7/17/2016 - joel_weller Likes this wine: 90 pointsLots of color - still fairly dark red. Good clarity. Nose is light floral and red berry. Palate goes from bright acid to dark fruit fairly quickly. Surprisingly sweet (honey-like) around the edges. Finish is nice but ends bitter/spicy. Amazingly good Pinot for 12 years old! |

11/19/2015 - sugarbaron Likes this wine: 90 pointsThis is an uncommon varietal from a niche region near the Oregon coast. The Umpqua Vally is an undiscovered Anderson Valley of sorts and Baco Noir is their unicorn varietal. It is not related to pinot noir, having an earthy extracted and distinctive character, not unlike some of the southern Rhone wines. This bottle has matured well with balanced fruit, mineral, and wood notes, though like the best pinot noir and zinfandel the barrel character is subordinate. There is some softness emerging, though the wine is tanic enough to stand up to rich food. Another couple of years in the bottle might show further improvement. To a napa resident like me the fact that this wine is unusual and is not another take on a well known varietal makes this bottle exceptionally delicious. |

Chewy, tarry, charcoal and tannins, only a little dilute fruit. The cheapest of the pinots at $28, but no value. Fair+. |

6/3/2011 - OregonWineGeeks Likes this wine: 87 pointsA nice dry Riesling from a Umpqua Valley vineyard. A light golden color with citrus, herb and nutty nose. A refreshing Riesling with a nice fruit to acidity balance. Best well chilled but a versatile we had it with English banger sausages quite successfully. |
