Really demonstrates the need to age these 05s, even at the village level. Dense dark-berry fruit and chewy tannins will resolve into something killler, but may take years. |

2007 Giacomo Conterno Barbera d'Alba Cascina Franciamore |
4/30/2010 - Khamaj wrote: 93 pointsLove this stuff. A pure, dense, mouth-filling wine. Super-grapey with intense minerality, almost like vitamins. Although it has a relatively high alcohol content, it is so soft that it doesn't seem hot at all. Drinks great now, but has underlying acidity and tannic structure to age. |

2006 Nicolas Potel Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Petits MontsPinot Noir more |
4/27/2010 - Khamaj Likes this wine: 91 pointsRich and delicious, with great length, purity and pinot fruit. There's a lot going on here. Raspberries, floral notes, earthiness and minerals. It is accessible, but also refined. Not thin and acidic. Needs some air time to open it up. A really fine under-$75 burg. |

2007 Scherrer Winery Pinot Noir Sonoma Countymore |
4/20/2010 - Khamaj wrote: 88 pointsNice balance, fruit and acidity, but a little too hot for my palette. Listed at 14.5% alcohol, but drinks like mid-15%. Once you get past the alcohol, there's a nice mouthful of sour cherry and red fruit, with some pleasant herbal/spice notes on the finish. A well-made wine; good but not great. |
