I'm not sure this was a good bottle. Popped with a perfect, tight cork, the wine seemed a bit oxidized, but drinkable. Leather, Port, dried fruit and herbs. Medium Port like finish. Drinkable, but not seemingly good enough to rate.

Very informal notes, but this did not seem to have changed at all in the past year. Black olive, raw meat and a distinct cool climate profile. I didn't finish the bottle and saved around half for consumption 2 days later. Wow, what a difference! The wine has really smoothed out and become much more graceful, but loaded with ripe black raspberry, dusty earth and leather. Very, very good, I wish I had more.

C: Surprisingly dark, with little bricking. N: Dusty cellar, loads of leather, some oak. P: More dusty, earthy flavors, dry black cherry, leather, pronounced tannins and acidity. Medium body. F: Medium with drying, firm tannins on the back end and a classic Italian profile. While the cork in this showed running around half way, this is very good and drinking surprisingly young. Very nice.
Edit: This was even better 2 days later after being in the 'fridge. Still enough dark fruit, but loads of tannic structure.

Very informal, but this really needed a decant. Definitely progressed through the nigh and the next day, it was a bit more elegant than other offerings and was delicious. Elegant cranberry, earth, strawberry and rhubarb.

Trey nailed it below. On the pnp, I got sulfur and a mildew on the nose, but this blew off after a few minutes. The palate was restrained, but had plenty of old school Italian character with a surprising amount of red fruit and leather.Short finish. No signs of falling apart in the glass over an hour drinking period. 91+
