3/27/2024 - sfwinelover1 Likes this wine: NRFrom SF Slow Wine. See my TN on the ‘19 Teres for general notes on the tasting and limitations. This wine is huge, immensely promising, and with the 2 hours of air it had when I tasted it, nowhere near ready, although I’m not seeing the booziness or sweetness this other reviewer has for this (and the other Adamvs wines). More dark berries than cherries, forest floor, mixed ground spice and earthy minerality with a wall of pretty formidable tannins. Not enamel pealing, but also not the pleasure machine of the ‘19 Quintus, and maybe I’m crazy, but why would you pay this much for a bottle of wine that’s likely to be a total banger and drink it when it’s so far from its best? This may be ready before the flying cars I mentioned in my TN for the ‘18 Montrose, but if you can find it a cool, dark place to get horizontal for the better part of the ‘20s, you’ll be greeted with a prize, I’m sure. And as mentioned elsewhere, maybe the ‘30s will even be a better decade, if not for the stock market and vintages then at least for politics and pop culture. We’ll see. 98-99+ potential for the patient. |

3/27/2024 - sfwinelover1 Likes this wine: 96 pointsSF Slow Wine tasting. See my note on the ‘19 Teres for general comments about the tasting and limitations. This was a surprise behind the bar pull. I’ll cop to confounding my winey friends one more time in saying that I think that time has proven that ‘11 was, while the weakest year between ‘04 and ‘16 (like the weakest hitter on the ‘27 Yankees), that particularly for some mountain wines, it was actually quite solid, if not nearly as fruit-driven as most of the other vintages. Since Adamvs’s vineyards are between 1500’-2150’ and their wines don’t lack for fruit, a more medium bodied style worked quite well here, and if this wine wasn’t as long or powerful as the ‘19s, it was far more elegantly balanced. Similar profile otherwise to the ‘19 of this bottling with mostly dark cherries and cassis with red notes, florals, wet soil and some dark chocolate. In a great drinking window, likely closer to the end than the beginning. Right there with Ovid and the Tor Cimarossa as the best wines I’ve had from this vintage. Well done. 95-96+ |

3/27/2024 - sfwinelover1 Likes this wine: 97 pointsFrom the SF Slow Wine tasting. See my TN on the same vintage for general comments on the tasting and limitations. This was the middle Amamvs wine in every sense. More accessible than the Estate and more complex and structured than the Teres, this wine was deep and dark, suffused with rich black cherries and cassis, a red fruit note, forest floor and dark chocolate. The acidity, tannins and fruit aren’t particularly integrated, but they’re roughly in balance, making for a wine that’s as interesting as it is enjoyable. Drinking really well with a couple of hours of air already, this seems certain to improve in the next 3-5 years, then hold well for a decade or 2 thereafter, at which point it may well migrate from its current excellence to greatness. While I get the first taster’s comment about sweetness, I found this to be anything but cloying or boozy. I’d seen Adamvs’s name before, but this was my first time tasting their wines. I sure hope it won’t be the last. 96-97++ |

3/27/2024 - sfwinelover1 Likes this wine: 95 pointsAt SF Slow Wine. I don’t usually score wines at walkaround tastings (or really any tasting when I don’t have control of the bottle) for myriad reasons (too small a taste, too rushed and no chance to monitor development, can’t pair it with food, don’t know aeration ablutions, etc., etc.), but the 4 Adamus wines (3 ‘19 cabs and a ‘11 Estate) were the belles of the ball at this well above expectations tasting, so I’m making an exception for all 4. I understand that this had been open, but not decanted, a couple of hours before my generous pour. More medium bodied and with far more integrated structure than either of the other ‘19s, this presents a lovely mix of fulsome, mouthfilling dark berries and cassis, dark chocolate, and dark florals leavened by savory notes of dark earth, exotic spice and cedar. While a bit more air, perhaps an hour, would have served this well, it’s basically good to go now, delicious and a pleasure to drink with enough structure and complexity to keep things fairly interesting (though unlikely to be confused with the Quintus or the Estate). Very reminiscent in quality, qualities and price point to the Arrow & Branch Black Label I had at a tasting there and bought a couple of bottles of. Should an entry level Cab go for $135 (winery price)? Above my pay grade, although you could certainly do worse for the money. Is this a qpr banger in a world where you can buy Hartwell Reserves, Riverains and Mt. Braves for $100-, back vintages of Blankiet and Larkmead LMV for this or less and the QC flagship and Flac for this (or even less)? Um, no, not in my book, but you could do a helluva worse. Drink now with lots of O2 or in the next 5-8 years. 94-95+ Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comments (3) |

Lots of plushy dark ripe fruit, pepper, sweet oak, cloves, rocks and minerals. Nice acid and big velvety tannins on long finish. Cheers. |

12/28/2023 - rockthomii@gmail.com Likes this wine: 93 pointsDeep opaque garnet. Third day open. Big full flavors of blackberry, raspberry, cocoa with thick notes of charcoal and oak. Hints of graphite and eucalyptus. Very nice balance of tannins and acidity gives a pleasant dryness. Not sure where the pricing on here is from as I picked it up for $145 at a wine shop. Very nice wine. |

10/23/2023 - csimm wrote: NRMy second go at the 2016 Quintvs, this time at home under a more controlled setting. A little fruity on the initial pull of the cork earlier in the day. I then went with a slow O2 in the bottle over the course of 3-4 hours, which greatly helped to deepen the profile and hone the delivery. Dark red and black fruit. Less earth here than I recall from my last sample back in April. (Fruit/Root day?…Who knows). Finishes with a dark red raspberry note that offers succulence and saturation. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comments (6) |

9/27/2023 - enthusiastic_amateur Likes this wine: 94 pointsRich black fruits and fine tannins on the palate. A bit muted on the nose but still very seductive. Long finish dominated by rich black fruit. Minimal oak intervention which will be beneficial for aging, perhaps a decade or more (?) Lots to love in this wine. |

8/31/2023 - kevinleeht wrote: 92 pointsBig napa cab with lively acidity. Dark fruits with black liquorice, tobacco leaf, bourbon oak and finishes quite long though a slight tinge of bitterness detected. Alcohol is high at 15.1% and can pick it up on the finish. Feels like a blockbuster napa that tries hard to be elegant and doesn't quite make it. |
