Decanted about an hour. Medium read-through color. Light for Zin. Fresh, fruit-forward nose displays smoky fresh berries and sweet spice. The vibrant and juicy flavors include black raspberry, strawberry with some briars and underbrush. Mouthwatering acidity and very fine tannins lead to a long, juicy finish. While not as profound as some of the other single vineyard Zins, this is a unique and delicious quaff that is very satisfying. Drink now though 2018.

Brilliant yellow/gold. Reticent nose of honey, wax, preserved lemon and just a touch of sweet spice. Rich, deep and full bodied, the flavors are very primary and unevolved with notes of citrus rind and roasted nuts. There is some youthful bitterness. I have about 15 years of experience with this wine and am confident that this will blossom with several years in the cellar. Took one for the team. This is just a baby. Drink 2018 through 2025.

Typical deep yellow/gold. Gorgeous nose of baked lemon, smoked hazelnuts and a dash of sexy oak. Rich and viscous on the palate with layers of citrus and ripe peach flavors with good grip and acidity. Exceptionally harmonious and well balanced, the long, ripe finish just begs you to refill your glass. Drink now through 2020.

After a C&D from Josh Jensen of Calera, this vineyard was renamed Resonance and more recently bought by Jadot. This wine was made prior to the amiable split between David O'Reilly (Owen Roe) and Peter Rosback (Sineann) and both are listed on the back label as winemakers. I bought this on release and had the pleasure of drinking it with David O'Reilly back in November. I just found my short tasting note from that day. It ended up being my WOTY.

Medium dark color with a slightly dusty rim. Very complex nose that kept growing with air, includes very exotic spices like garam masala, ginger, baked black fruit. This wine just kept getting better and better over the course of an hour or so--gaining weight and aromatic complexity. The flavors of red and black cherry are rich, nuanced and still very fresh and lively. This is a spectacular Oregon Pinot Noir and I am very lucky to have one more bottle. Drink over the next few years.

Decanted for 2 hours. Medium purple/red color. Wide, read-through rim. Lovely sweet and savory aromas of roasted Asian spices, sage and a unique citrus-like note. Sort and polished on entry with lifted flavors of red fruits, spices and licorice. Seamless, bright and focused, the tannins are very fine and the acidity really carries the flavor. The power comes through on the finish. Drink now through 2020.

Deep golden yellow. Clear and bright. Aromas are dense and rich with tropical fruit, sweet spices and roasted nuts. The palate is rich but lively with Meyer lemon, orange marmalade flavors and nice balancing acidity. This is a big, full bodied Chardonnay but perfectly balanced. Probably won't get any better but a real treat right now.

Decanted for 2 hours. Dark color; thin clear rim. What a nose! Smoky black fruit, pan-roasted herbs and exotic liqueur introduce flavors of blackberry, licorice, coffee, chocolate and sweet spice. This wine is lively, fresh, balanced and profound--a joy from start to its fresh and lifted finish. A great example from a unique vineyard, drink now through 2019.

Decanted for 2 hours. Very darkly colored--opaque center tapering to a very thin clear rim. Ripe nose of blackberry jam, roasted sweet spices, smoke and touch of menthol. The flavors reflect the ripeness of the nose but there is good freshness to the black fruit liqueur, and baked berry flavors. Certainly a big boy and a crowd pleaser, it seems a bit awkward tonight with the acidity not really meshing with the fruit. Last sip was the best. Drink soon. Now through 2017.

Decanted for 3 hours. Medium color with a clear rim. Initial aromatic note is of savory herbs but right behind that the ripe black fruit and sweet vanilla dominate the nose. Ripe, sweet and concentrated on entry with flavors of black fruit, cola and anise. Quite forward with nice freshness and well resolved tannins, this is "open for business" and a no-excuses, delicious Chambolle. Drink now through 2020.

I had stashed a bottle of this to see how it would age and had forgotten about it. Very pale color with just some faint yellow tones. The nose is mineral based with subtle notes of quince, lemon zest and pear skin. Quite fresh and dry on the palate with flavors of pear and citrus that come across as completely dry but with enough substance to add a mid-weight texture. Fresh as a daisy without any signs of age, this lacks only a bit a concentration and intensity. My last bottle but if you have any, this wine is in no hurry. Drink now through 2018.

