Restrained, rich aromas of dark cherry, blueberry, tobacco leaf and olive with hints of prosthetic limb and felt tipped marker. Medium bodied and savory on the palate with plenty of firm, dry tannin, medium+ acid, excellent balance, a salty note and a slightly clipped finish. This took 4 hours to open up and even then swirling the glass caused it to shut down. This needs more time. 5 years? It should turn into something beautiful. Everything is in the right place. Enjoyed with a hamburg steak and home fries (sans ketchup).

Decanted and consumed quickly. All rocks and white flowers, nothing about this indicated Sauvignon. Delicate yet with a building intensity on the palate. Very young... needs time.

Lots of pineapple, papaya and lime on opening but it settled down to show a more mineral, saline side. Quite fresh on the palate, the acid is high but better integrated than in the past, couldn't detect any RS. Great with takenoko nimono (a bamboo, chicken, carrot, mushroom and pea stew in a reduced, sweet/salty fish, seaweed, soy and sake broth). Good for at least another 2 years.

A beautiful, pure and ripe nose but this falls flat on the palate. It feels de-acidified and dull. Oh well. Pretentious 500 ml bottle and a horrible label. I should have known better. I should have bought the Donnhoff! It does have a nice nose.

Honey, toast, sherry and red apple with hints of moss. Well balanced and gentle with plenty of acid, and a sweetness that asserts itself with time. A good example of an intro champagne in a rich, toasty style. Though, I can't decide if this is elegant or slightly stripped of character. Like a blend of Chidaine's Monlouis Brut and Mellot's Sancerre Moussiere. Nice with tuna tartare and deviled eggs. Thank you Caren.

A touch of brett on opening but it blows off to reveal lots of dark, sweet cherry with touches of rubber, spice, orange peal and brown sugar. Beginning to show some decay as well. Medium bodied with medium acid and medium tannin. Relaxed in the natural style with good minerality and a persistent finish. A blend of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc. Very good wine but not for Pinot lovers. Drink now - 2018.

Nice. Spicy, floral, feral and mineral. Not complex or deep but with great balance and freshness. The Welschriesling dominates but the Weissburgunder, Gruner Veltliner and Muskateller all make their presence known. Drink young.

Rich nose that gained depth with time. Bright cranberry, damson plum, cough syrup, tar, funk and lots of mineral. Ripe on the palate yet with high acid and a light body. Light tannin as well. An intriguing blend of Dornfielder and Cabernet Sauvignon. No herbaceousness here. Very nice. Not showing any signs of age. Good for another five years.

Obvious quality here. Funky boysenberry, earth, orange peal and spice. Aromas developed over two hours. Good pinosity. High acid, light but drying tannin, a slight spritz on opening, clean, medium body. Easy going yet with interest. Would try other wines from this maker.

This has settled down quite a bit since my last note. Still the same wine but in a better place. The minty, lactic notes continue to bother me but I can better appreciate they typical Chablis minerality now that the fruit has subsided. Also the acid has come forward better bringing the wine into balance. Good with a buri kama.

This seemed more rustic than my previous bottle. A touch of Brett too! But, overall, great balance and sense of place at a moderate alcohol level. Gained depth and blossomed over three hours in the decanter. Great with a Moroccan lamb tajine and couscous.

Similar to my previous note. Lots of soil and loam on opening, great texture and pinpoint balance. However, after a two hour decant, the sweet fruity notes began to dominate. Lots of strawberry and blackcurrant. This really transformed and blossomed. Great with a hambagu steki.

A equal parts Grenache and Carignan with a splash of Syrah. Fresh, fragrant and open. Dried purple flowers, orange peal, strawberry, black pepper, salami and mineral. Medium bodied, high acid, medium yet firm tannin, very clean, a touch saline, dry on the finish. Surprisingly ambitious and refined for a Roussillon. Don't come looking for power and glycerine. Only 12.5% ABV. Very interesting wine. The tannins are a bit aggressive at this point, seemed to build over time. Very good with a creamy beef Stroganoff. Should improve with time in bottle. 5 years?

