This is rich, ripe and intense without fat and or flatulence. Complex, multi fruited and satisfying with enough acidity to complement or cut through most meals or enjoyed on its own. The oak is well integrated and unobtrusive. Enjoyed with fresh Alaskan halibut one night and Alaskan Sockeye the next.

It's been a few years since I visited the '04 so I was thinking it was past its peak. Color of ripe bing cherry. Good aromatics.

Wow, this is one of the most port-like cabs I've had in the past five years. I've been a big fan of all Chappellet's red wines. Although the oak in this particular bottle has integrated, the abundant tannins let you know they're still there (not unlike a good port). Lots of black cherry, currents, some black berry dark chocolate and a little red raspberry. Not particularly thick but almost too rich. May be at peak or give it another 3yrs to see if it continues to knit. Some may find this a bit too much.

Recent purchase from reliable retailer & a probable recent bottling. Somewhat soft, candied nuances. Mediocre bubbles. The fruit is there but it's not focused, pure or lasting. Some complexity via hints of fresh ginger/apple but overall it does little for me and I'd rather drink Domain Ste. Michelle, a good Cava or Prosecco for the money. Slightly bitter finish. Average QPR and for $3-$6 more Roederer Anderson Valley knocks it into the dirt. May be good with Thanksgiving turkey or ham but yukky by itself.

Tasted non-blind, Purchased on release, stored @55degrees. Minimal cork expansion, poured at 45 degrees. The fabulous mouse/mouth feel reminds me of Taittinger Brut La Francais but w/a bit more fruit. Not austere or super dry, this was DELICIOUS and satisfying with light brioche, pear & lemon pepper notes and a surprisingly long finish. Also, went well w/Dover sole & Oregon dungeness crab/drawn butter, basmati rice, roasted red bells and leeks etc. Beautiful example of aged Oregon bubbly as it's never tasted better.

Stored at 55 degrees since release. Excellent cork, Popped/poured. 13.8% alcohol. Slight funk on the nose attended by dried berry scents. Deep ruby red w/some edge bricking. Medium body with initial attack of sweet cherry fruit followed by nice midpalate ending in a dry, satisfying resonant finish. This has aged quite well.

This was once a big, well structured wine that promised a long and pleasurable life of cabernet enjoyment. Well, that may have been 2-5 yrs. ago. Still has an inviting nose leading into light herb-leafy notes along side of resolved black fruits and cassis and a tasty finish.

Deep golden color, this bottle has fully evolved into a soft honeyed gum drop that is a little past its prime (kept at 55 during its entire life) but would be welcomed by someone who appreciates fully mature Burgundian style chardonnay.

Not as big/rich as last time, this bottle seemed a bit lighter and more structured. After taking its time to open up in the glass is started to show a bit more of its usual self. Medium cherry/cassis with oak component more in the background.

Good aromatics leading to a full-bodied mid palate of ripe earthy black currents & black berry. The rich ripe tannins and oak are well integrated and resolved ending in a long finish. Will likely hold for 2-3 years if properly stored.

The big heavy bottle didn't lead to big enjoyment in the glass. PnP'd this opens to a modest nose of black fruits and light toasty oak segueing into a medium palate of raspberry and stewed blackberries with a little spice thrown in to keep it from being totally boring. But over an hour the wine thinned out and the finish faded, unlike the Alto Moncayo's I've enjoyed over the years.

Garnet/purple. Popped/poured, opens with a welcoming nose of black cherry/cassis (Ludens cherry cough drop) and subtle toasty oak. Mid palate of big fruit flavors buffered by amply ripe fruit and oak tannins. Lightened up and got better with time 2hrs., which it would benefit from; maybe a year or three. Decent QPR. Would buy and drink again.

This is my 4th tasting and 2nd writeup of this wine: Popped/poured, this conjures a Caymus-like nose of sweet red/black cherries and spice but without the midpalate richness, weight or the longer finish. Given the likeable juicy mix of cherries/berries and spice, coupled with it's decent finish, this has some credibility in the under $25 QPR race. Plus, it's widely available.

Popped and poured. Dark crimson w/a little bricking at the edge. Big tarry/cherry medicinal nose leading to a fat midpalate of black berry/cherry fruit/tar that settles into something a little more refined and engaging after an hour in the glass and finishes with light mouth coating tannins that linger for a bit.

Crisp stone fruit/yellow delicious apple augmented by minerality and subtle oak spiceness that evolves and builds nicely in the glass. Midpalate is moderately rich with a fine finish. Good value, might age 2-4 years but very good now.

13.5%abv. 58%CS,31%Mlt,11%CabFranc. Good cork. First time tasting this wine, I've had it in my cellar since 2001, where it got lost/forgotten until now.

Pleasant, slightly funky medium nose of ripe plums, black cherries, damp pine forest floor and black berries. Although holding up this is past its fruit prime stage but still quite drinkable, w/enough complexity to be enjoyed on its own or w/the beef dinner that it partnered with.
The medium-full midpalate lightly echos the nose, ending in a medium-short finish. Paid $45 back then.

Not a flawed wine or objectionable, it has somewhat reigned in flavors of what? I can't make them out as there's little definition. A tiny hint of honey/butterscotch in the finish, it's a bit too safe, dialed down and nondescript. I does open up as it approaches room temp.

Agree w/WS. This is a tasty wine that's easy to drink, will age for 2-3yrs, can be enjoyed by itself or with food. Nice inviting nose of raspberry/cherry/kirsch offers up a supple mid palate of the same. Oak is there but not obtrusive, soft tannins and moderate alcohol. Excellent value at $14 and as good as some $20 Garnachas I've tasted over the years.

Nice but light spiced aromatics of sweet oak and tropical fruits segues into medium bodied mouth feel of crisp stone fruits that linger on the finish. Not great but more than acceptable on its own and better w/grilled pork chops or rich fish. Not a WS 90 pointer but good enough for the money.
