge. Nose was not very memorable. Palate was smooth. Moderate acidity. Medium finish. If I had more, I would drink it now. (4+11+16+7).

Not sure if this really deserves an 88 or 89. It was good, but not a standout. I would buy it again. Good value at about $40.

Charity Auction Dinner (The Farm): I finally get it! I am not a big champagne fan, but vintage champagne - wow! This was fantastic. Beautiful golden color in the glass. Almost no visible bubbles. The nose was brioche, vanilla, and yeast, but the yeast was moderate - not overpowering. Faint soft bubbles on the palate. Smooth and sharp. All around terrific. I could have had the whole bottle by myself. (5+14+18+8)
