Blinded, I was so sure this one was an Oz Shiraz that I didn't even bother to read the label until much later...
A rich, warm, dark, well extracted Oz wine with M++ acids that would fare well with at least some 2-3 yrs of rest, possibly longer. Has more to give. Fantastic with food!

This wine is a lot about its mineral extravaganza. Fabulous as a transparent, nervy PN. At least if you are in to this sort of thing. Aggressively young but already sporting a rather interesting nose of strawberries and PN aromas. The palate is acidic and mineral driven to and needs quite some time to come together fully.
Would be mistaken by many as a Burg in a blind tasting.
Wife: thin, watery and strange aromas.
Our ratings:
"Objectively" from a Burg-loving POV: 92p.
"Subjectively" from my personal taste POV: 75p.
Wife: 60p.

Quite lovely with Italian food and garlic after 5 hrs dbl decant.

勇士さんと一緒に (Le Message、弘明寺、横浜市): Gaja is always a treat, this affordable wine as well.
Served blind:
My first impression was Bdx for the young grape composition impression. Dropped Bdx for lack of Bdx-earth etc, went to Washington for it's apparent Syrah component and "odd-grape-mix-feeling" but ended up in Rhône as it was just too polished in a grande Syrah style that I previously have not had from the US (sorry folks! no offense, just my poor drinking habits...)
As the btl was unveiled I burst out laughing as this is just exactly what to expect from Gaja: An incredibly polished wine that is all about structure today and promise for tomorrow. When its bud breaks, there will be a most beautiful flower to enjoy. To be cont'd...
Had the misfortune to be served with slightly sweet dishes (fois gras w/madeira reduction and ox cheek in wine sauce) that pulled the wine apart. As this is a rather rigid soldier that is not at ease, sweetness is a poor bed-fellow...
We have 2 btls, and they will both be opened around 2020.

勇士さんと一緒に (Le Message、弘明寺、横浜市): A deliciously balanced RICH Shiraz of sorts. One btl to go, after 2020.
Still imprudently young with a thick red colour to underline it.
Nose is richly herbalized with encompassing dark tones and a mineral component to die for: blinded = This is Oz!
It's youthful character dances on mid-stage and steals your focus. Low on tannins and high on both lavish dark fruit and acids. Rich, long, in yer face, balanced, superbly well knit etc Oz Shiraz true to its origin and expectations.
Married both fois gras on an egg-based pudding with madeira reduction and the 24 hrs cooked ox-cheek with slightly sweet red-wine sauce. YUMM!
One btl to go, after 2020, and expecting even more from it!

勇士さんと一緒に (Le Message、弘明寺、横浜市): Suduiraut always blows me away, especially when I see the label as I drink it :-)
1st btl out of 4 and quite stunning, deeply concentrated and fantastic. A very young, fabulously rich, perfectionist Sauternes to turn any dessert, cheeseplate or fois gras in to something unforgettable... Will lavishly reward all keepers.
Next btl after 2020.

As unusual as a great bargain in Bordeaux! Mature red Bdx that pulls all of our strings.
Deep garnet, towards rusty, colour.
The nose is open for business and has a straight-forward Bdx constitution that is enough complex to command you to sniff a little extra of the pleasures on display: plums, dried rose petals on the surface and dark fruits, under growth, humus, cedar and sumi ink on the lower planes. Fur was a new one for me.
In the mouth there are also aromas that go towards mint. The wine is elegant yet distinct and let us really chew on the fine Bdx earth qualities. Still plenty of life with M++ tannins and M+ acids. Some vibrant red fruits and great length made this tonight's best wine.
Ready to go, and will stay on top for at least 5 more years.
The host opened a complimentary btl to let us really celebrate the pleasurable tasting with a Swede, some French, a Japanes, two French and two Swiss persons. We had a magical evening in the hotel cellar.

A stunning QPR in Bordeaux! Wow!
Deep red colour.
Olfactorial aromas are still quite tight, young and unyielding. Black currant, cedar, some Bdx earth and a twist of oak to go.
In the mouth the youthful M+++ tannins and M++ acids add up to a rather aggressive wine. The young fruit is towards red and the Bdx earth really comes forward with some cedary notes on top. Together with food, this wine starts to sing and my guess is that with some 5-10 yrs of extended keeping, that this will break the 90-p barrier.

Light golden colour.
Rich aromas: Dried apricots, honey, white flowers and only a little bit of Botrytis.
In the mouth, the sugars are overwhelming and the acids struggling a little bit to create balance. The fruit is rich and lucious, reflecting the aromas from the nose well. Has a beautiful creamy character.
Married the fois gras nibbles served with it.
This will develop and keep well for many years to come, and should be able to gain a few points as well.

Very light yellow.
Summery nose with happy peach, pear, goose berry, some nettles, wet grass and hint of cassis.
In the mouth it shows great intensity and concentration. The oak peeks through in the finish. There is transparency here and flint stones. Acids need some years to be polished.
Not completely balanced, and I'd say YES to more barrel ageing. However, this may come out a better wine in some 3-5 years time. For lovers of dry white Bdx, this may prove to be a great fix.

