I tried another bottle from the case and thankfully, this was not corked. I loved this wine. The purity of fruit and fresh roses were just outstanding. This has a long way to go but will be worth the wait.

Unfortunately this bottle was corked but I didn't care. The fruit was so fresh and pure that I was able to think past that wet cardboard taint. Roses, some plums, raspberries etc on the nose and palate. Quite structured and tannic but the fruit will prevail.

Another remarkable bottle of this wine. Just beautiful notes of strawberries, dried roses and hint of tar. This is young but beautiful right now. The detail, finesse and elegance are superb.

Deep, dark red in color. Drinking like liquid velvet, completely spherical, with all elements balanced. Just starting to open up with aromas and flavors. Try again in 2019.

There is a clear roasted quality to the ripe fig, plum and dark cherry fruit aromatics but the palate is not overly heavy and this retains reasonable elegance/balance. I would drink this sooner rather than later. A very solid effort in a difficult vintage.

An evening with Ib B (Frederiksberg): Rich, balanced with sweet, dissolved tannins. So much concentration here. Way to go, yet, on the next day, no signs of fatigue. Still quite tight, very young. 94+ (Provenance: ?)

Has the darkest fruit profile of the flight; lots of material here in terms of tannic structure; brightest acidity among the wines in this flight lend an energy that could make this the best of the bunch in the long run. Lovely, lovely wine but not quite as harmonious as the Cascina Francia currently; could certainly see this winning out two decades down the line though. 94-95+?

Leo's Blind Tasting Group - May '14 edition (Ben's (NYC)): A jawdropper. This has it all. Such an incredible aroma with layers of red fruit, truffles, earth, floral notes, and other savoury elements coming together on the nose and palate, and all conveyed with remarkable purity and finesse. The texture on the palate is pure silk, and the finish seems to resonate for minutes. Absolutely amazing wine.

Decanted an hour. Shows a bit of age in color. Ripe, robust nose that really soars. Ripe and just a touch lush, as to be expected for the vintage - but not at all over the top. Good finish and still showing its tannins. This is very good, but maybe just short of a great Giacosa for me - but no one will complain about this one. Might improve but good now with some air. A-

Absolutely stunning nose of ripe strawberries, dried roses, some dark fruit and slight meaty nose. Deep and concentrated palate of deliciously sweet ripe and tremendously pure fruit. Sleek and sexy with fabulous depth. Feels like a Burgundy with pleasantly dry tannin. Superb length and grip. So good now and you know it will only get better.

Chicago Wine Flock...Giacosa Dinner Courtesy of Tim (Telegraph - chicago IL): First time I've had this wine. Glad I bought that 6-pack at release! Wow, this was beautiful tonight after lots of decanter time, but clearly showing amazing potential. Sensational aromas of red berries and cherries with amazing rose, fresh herbs, cloves, anise complements. starts with big fruit, then a bit austere in the middle, but an explosive, powerful finish.

Chicago Wine Flock...Giacosa Dinner Courtesy of Tim (Telegraph - chicago IL): All red cherry and berry start-to-finish. Some licorice, black pepper and slightly floral. Good length, moderate structure. Consistent with previous bottles, this is at a great place now, not a wine to hold long-term in the cellar.

This may have been an off bottle, perhaps heat damaged as it had a pruney taste throughout that never blew off. Consumed over a few hours watching the NBA playoffs. Definitely not a pop and pour wine. I noticed a few other notes that suggested that extended decanting might have made a difference.

Barolo Cru Dinner (La Pentola): Served blind – dusty and floral nose with hints of roses and tar—a very classy and pretty nose. Structured on the palate but also elegant with its pretty red fruits and floral undertones. Finish is extremely long. My WOTN. Needs time but drinking well enough to warrant opening a bottle. Outstanding.

Double decanted. Great wine. Pure and focused. One of the best bouquets I have ever experienced in a wine. Kaleidoscopic nose with all kinds of flowers, dark berries and spices, incredibly complex. On the palate this is just perfect. Very creamy and complex fruit, layer upon layer. Perfectly balanced and pure. One of the best wines I have ever had. Tasted alongside the Rabaja Ris 2001, this was the clear winner.

Supposedly all the Rocche went into a white label this year and it is a delicious and superbly balanced Barolo that is still quite young but showing beautifully. Classic flavors of tar and roses along with deep cherry notes and scents of underbrush. Finishes tannic and dry but with perfect ripeness and lovely licorice notes that would suggest it will continue to age very well. 93+

Decanted for three hours. The nose and colour are indicative of each other, they are honestly kin, showing so much ripe strawberry. The nose continues with button mushrooms, turmeric, sweet basil, rose petal and sun drenched river pebbles. Less velvety than other Barolos from 2005, yet well-strewn tannins persist. There's a welcomed tension through out. Drink 2015 - 2030.
