Ghillies June tasting (Mosman, Sydney): Cream, a herbaceous notes, slight floral orange blossom top notes, cheesy almost meaty element as well. In the mouth there is a slight orange bitters, sweet spice and caramel element with hints of honey. Finishes with slight talc textured tannin and quite viscous but none the worse for that. I would say I also pick up, on the finish, that penicillin note from old blue cheese.

Blackberry, cream, vanilla, black cherry, muted spice, chocolate and slight mocha note, grows with time. Perfumed and polished. More of the same on the palate, flour textured tannins and juicy acidity but completely balanced. Fruit carries on long finish. Nice, really very nice in fact but, with time , it starts to fall apart. very odd and quite distressing.

Generic black fruit and chocolate, backed by cedar and spice, cream and vanilla. In the mouth there are flavours of cherry and currant, savoury mid palate with chalky slightly drying tannins, a slight bitterness and an almost burnt coffee note, it's a bit disjointed for me.

Initially aromas of slight biscuit and kerosene, lime peel; quite concentrated with damp rock. In the mouth the wine is zesty and lime oriented with mineral notes and slightly chalky mid-palate burr. Pleasant enough but quite forward for it's age. Not for me.

Quite herbaceous with sweat, lemon over lime, green apple and wet stone and flint on the nose. In the mouth the wine is tart and sharp with an almost chalky and effervescent quality (like dissolved CO2?) Lemon over green apple from flavour perspective. Hmm. Needs time but shows potential.

On the nose the wine is perfumed and floral with lime and blossom tending to tropical fruit notes and tiny struck match note. In the mouth the wine is tart and juicy and zesty but by no means sharp with flavours of lime and orange, very slight peel tang and green apple on the medium finish which also introduces some alcohol heat though the wine is pleasing and approachable

Very sweet ripe red berries, perfumed floral notes, very clean in this line up on the nose. A very slight sourness to the fruit on the palate followed by talc textured tannins, finishes a little short and is, again in this line up, perhaps a little too simple at this stage of it's evolution. Hmm.

Very slight reductive on the nose though this dissipates with time. Earth, dirt, dense black fruits sweet tobacco, very slight candy floss (I wonder if there is any carbonic maceration), sweet spice. In the mouth the wine is dense with chewy, chalky tannins, black fruit carry and turn bitter on the medium plus length finish. touch warm. Meh.

Leather, garrigue, herbs; thyme, rosemary, lavender, baked rock, red berries. In the mouth there are flavours of sour red berries, slight saddle leather, biscuit, silky tannins. Nice. Initially the nose is better than the palate with but time the palate gains weight and complexity. Very long finish.

Blackcurrant over slight red currant and herbaceous notes, spice. In the mouth slightly sour black fruit, quite savoury, a youthful, slightly austere, good quality Bordeaux but a bit un-2009 for me i.e. I'd expect this wine to be a bit more fruit forward. This is in no way a criticism.

Craggy Range Tasting (United Cellars, 100 William Street, Sydney): A little austere initially on the nose but opens to quite ripe and jubey red fruit; quite confected, with some integrated green notes, cream, vanilla. With time a more floral note joins. In the mouth red berries, tight drying tannins closes the palate down very quickly with a whiff of the fruit carrying. Hmm.