A very average bagatelle that has nothing in it that is possible to look forward to. The lowest quality wine we've ever brought to a restaurant. No fault, but a watery completely devoid of personality.

A little better than "good".
Wife describes it as: "strange aromas and watery taste, 68p".
That's pretty much it, even if it also has some small intensity and that very attractive PN bitter tinge in the finish. Delicious like many simple wines can be.
But this is as expensive as Pichon Baron (and other high achievers) so ... mind boggles about the price tag. Scam!

Hoping that the years will make it shine and also give it an interesting personality.
Bdx typicity through timid notes of cedar and CS.

Grapejuice with a little alcohol.
This is a rather poor wine, no faults and nothing horrid. Just nothing worth having.
This is a rather cheap wine, and compared to many BiB's in Sweden, this is ok rocket fuel for Fredagsmys, ungsbakad falukorv and possibly also for blodpudding, pölsa and märgpipor.
Only btl.
Happy to not have more.
Their 2011 is, however, a completely different animal!

Opened instead of the other btl of Muscat Bailey A this is a real wine: incredibly intense and powerful.
Light red.
Attractive nose with attractive aromas of intense and rather appealing fruit with a teasing hint of oak.
In the mouth we find a medium body w almost no tannins and M++ acids. delicious fruit, strawberries-and-raspberry jam with cold butter sitting on the side. Rich! I agree with myself that this is both elegant and powerful. Simply: a delicious wine with even a small personality. But the style is far from our liking.
Home dinner, celbrating the last day of an era.
1 btl to go, should do well for another 5 years, but delicious as it is and expecting no miracles, I suspect the last btl will go pretty soon :-)

Cork = super short and on top are seen three leakage points.
Colour is light red.
Nose is light of strawberries and raspberries.
Palate is a watery and light composition of strawberries and raspberries and ... that boyhood aroma of a rainy day when you have your hands full of slimy worms, preparing for fishing on a sunny day...
Not a faulty wine, but still quite awful. Maybe something for Beuaujolais lovers?

Slow-oxed for 18 hrs.
Showing off a well structured, restrained, young wine with very fine fruit that is open for business. However, this wine will greatly reward keepers. The fabulous aromas even reached our neighbours' tables. Fine Merlot that is given fine support by the CF. We really enjoyed this one!
91 p for tday with upside for keeping. One btl to go and scheduled for ~2025.

Surprisingly wonderful btl that made us happy with it's drinkability and old fashioned aromas.
A whole lot of cows walked by as this wine was made and drunk. There's a fabulous amount of sumi-ink here and fruit was not even near drying out in this btl (bought in Yokohama in 2012).
Fabulous to drink with grilled pigface, grilled side-of-pork and grilled leek (not "leech", as I accidentally wrote first). Wow!
The btls like this pne will live for another five yrs. Need to track down some more. Fantastic value and pleasure!

A most compelling wine of distinction.
Aromas of SB-flowers, young SB with cassis and SB-cat's pee.
Acids, fruit and everything in this wine married tonight's fried octopus in a most splendid way. It was difficult for the two of us to halt before the btl was empty. (Had to leave some for the patron, Chiba-kun.)

Have enjoyed their Merlot from several vintages and over the years. Always delivering reliably from 90 and over on our scales. Tonight's experience was right in the corner pocket and we awarded it 91p.
Red with deep notes.
Nose is young merloty and reflects the stiff upper lip of its palate. Still "berry young" and "berry luxurious".
Palate gives a dramatic experience of acidic entrance that builds up just like a clean-cut Bdx. No Brett, no Bdx earth, no cedar but everything else is here. Blinded, I'd have gone for right bank, possibly Pomerol. A very well made Merlot, still a baby.
At great Ital restaurant: Cuscina 13 Avrile (Tokyo).
Final btl of our current Merlot theme. Some planned ones will need to wait for their next chance. Coming theme is PN. (Wife protests.)
Still 3 btls to go of this beauty. Next one ~2018.

Stor, modern voluptuous doft av smörig lingonsylt och ett uns av dill.
I munnen är det ett fylligt, välgjort vin som frustar och ångar av intensivt innehåll. Superb balans, rikt, MODERNT, fylligt och riktigt. Jädra bra!
Om man läser smaknoterna här, så ser man att där verkar finnas stor flaskvariation vad gäller mängderna dill. Är verkligt glad åt att vår flaska höll sig så sansad på det området.
Only btl. Would have fared well from some more years in the cellar...

Rik ymnig doft av dammig mineralitet och elegant Sb mot svartbinbärsblad.
I smaken så tar den lilla åldern ut sin rätt på bästa sätt. Transparent skapelse som smakar riktigt riktigt bra. Rik, lång, koncentrerad och intensiv. Precis vad jag älskar i varje balanserad PF som kommer i min väg.
