Clean and lean; like a quiet statue.., no frills, easy to drink as it's austere yet refreshing. Fleshy enough to play with food. I tend to like leaner Pfalz spatburgunder rosés, and this very much fits the bill

A broad and somewhat syrupy Riesling with ripe nectarine fruit comes together nicely on the finish with an acid that lets it taper off into an inviting, versatile wine, great QPR--as food friendly as a Spatlese should be.

A good vintage for Pico. Feels lean and incisive a bit, but generous enough on the midpalate to counter the citrusy acid. Refreshing mineral nose. This just makes me wonder how fabulous the 1er crus were this year.

A tiny, pleasant tannic bite on the finish at this juncture. This really needs time; the fruit only presented itself after an hour and a half of airtime. More beautiful lightweight tart cherry jam, smouldering fire smoky allusions near the finish. Just think what these will be like in a couple years....

Much more appetizing than the Garance opened--it unquestionably has a Carignan reedy tobacco finish which may be off putting to some but it cut through our food nicely and felt light and inviting, gourmand.

One of these banana liqueur noses. Go f*ck yourself label; there's no way that this is 13.5%, because two sips and you're sideways. I'd bet the farm against 13.5. Too big and cake-y to my palate for a 100% (well, allegedly 5% Syrah) Carignan. Makes me wonder if Mourvèdre made it into this vintage? Feels Spanish. I immediately opened a Rimbert Carignan to remedy this situation, which worked much better with our lamb loin chops.

Earthy, bright and pungent--sweet catnip on the nose, and glass residuals of leather with an almost sherry-like aromatic bent before the finish. These wines always resonate so deeply within me, and have since my first taste back in 2010. All quality levels this year from the purchased fruit "Basis" up to the daddy Bundtsandstein are exceptional, boutique, unique wines of character.

This is the real deal. Mind bending as promised. Creamy, honeycomb, slight caramel/oxidative, rather heavy midpalate weight, but then it perplexes with its cheek twisting limestone dry finish. A wine to contemplate. Who knew they could make amazing white wine too....

Stemmy but sappy, light-footed as usual, wild and delicious tart cherry. Even with purchased fruit they can render something this lovely... a surprising amount of sediment, so stand it upright and take care near the last pours.

Certainly a wine that performs well at its price point, but I found it a bit too floral on the nose for my individual palate. We easily finished the bottle with Greek style branzino and it showed properly; I just think it edges too closely to Alsatian Muscat or perhaps Vermentino -- two other highly aromatic/floral varietals I'm not too comfortable with -- for me to really fall for it.

Somewhat simple as to be expected, no it's not fair to expect a baby Côte Rôtie. These vines sit across the road from Côte Rôtie. Pomegranate molasses/thick red raspberry fruit, but sufficiently lifted and bright such that it is refreshing. Nose brings to mind Faury Syrah but it's smoother and less feral, feels stem my but polished; obviously not the elegance of a Côte Rôtie but managed an elegant balance nonetheless. At 16€, back up the truck. Roses come to mind with air, and it seems to gain conviction, even alluding to the tiniest meatiness. Yum.

Salty mineral Riesling that is lively and feels vinified as dry as in a GG style. Much more lively than GG though. I'm curious if this grew in black basalt--aka Forst vineyard, because the palate takes me there a bit.

A birthday wine at Del Posto. Really singing with bright, vibrant, irrepressible lush fruit which never becomes heavy. How I love Luca's wines. Note this used to be called La Rocca et la Pira. I see no reason to age this more than 3 years?

My favorite vintage of this since the 2009. I like it. Plush but fresh, chalky peach; just and I mean just enough acid to hold it together. So versatile with food. I wish to drink a fair share of this during summer.

A tricky vintage came out amazing for this reliably breathtaking wine. Not at all chubby like the 2010, perhaps not the equal of the 2005 tasted in 2010. Brilliant acid, and this is really, really good. Electric wine, searing drying acid but like lightning through a dense pear. What wouldn't this wine work with.

Unfamiliar with the Esmonin wines; bought a couple upon recommendations from a friend. Very surprised by this wine which was, for my palate anyhow, picked too ripe and exposed to too much oak, proffered by Dressner through Chambers St Wines?! Has the world gone mad? Has that telltale nutmeg aroma that dominates domestic pinot noir when überripe fruit interacts with new oak. Yesterday the gods were with me; today...nothing is going right. Blind I'd've bet the farm on Oregon pinot. Sadness.

Leathery, a bit of rustic olive-laden barnyard brett, but not enough to drag the dinner into the barn; you are...drier than you are sweet, you have a garden with roses in your backyard, you are fresh and alive in your tart cherry vibrancy; you are not greying in the least. You seem a bit volatile at your deepest core; but you leverage that and still manage to be bright and aromatic with acid-laden, cranberry and bruised apple aromas on the finish alongside the roses, leather and tiny allusions to milk chocolate -- and even tinier allusions to eucalyptus. In spite of your bruises, you feel young all the same, with at least half of your life before you, or at the very least you still have many years before you are constrained to a walker or God forbid a wheelchair. Your drying tannins and lively acid are proof of your rustic vitality. And the fact that I purchased you from an unknowing merchant, whose former buyer left 7 yrs ago, for only $81.12, who warned me it "those wines stored up there were tasted recently, and most were bad...I gotta warn you this is probably not good", kind of bolsters my belief in Easter miracles. I gave you a 5% chance of showing well, and you rose on the third day (after buying what should have been your dead corpse).

Pretty fabulous exuberant fruit, with a dense sappiness as you'd expect from 2011, but in no way green or angular. What a great winemaker. I knew I could count on her to get 2011 right down to the lowest level. Yes it's got a price tag that attests to its quality but it's worth every cent. Good luck finding a lusher wine for the price! It conserves a feral, earthy angle that slices through the dense fruit.

Eh, not a fan. Took home a bottle as a sample and I find it has an Arneis-like salty attack, some allusions to apple on the nose, but the finish is a little hot and marshmallow to me, just a bit creepy. This didn't play well at all with a tuna fish salad.
