Really bright and floral. Paired well with ham and a warm breeze.

Spicer than expected but fresh and light. A beautiful color. Potential to sit a few more years and better integrate the fruit.

Tasted like Pinot. It’s a decent wine and good price for Oregon Pinot

Lots of color - still fairly dark red. Good clarity. Nose is light floral and red berry. Palate goes from bright acid to dark fruit fairly quickly. Surprisingly sweet (honey-like) around the edges. Finish is nice but ends bitter/spicy. Amazingly good Pinot for 12 years old!

This is an uncommon varietal from a niche region near the Oregon coast. The Umpqua Vally is an undiscovered Anderson Valley of sorts and Baco Noir is their unicorn varietal. It is not related to pinot noir, having an earthy extracted and distinctive character, not unlike some of the southern Rhone wines. This bottle has matured well with balanced fruit, mineral, and wood notes, though like the best pinot noir and zinfandel the barrel character is subordinate. There is some softness emerging, though the wine is tanic enough to stand up to rich food. Another couple of years in the bottle might show further improvement. To a napa resident like me the fact that this wine is unusual and is not another take on a well known varietal makes this bottle exceptionally delicious.

Brought to Friday wine group. Pleasent surprise, was better than I remembered. Tart cherry and strawberry flavors, just the right hint of sweet. Good wine for watching the sunset.

Livermore: The Day Before The Storm; 9/3/2011-9/4/2011 (Livermore, California.): Produced by Bradley Vineyards but sold by La Rochelle as a fundraiser for the admirable Taylor Foundation. Chewy, tarry, charcoal and tannins, only a little dilute fruit. The cheapest of the pinots at $28, but no value. Fair+.

Good wine with nice flavors, albeit a bit hot. Bummed if you paid $100 at his restaurant (246), but a nice QPR if you got for $17.50 at Sunstone's 50% weekend!

A nice dry Riesling from a Umpqua Valley vineyard. A light golden color with citrus, herb and nutty nose. A refreshing Riesling with a nice fruit to acidity balance. Best well chilled but a versatile we had it with English banger sausages quite successfully.

Five years did this wine well. Deep and dark exotic forest/woods with bright boysenberry fruit. Carmel and smoke. A tad high in acidity, but the steaks are on the grill. Has a Cabernet quality to it.

Color is light brick color, with brownish-gold rim. Showing some age. A nice nose of cherry and leather. Flavors of cherry, bitter cranberry, and leather. A bit light and thin in flavor. Definitely at, or just past, its peak, so drink up!
