Directly after opening charming red fruit with oaky tones. Taste concentrated, red fruit and again oak, too much to my liking. Nose gets better in time, spices take over, taste gets better but the oak stays in the background. A good drink but it could be better! The underlying materiaal is very good, so in time the oak will be absorbed I think and this will be a great bottle.

Lovely wine. Red fruit nose and taste, very fresh and mineral. Many times Corton wines are a bit edgy, this is not, very clean and sharp. Still some tannins in the aftertaste, round and integrated. Long finish.

Leiden End of the Winter Tasting: Decanted for one hour. Lovely expressive intense nose, intoxicating, black fruit. Taste full-bodied, cassis, a bit peppery, lovely acidity, round tannins. Finish a bit short. Much better than I expected it to be, had a different 2008 1er cru the last week, which was also open for business.

Leiden End of the Winter Tasting: Lovely Gevrey nose, some green tones, red fruit taste, medium bodied, very fresh, lots of depth, some minerals, some round tannins. Still a bit tight, limited length. Clearly Fourriers signature, drinks well, will be better when it opens up further.

Full-bodied wine, maturing. Fruit (red fruit, strawberry), some oak an leather. Has improved considerably since the last time I had this a couple of years ago. However, still rather strong tannins, would advise to have this with food.

Drank several bottles of this wine in 2012, very fresh intense with very lively acidity. Three years later this has mellowed, acidity more in background. Nose black fruit, a bit tight. Taste concentrated black fruit, sweetness, minerality, firm tannic background, round tannins. Intense wine, clearly old vine, drinks well now, will improve next few years.

After all the negative news about oxidized 2008 Leflaive wines I decided to open up this Batard early. Rather dark golden colour, mature oxidative tones in the nose. Apple, some citrus. A bit botrytis? Style of the Leflaive wine has changed compared to older wines, less reductive. Clearly grand cru, lots of concentration, length. Not much complexity, some minerality. Conclusion was: probably early oxidation. However one hour later the wine has changed. Colour less dark, nose no longer oxidative tones. Taste better, more complex and interesting. Difficult to rate, I have no idea what this will be like in a few years.

Leiden March 2015 tasting: From magnum. Lovely dark fruit nose with leather and coffee tones. A nose to drown in. Taste starts with surprisingly fresh fruit, very open, concentrated, seems a lot younger than it is. Mid-palate more mature tones. It seems to hold it self back a bit in the last part, is even a bit edgy. Finish is long but slightly restricted. If the finish develops more with additional time in the cellar I would give this 95-96 points.

Leiden March 2015 tasting: Mature developed wine, lots of nuts and almonds, secondary fruit tones. The wine lacks tension due to limited mid-palate concentration and low acidity.
