Wow. Youthful and delicious. Grand cru quality. Unexpectedly good. Classic Vosne nose, slightly reduced on the palette. Wish I had more.

Awesome champagne. Bright and youthful but blessed with aged complexity, rich mid-palette and endless finish. Perfectly balanced at the moment.

Seems really over-oaked to me. Saturated. Very expressive nose, and some nice fruit and minerality below the surface, but the surface is too "modern" for my taste.

Popped and poured. Seeing if a year has produced any change in this wine. Gorgeous deep red color, but kind of unpleasant at first; like last bottle, smelled like dirty dishwater, and had a mildly bitter finish. Took about two hours for the wine to resolve, and then the trademark Barthod purity and precision, the minerality and earthy spice with strong anise notes started to work. But it never turned into a great wine, just a good one. There's some age-worthy structure, but I'm starting to wonder about these '06s from Chambolle, Morey and Gevrey for the long haul.

Beautiful ruby red color, wonderful nose, but extremely acidic. The tannins are overwhelmed by it. I usually love high acidity Burgs, but this is a bit harsh. If time softens it, this will be great, but the lack of youthful fruit is kind of worrying me.

This wine is really coming around. Very forward fruit aromatics of strawberry & rhubarb, accented with soy or hoisin. Mouthfeel is lush with tannins well-integrated and just enough sweetness. Maybe lacks a bit of complexity in the mouth. Nevertheless, a very nice pinot ... and a good argument for a little bottle age on the better-made California pinots.

This is an absolute wow wine. I can only imagine what this becomes with time in the bottle. Beguiling but as-yet reticent nose of pure, pure red fruit, perfectly structured in the mouth, with mineral finish and without a trace of the bitterness of youth, but with ample tannin for the long haul. Doesn't even hint at being touched by oak. Finish goes on an on. Ok, I'll stop now. Insanely great.

Grabbed this out of the cellar without too much forethought ... really points to how good these '05s are up and down the Cote d'Or and up and down the classification ranges, even for non-star producers. Rich, concentrated nose of flowers, white pepper, chicken stock and earth (almost nebbiolo-like) gives way to still-dense tannins and nice fruit balance on palette. Too young by a couple of years, I think.

Beautifully balanced wine. Dark color, just the right mix of earthy, spicy aromas, and mouth-coating deep red fruit with tons of minerality and acid/tannin energy. Shame to drink it so young, but worth it. Great juice ... wish I had more.

Popped and poured. Thin, acidy, dirty dishwater-like experience right out of the bottle. Really unpleasant. But a couple of hours of air opened it up, and while it never really developed any depth, it did get more enjoyable, with aromas of herbs and anise, and a through-line of minerality. I'm hoping the other recent notes are right and this just needs time in the bottle, but I'm increasingly worried it won't resolve.

Much better than expected, this had tons of baking spice, cinnamon, & clove on the nose, a dark red color that belied its age, and a smooth, sweet-fruit finish that lacked a bit of complexity but was otherwise very pleasing. Very nice and reminds you why you cellar burgs like these, even modest negociant wines, for 20 years.

This is a delicious New World pinot with nicely balanced fruit and well-integrated tannins. The nose is very muted and doesn't really open up with air, so while it is rich and mouth-filling, it lacks the sensory complexity of a really aromatic wine. It's also a little hot -- not unpleasant, but I can't help wonder if this would be more interesting at 13% alcohol.

Damn, Lalou can make a good bottle of wine. Super sweet fruit, with beautiful early-mature nose of clove, anise and a hint of tobacco. Tannins fully integrated and drinking great right now. These Leroy '01s are absolutely killer at village level.

Massively shut down and suck-a-lemon acidic. Not pleasurable. I sampled this wine at the domain on bottling and it showed promise although marred a bit by a hint of rot/dirty dishwater. I won't be touching these again for a couple of years.

This is an insanely good white wine. Beautifully balanced floral and green apple aromas lead to a crisp and delicious wine in the mouth, but without a hint of harshness despite vibrant acidity and crystal clear minerality. Great length that disappears into infinity. I'm sure this will be even better with time, but immense pleasures can be had from this right now.

Very reticent out of the bottle. Took an hour or more of air to coax this one to life. But then, wow. Incredibly weightless. Airy, maturing Nebbiolo aromas, with loads of sweet fruit and acid. Nicely integrated tannins. Absolutely delicious, great with food, and right in the strike zone.

Absolutely awesome bottle of wine ... better than the 08 Lambrays, which was itself quite fantastic (this has a little less of that stemmy, savory characteristic). I'm really loving these 08's. Intense minerality, magnificent structure, endless spice -- it's just pure Vosne goodness. Going to be a rocking wine in a decade. Hope I have some left ...

Red fruit and iron shavings. Some distinct baking spice on the nose. A relatively big Chambolle. A tiny suggestion of the dirty dishwater / ash flaw that others have detected, but doesn't take anything away from the pleasure of this wine.

Reticent but razor-blade precise. I am biased toward loving the Barthod Chambolles, and this one certainly delivers the goods. Fresh red fruit, maybe a hint of caraway seeds. Not a showy wine, but really lovely and subtle. As a French friend woud say, "facile a boire."

Just superb. Tannins are well integrated with the vibrant dark fruit. Classic northern Rhone meaty, savory aromas. Perfectly balanced. Only knock is that it's a little thin in the mid-palette. Probably still has some upside, but no shame in hitting it now.
