This thing is still huge. Agree with the determination by the last review that this is a tannic mess. Have one more bottle, and I think I'm gonna hold on to it for a very long time just to see what happens. Hopefully the tannins fall out at some point.

This used to be a good wine on release and one of my favorite Pinot's. It has turned into a cloudy, stinky mess. My thoughts are too much lees contact by the smell of things. Should have drank this last bottle years ago. The nice fruit is still showing, if you can find it within the stank.

Very tight on opening. Eventually opened up a bit after an hour or so revealing cherry and muted spice notes. Not what I would expect from California - seems more stylistically French. I'd expect that with some bottle time this will develop and show more.

I should not have drank this - my last bottle. Still primary but gaining maturity. Anyone who thinks Zin can not age and develop needs to buy some Ridge.

This is a good bottle of Chard with nice acidity, good citrus notes and minerality. Still very lively. It is unfortunate, however, that this winery practices "Hostage Wine" tactics. That coupled with the higher prices of these wines will prevent me from buying in the future.

First bottle I have opened since release. I remember this wine getting better with quite a bit of air time at release. This was no exception. Dark purple with a hint of violet at the edge. 24 hours later after opening with the cork in and it's drinking better than last night. Still has some serious tannin to shed which I'm a bit surprised about. Oak is still going strong as is the acidity. Notes of coffee, toffee, boysenberry, and a hint of star anise on the back. Some leather and spice too. Seems like it still has plenty of life ahead. Revisit in a few years.

Not a bad bottle of Insignia - but not like their great vintages. Dark red color. Nice nose of leather, spice, tar, integrated oak with some black fruit and sweet tannins. After having the 97 recently, it's not the same game, but a good effort. Still has time left

2004 McPrice Myers Grenache L'Ange Rouge

Santa Barbara County more

2/15/2007 - DaveF wrote: NR

Cracked my first bottle of this. Needed about two hours to get going. But once it did, some nice vanilla and red fruits emerged on the nose and carried through with some tart cherries and smokiness in the mouth. Tannins are still going strong which give some nice structure. The alcohol is not too evident. A very good Grenache for a great price.

Decided to drink my only bottle of this to decided if I was going to order any 2005 R-C. In the glass, it had that nice slight cloudiness of an unfiltered wine. Good color and aromas. Bright cherries carried through on palate. A nice wine and a good representation of a well built Sonoma Pinot. The second night it had lost some of the brightness but was good. Not overly complex, but a good drinker.
