Finally drank a bottle without cooking with it. This is a very nice zin and great value. Lighter color and fruit profile. Pepper back end. Thought it was better than the seghesio at half the price.

Very mediocre Pinot from an area with high expectations. I'd guess they used wood chips in this production. Maybe not but it taste like a $10 Pinot from the supermarket.

With notes varying and my own experience with SRH Pinot I knew what to expect, except that's not what happened. Yes, it's fruit forward but not sticky sweet, the ripe strawberry and cherry have almost a savory quality. There's fantastic flavors of herb, tarragon, and dried sage across the palate. Excellent depth. This might be better than the Machado bottling which is 3x the price.

Not a rebuy even at this price. Nothing wrong with the wine but no energy. Dark fruit with an interesting dark molasses streak through the middle. Very soft, tannins completely resolved which is a bit surprising at this young age. PnP.

Very dark maroon color, very saturated. This needs a few minutes for the boozy nose to blow off, labeled 15.5 ABV, but most diminishes from the palate with time. Ripe bing cherry aroma and oregano. Palate has lots of concentration, dark plum, cherry, and a tart red currant or cranberry. The tannins provide a broad frame around the wine with a crunchy very long finish. Good yum factor.

Unique Sangiovese blend, super Tuscan if you will. The Sangiovese does drive the flavor profile with a leathery old world tone yet the cassis from the Cabernet Sauvignon backfills the fruit note. A little drying on the ending.

Frank said pick anything from my cellar for dinner. Ha! Yanked a cabernet which my wife loves. Very nice cabernet without the over extracted nonsense. Strong cassis, bitter cacao, and cedar notes. Tannins are angular as would be expected.

Love this chardonnay. I was all excited to write a tasting note and then I looked at my previous one and it says it all. Quickly becoming on of the wardens favorites and the Falcone's are great people.

This was open for 3 days and FMIII brought a glass to dinner with the wives for me to try. This wine is fairly dark color which might lead you believe it's a real heavy weight but not the case, the acid component keeps the wine very nimble. Incredibly strong aroma of kamala olive and herbs. Beautiful northern Rhône flavor profile, just delicious with it's savory palate and olive nose.

Sea Smoke Southing Vertical (Traci's House): Botella has always been my favorite sea smoke and I'm not apologizing for it. It's just a better wine in my opinion.

The balance for fruit, acid, herbs, and tannins is excellent. Medium plus finish and enjoyable with food or by itself.

Sea Smoke Southing Vertical (Traci's House): Extremely dark looking like a SRH Syrah. This is a very ripe and concentrated wine, too ripe for me, as the aromas and flavors are dominated by dark plum pushing towards prune. A little cherry lingers around but it's surrounded by a heavy handed oak treatment. Medium firm tannins.

Sea Smoke Southing Vertical (Traci's House): Medium dark garnet with purple around the rim. Nose is very light toast, leather, dark cherry, and must. The core of the palate is a ripe sweet cherry but mid palate fades immediately, hollow through the finish. Light tannins and a little thin but more feminine of the line up.

Sea Smoke Southing Vertical (Traci's House): For me, this is the best southing vintage and it showed again very well against the others. The lightest in color among the southings, light garnet. Nose push the old world envelop with mushroom, moss, and an old sneaker scent. As with most SS the oak is showing but with a lacquer remnant. Fruit is cherry and ripe red berries with a herbal and sage wrapper. Tannins are rounded and supple. Sophisticated wine.

Sea Smoke Southing Vertical (Traci's House): Light yellow color, like a Sauvignon blanc actually. Citrus aromas and a Viognier like perfume note. Interestingly the wine has a medium plus weight but great acid balancing it out. While there's a touch of yellow Apple the lemon note drives the palate with a mint and concentrated lime. The finish is very long. For me, this wine screams for oysters, mussels, or some seafood dripping in butter where the acid can do its magic.

This bottle sat open in the refrigerator for 7 days and still held it all together. The framing around this wine is significant meaning a very long life ahead. Still primary and tannic, the dark fruit and herbal flavors are plentiful.

Book Club (Maro Grill, Laguna Beach): Maybe this is shut down, hopefully if you own it, but it's not a very sophisticated wine as was mentioned in another note, it's light on fruit. The attack and mid palate are hollow. The bottle isn't flawed. There's citrus notes but no real weight behind them. Decent acid and flint or matchstick note at the ending.

Nose had me going for the start, there is scent of wild grains and mint. Palate has a cherry core and a big blast of crushed mint, brush, and iron with tobacco and menthol ending. Tannic structure still firm. Super complex. Very interesting. My WOTN because of the uniqueness of this Pinot.

Book Club (Maro Grill, Laguna Beach): Blind - guessed France, pretty sure it was Rhone and settled on Mourvedre because of the gaminess.

Very dark and brooding wine. Nose showed some tar, seaweed, and fur. That's why I was thinking mourvedre. Tart cherry profile, tar, and drying tannins at the finish.

Oh sweet Jesus, this EXPLODES out of the decanter and fills the table with aromas when it's poured into the glasses and we were outside... The last wine that showed like this was... <drumroll please> The 2013 Bearwallow. What's going on in this vineyard? Silly.

There's a great moss, cherry, and red berry notes and flavors. Finishes with more of a pomegranate. Terrific complexity. A+ WOTN for everyone but me, my second, because I fell in love with a burg.

Book Club (Maro Grill, Laguna Beach): Blind - guessed Syrah and California, and felt good about it. Not. This likes like a big syrah in the glass. There's some heat and the legs are streaming down the glass but it's only 14+% ABV. Nose is blood, iron, stone, and dark fruit. Palate is prickly tannins and tart blackberry, ripe raspberry, and brush. Cool wine.

Book Club (Maro Grill, Laguna Beach): Blind and again I guess chardonnay. At least I'm consistent... Red apple nose and juicy. Medium acid and lemon zest. Fruit drops off initially but as this warms up it blossoms. Finish is long and a fuller body weight which pushed me towards chardonnay.

Ordered of the list at Hannah's, Mike and I decided to go "big" and I figured this would fit the bill. Definitely a concentrated big style wine but I was surprised at the balance and no sticky or residual sugar. Very dark purple color. Blackberry and smoky aromas. Flavor is driven by the same blackberry, toasted oak, and bramble. Medium plus finish. Slight warming mouthfeel but no overt alcohol notes.