60% Merlot, 21% Cab Franc, 12% Cab Sauv., 7% PV. Coravin'd for 2 hours. Medium dark tapering to a thin, clear rim. Reticent nose needed lots of coaxing to started to reveal high toned aromas of complex spice, black fruit skin and sandalwood. The palate impression is poised and polished with at soft but bright texture and flavors of black plum, currants, licorice and roasted savory spices. Firm yet perfectly balanced, there is still some ripe tannins and juicy acidity in the structure. Day 2: Decanted for about an hour and enjoyed over the next hour or so. This started to dry up a bit and harden up. Drink up if you own any while the fruit is still upfront.

Decanted 3 hours. Purple/black right to the very thin, clear rim. Gamey smoked meat, roasted sage and deep black fruit on the nose. Silky smooth on entry with layers of deep, dark flavors that include game, licorice and black fruit liqueur. Polished, sweetly fruited and powerful, this has all the parts working well together. Drinking well now and should continue to impress through 2020.

Opened for 2 hours but not decanted. Light color. Lovely nose of Asian spices waft gently from the glass. Cherry Pinot character that evokes a mature 1er Cru Beaune. There is still some "meat on the bone" lifted by fresh acidity. Gentle and elegant, dry without being tart, this is really very lovely. Drink now through 2018.

Light brilliant yellow. First note are of citrus--more tangerine than lemon. There is also some smoky minerality on the nose. That palate starts off rather plush but there is plenty of focus and balance to the flavors of citrus, melon and a touch of exotic spice. This lingers nicely on the palate and is quite fresh and refreshing. Drink now to 2018.

From magnum. Decanted 2 hours. The initial impression was disappointing--herbacious, firm, not very exciting. But after an additional 3 hours, this really started to shine. The nose started featuring sweet and Asian spices, fruit skin. The palate fleshed out offering gentle sweetness and fresh black cherry flavors. The acidity is fresh and lively. The tannins are fully resolved. Final flavor impression is of tart red cherries. A nice treat that is certainly in need of drinking--even from magnum.

Decanted for 3 hours. Just a hint of sediment. Opaque purple/black right to the very thin edge. Smoked meat, savory wild herbs and black pit fruit aromas set the stage for layers of luscious flavors of smoky black fruit. Viscous, deep and still firmly structured without being jammy. The ripe tannins and fresh acidity frame and lift the flavors into a long, structured finish. Drink now with food and long decant or cellar through 2020.

From magnum. PnP. Medium light color, wide, clear rim. Initial notes are savory and earthy with Asian spice and dried citrus notes. Bright, tart cherry flavors lead to a firmly textured and gently sweet palate impression. Solid but not tannic, this has good density and structure. 92 points now with some positive development expected. Drink now through 2020.

Decanted 2 hours. Lots of gunky sediment. Very darkly colored with no signs of age. Sexy aromas of black fruit, incense, roasted spices and oak notes. Quite ripe but nicely balanced flavors feature licorice, currants, fruit liqueur and oak spice. The oak that dominated this wine in its youth is now just a nice element in this powerful but complex and elegant wine. Unfortunately, my last bottle. At its peak for sure, but should continue to please for several more years.

From magnum. This is sourced entirely from Artz Vineyard. Later vintages say so on the label. Coravin'd into a glass and tasted an hour later. Medium color with a clear rim. Need some coaxing to reveal smoke, black stone fruit and dried herb aromas. Lovely texture with flavors of black plum, licorice and both sweet and savory herbs and spices. There's still some structure to hold it all together. This is quite elegant and harmonious. The complexity comes to light in the very long, satisfying finish. Drink now through 2017.

Soft but concentrated flavors are lavish but not over-the-top and there is still some tannin in evidence. This was delicious on release and is delicious still. A real stand out for the vintage. Brilliant yellow/gold. Starting to show its age. Ripe nose of citrus blossoms, roasted nuts and sweet spice. Rich and soft on the palate with flavors of ripe pear, yellow plum with just touch of the wet stone the was more apparent in this wine's youth. Nicely viscous and full bodied this wine has adequate acidity and deep, long finish. Maturing more quickly that I thought based on a bottle a couple of years ago. I don't think there is anything to be gained with further cellaring.

Decanted for 3 hours. There was some fine and coarse sediment. Brilliant read-through-it medium color with a clear rim that shows just a hint of autumnal color. Gorgeous aromatics leap from the glass showing exotic spices, dry citrus peel and a warm, woodsy note. Feminine and nuanced, the flavors include tart wild cherries, Asian spices and a gentle sweetness on the palate. The acidity is brilliant but appropriate and the tannins are fine and integrated. This is a lovely example with lots of positive development ahead. Drink now through 2022.