Better on day two. Darker with leather and raisin notes, yet still fresh and nicely balanced. Tannins softened as well. I probably under rated this. Drink 2017 - 2025.

Nice wine. Aromas of Morello cherry, black licorice, black tea, felt-tipped pen, dusty road and grilled herbs. Medium to full-bodied, with firm, grippy tannin, high acid, a slightly thin mid palate and a dry, earthy, slightly stunted finish. Good overall persistence and balance. Blends the dry dustiness of the old world with the fruity forwardness of the new. I like it and I think it will benefit from a few years in the cellar. Drink 2015 - 2020. A great everyday drinker. Paired well with a "wild" boar tagliatelle.

Delicate aromas of golden apple, sugar cane, celery and mineral. Medium bodied, medium plus acid, a touch of sweetness, refreshing, a bit lacking on the mid-palate, good clean finish. Delicate with a fine texture. Good wine. Reminds me of the Altesse I had from Bruno Lupin the other day. Didn't quite stand up to the wasabi and ginger of a sushi dinner.

A very nice, well made wine. Some CO2 upon opening. Rich, honeyed, herbaceous aromas of grapefruit, lemon peal, mineral and funk. Concentrated yet fresh. Medium to full bodied on the palate, high acid, some spritz, a touch of sugar, a light bitterness, some thickening on the tongue, and a clean finish. Definitely Vermentino. Good wine, it just lacks something to push the score higher. This should appeal to lovers of California Chardonnay, minus the oak and butter. Paired well with a parsley pesto and a maguro, cucumber, orange salad.

Old world in style. Open from the get-go. Rich, candied and fresh. Lots of cherry, plum, raisin, copper penny, orange peal, bitter chocolate, spice and tobacco with hints of roasted herbs, pickle juice and band-aid. Very pure and alive. Constantly changing in the glass. Medium to full bodied on the palate, medium plus acid, lots of mineral, a slight prickle on the tongue, mild tannin that builds with time, great balance and length. Usually I think of ripassos as being heavy and plodding but this is fresh and dark and raisined. Good wine and great with a white bean pasta e fagioli.

Pure, vibrant aromas of apple, buckwheat, mountain herbs, sherbet and mineral. Medium bodied on the palate with intense acid, amazing balance and texture, great clarity and just a hint of sugar. Original and very good. Riesling-esque. Interesting in that a wine of such high acidity can have absolutely no citrus aromas or flavors. Great with kaiseki. Less interesting as it aired out and warmed up, but when cool and fresh…. electric. Wow. Short synthetic cork. Drink up.

Open from the get go. Bright, sweet, creamy aromas of violets, morello cherries, lavender, bandaid, crushed rocks, spice and vanilla. Highly perfumed. Medium bodied on the palate, no heat despite the 14% alcohol, harmonious, fresh, some brett, very fluid, nothing sticks out, tannin and acid are present but well integrated, very easy to drink. Good, modern, polished, soft and friendly. There was some confusion as to whether or not it was from California. Woody tannins were showing on day two.

Aromas of black cherry, red cranberry, wet earth, mineral, orange peal, coffee, herbs and spice. Medium bodied on the palate with very high acid, light tannin, a clean midpalate and a pure finish. There is quite a bit going on here, 1er cru quality. Very tart for the time being, should benefit from another 2 -3 years in the cellar.

58% Cabernet Sauvignon, 42% Merlot. Aromas of red berry, asphalt and mineral with a touch of Cabernet leafiness. Medium bodied on the palate with tart acid, fine tannin, good balance and a dry finish. Great tension in this wine, almost Burgundian. Not at all rich, thick or hot as some other 09's have been. A bit closed at the moment, evolved very slowly over three hours in the decenter. Needs another 2-3 years in the cellar, good upside potential.

A beautiful, pale ruby. Round, creamy, fruity, mineral and clear. High toned bright red fruit with some mint and a touch of coffee. Dry on the palate, linear, structured with good acid, fine firm tannin, not so deep, good balance, quite mineral and dry on the finish. Good, classic, pure Nebbiolo. Doesn't feel modern. Not at all sweet or over the top. You gotta like dry and structured. Good with Thanksgiving dinner.
