Excellent showing, with a bright mouthful of shimmering red fruits and a whole load of spice. A bit of lavender and potpourri. Mouthfilling, well structured and long. What a steal at $20.

This particular lot seems to have a bit more complexity than my previous few outings with this wine. Lots of leesy, yeast notes, with a fine citric tang. Quite gulpable and a good deal for under $10.

Just loved this... so precise, so focused and pure. Lots of crisp citrus and peach notes with a touch of minerals. A piercing, lip-smacking, lengthy finish. A lovely wine for acid freaks; but make no mistake about it... this is balanced.

A bright blast of high toned, red fruits, such as cranberries, raspberries and pomegranate, along with a hint of rose petals. Crunchy acids; this almost gives an impression of spritz, as this just crackles and sparkles on the palate. Delicious and food friendly.

Going through these pretty quickly, as the temps outside gets hotter. Nice, citric, round SB, with good crispness. A bit simple, but so drinkable.

A fantastic deal... a wine that has a lot of Barolo character for $20! Lovely aromas of dried flowers, anise, tar and red fruits. The tannins are soft, which makes this accessible, yet the crisp acids give this some shape. Not the depth or length of a top tier Barolo, but this is moderately complex, well balanced and a joy to drink. Easy reorder if this shows up again on WTSO.

Similar to my last bottle. A broad Sauv Blanc, with minimal "grassy notes. Fruit driven and balanced, but somehow, doesn't quite have the "fun" factor that other Bedrock whites have had.

Sappy yellow fruits. Peach, citrus pith and cream, with a hint of vanilla. I get a hint of minerals here, with a medium finish. Overall, this is quite good, but still not delivering what it should for the price.

Chenin Blancs @ the Kravitz (Old Saybrook): At first this came across as syrupy and one-dimensional, although still wonderfully delicious and a wonderful accompaniment to cheese and pate. Thank goodness, however, we put some aside to try later in the evening as this improved remarkably... gaining complexity, nuance, acidity and even some minerality. Although it slimmed down a bit, it was still exuberantly rich and unctuous. This held its own against a 1989 Huet Cuvee Constance, which is high praise indeed. An explosion of flavors on the palate. Still youthful at 30 years of age and I will let my last bottle age until...???

Dark yellow color. Big nose of white raisins, quince, tropical fruits and a hint of quince and licorice. Very dense, with lots of botrytis. Could use more acidity.

Not bad, but this needs a bit more time. Dark, lively, sappy purple fruits, with palate tingling spices. The tannins are a bit course and leaves a drying sensation on the palate. The oak is in check and this seems like it can only get better with time.

Fair enough wine for the price. Cool toned, medium bodied, red-fruited and fairly well balanced, but without a lot of depth. The tannins here seem a bit more rustic than the last time I had this, but still accessible.

Chenin Blancs @ the Kravitz (Old Saybrook): This started off well, but just got better and better with air. Intense, chiseled and chock full of palate-scraping minerality. A lot of ripe yellow fruits, but this was all about the wonderful linear texture. Fabulous, lip-smacking acidity.

Chenin Blancs @ the Kravitz (Old Saybrook): Just like the 1993 served along side, this had a slight bit of oxidation to it, but much like its older sibling, not enough to put me off. Nice peachy, quince and wooly notes. No fireworks, but still enjoyable.

Chenin Blancs @ the Kravitz (Old Saybrook): Served alongside the 1989 Huet Cuvee Constance, this actually outperformed that legendary wine on my first few sips. A monument of a wine, with super ripe apricots, savory quince and lip smacking, palate cleansing acids. This did have an ever so slight "dirty" note on the nose, but the palate was clean. The 1989 Huet, however, got better with air and overtook this wine, while this "only" maintained. I had this bottling a couple of years back where it was more electric, but this was still insanely delicious.

Chenin Blancs @ the Kravitz (Old Saybrook): Such a monumental wine. A quarter of a century old, yet still vigorous and full of life. A concentrated elixir of apricot, honey, quince, orange marmalade and assorted rich tropical fruit. A sneaky hint of minerals is able to poke through the wealth of honeyed, fruity goodness. Lengthy, tangy, clingy finish. For all its weight, it remains lively, energetic and clean. Outrageously good.

Burgers and wines @ home (Milford, CT): This underwhelmed me on the first taste (popped and poured), as it came across and extremely thick, sweet and candied, with only moderate acidity. As this took on air it became more focused and precise. Yes, it was EXTREMELY sweet, but once the acids kicked in, it really left the palate clean and refreshed. So much apricots, peach, spice, honey and other jammy orchard fruits are packed into this wine. On day 2 this just exploded on the palate. I have one more left, which I will try to age.

Burgers and wines @ home (Milford, CT): Red wine of the night. This enigmatically had a savage, rustic, untamed character to it, but still refined and svelte. Layers of savory notes, with game, herbs, leather and spice. So complete on the palate, with nothing out of place. The structure is accessible but still has room for further evolution. The first bottle of the night to be emptied.
