Very dirty, tar, licorice tons of chewy tannins and earth throughout. It's pretty good, although lacks some good fruit to balance out.

A nice wine, but didn't seem like a typical Pessac -- perhaps more of a Right Bank feel to it. Plum, blackberry, blueberry, smoke, truffle, and chocolate. Silky mouthfeel. Still a little too much oak influence. This is certainly an interesting wine, but would probably recommend giving this a few more years in the cellar.

A new, fresh style of wine for Branon, now produced by the brother of owner Helene Garcin. Truffle, tobacco and blackberry notes lead to a more finesse driven approach with a tangy, dark chocolate and blackberry finish. Gone is the opulent style to which we have become accustomed, at least in this vintage. This will undoubtedly please some people but it may alienate fans of the estate’s older, more lavish vintages. 90-92 Pts

5 hour decant. Leather, cocoa, blackberry, blueberry. The elements are there but the minerality was too high for my palate. Try again in 2016 to see if this mellows out.

Espresso bean, smoke, earth, licorice and ripe blackberry scents open to a forward, round, lush, modern style of wine that was made from a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Coconut, espresso bean, smoke, boysenberry and jam are coupled with flashy, fleshy textures and an open, plush personality. From a blend of 50% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc, the wine reached 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.7. 89-91 Pts

Still tight and tannin is very evident. However the notes on the nose is really beautiful, blueberry mixed with black fruit, lots of cedar, pencil shaving, and cigar box. the finish is long with tannin coating the mouth. No doubt this wine is turning into a magnificent wine. Opening it now may be a bit too early though still accessible and enjoyable.

Enjoyed this. I own zero Bdx but I find I do enjoy it when I drink it these days. Poured blind, this had Bdx aromatics. Spice box, even a light dill note. Black cherry fruit, juicy and crunchy.

Book Club - old world (Maro Grill, Laguna Beach): Blind - guessed right bank merlot. Oh so close... Got the merlot and thought there might be some Cabernet franc so I turned right instead of left.

Excellent nose. I was dried shiitake mushrooms and moss, loved playing with it. Very dark color. Licorice and anise notes and edgy tannins. Long sweet oak finish.

It's interesting tasting this wine since it was released. It's clearly a wine of pleasure with its rich, lush, fat, plush textures and concentrated dark fruits. On the nose, licorice, smoke, tobacco and dark berries are also in full force. At 14 years of age, perhaps this is not going to develop a lot more complexity with additional age. However, there is no hurry to drink it as I doubt its sensual qualities are going to fade for years.

Silky, soft, sexy and packed with vanilla, oak, smoke, blackberries, licorice and chocolate, the wine is lush, sweet and complex. If the wine integrates into the wine, and I think it will, this will become a more compelling wine than it already is. Clearly, this is a modern Pessac Leognan, but I love it!

Served during a tasting. Did well with the group, mainly experienced Bdx drinkers. A modern type of Graves, highly concentrated with coffee, roasted and earthy aromas. Actually read the tasting note of "Keith Levenberg" just before mine. He really hit the nail on the had with his superb description and analysis. I cannot add anything more to this.
