WOW! La Kiuva-style bacon over a light red nose! Maybe related to Pinot noir? Light brown orangish red nose. Very reminiscent of Petit Rouge but more fresh clean mushrooms. Just so alluring! Brings to mind 07 kiuva. Outstanding. Drink by the gallon.

A stunning crisp, powdered stone nose that gently alludes to the savory caper aromas (and really brings to mind 2013 Eric Chevalier Clos de la Butte Muscadet) that arrive for the somewhat clunky midpalate. Finish has a balanced acid but the aromatic residuals feel compact and simplistic, and have a clipped, bitter component on the accumulated finish that reminds me of pickles and gingerbread. If only the palate's elegance could follow suit with the nose! Curious to sample other vintages and cuvees from this revered producer with pre-phylloxera vines.

Enticingly smoky nose with a suave palate entry and some funky white pepper. Light bodied enough to dig in to. Alcohol juts out a bit on the finish, but this is another Languedoc surprise. Cinsault can be quite elegant (in comparison to other Southern Rhone red varietals). Makes me want to taste pure Cinsault.

First words which lit upon my mouth to describe the aromas were woman sweat. Later, nearly ripe yellow peachy musk with flecks of jalapeño and automobile grease/motor oil. With air, a drying, stony minerality emerges on the fff from behind those aromatic elements. It's briny, saline character peeks through on the accumulative finish, making this a winner for my palate, even if it is clearly pyrazine/green inflected. They harvested early this year to avoid rain, hence the green elements. What an impeccable pairing to jalapeño yellowtail sashimi with yuzu soy sauce and cilantro! Its bright freshness is its saving grace. Stony pyrazines; you could easily take SB drinkers here and they would predictably light up with joy.

Nose offers more candied peach and fennel (vs 2014 Reguiero Alvarinho Reserva, bits of pickle probably emanating from the partial skin contact. Palate is denser, but some peachy powdered stone arrives to brighten things up. It feels a bit heavy on the palate all the same.

Nose of clean leesy citrus, evocative of warm bread. Puckering finish after a lightly honeyed savory midpalate bump of candied lemon rind. An elegant yet simple, upright wine of character.

Barrel sample with the aging mother of the domaine, at the domaine. Note read: "Way more alluring skunky earth than 2012. Tiny harvest. Charmer. Delicious! Floral! Wow! Must get this!"

1993 Weygandt slept here and ate here and successfully guessed 1975 blind--so very impressive to Henri Gallet that he allowed Peter to import. Weygandt will no longer bring these wines in as the daughters taking over the domaine insisted on a terrible label (and I must agree, it's unclear even at 6" away, and 80s artsy terrible). Unclear what labels Lyle's bottles will have.

Best Lafarge aligoté I've ever tried, easily. So chalky and mineral and bright! Shows an alluring, earthy reindeer moss odor too (only ever detected that in Pithon/Paillé Chenin before). Really, really good.

In a near perfect place to my palate. No reduction at all; still a bit of tannic bite on the finish. Just look at the crystalline translucent color, and contrast that with the aromatic density that suggests Vosne spice or even NSG dark fruit. I am so very taken with this wine and Canneyt's work. *Sigh*

This is showing a bit hotter on the finish than more recent vintages I'd sampled at this producer's cellar in the Languedoc. Perhaps it's due to vintage variation or perhaps the house style is in flux. Ripe plum and some crushed stone, but the heat really gets in the way for me anyhow.

Woolied stony peach that's honeyed like Chidaine Montlouis but then it goes petrol and honeyed pimento olive. Wow this wine is impressing me even moret han I suspected it would, opened it to check in and prove that a well-made Vinho Verde could oustrip customer expectations and shine well after release. This surpassed expectations, won me over. Will be drinking a lot more.

With air it retains its intense acidity but takes on a more balsamic character with growing allusions to vinyl and new leather. The acid ketchup isn't going anywhere. Tidal waves of salinity bring to mind the ocean and shellfish. Balsamic blood orange and saltwater. The acidity is just too intense, even for an acid-head like myself. Open 3hrs total--importer recommends 4hrs air before touching. Very memorable wine, so very unique.

feels 3 yrs past peak but there is a burst of pleasure here. Browning old tannins on nose, slightly caramel attack. Leather and chocolate in a watery, mature, smoothed rock vehicle. A sense of poise but certainly not freshness; it tapers off pretty suddenly and browns out after around an hour in the decanter. I'd decant it off sediment, then empty sediment from the bottle, then back in the bottle to protect vs air.

Refreshing and upright, and the nose keeps bringing you back. Candied lemon and fresh pineapple and wheelbarrows of crushed granite. At times it leans towards a warm vintage Petit Chablis; at other times like a very mineral Albariño. Some tropical plush midpalate weight but nothing too candied or heavy, as the minerality escorts you through the finish like a gentle yet forceful butler escorting you out of some party that's not for you. The fun part is trying to nail down the strange green herb on the nose; is it tarragon or dill or fennel? The granite makes it morph.
