Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75): Crimson with a bit of chocolate in the core with orange crimson rim; menthol, sandy, cherry, dried red fruit, orange oil; sweet, softer, good nobility, grainy tannin, Burg-ish, hints of cedar; very good.

Would be a very nice house wine in a good restaurant, but it is not an attention getter. May improve with some age, however, seems it should be more of a force to be dealt with now if that is the case. It is a bit astringent out of the bottle, smooths out into a very drinkable wine, but drinks like a wine in the $30 range, not $80. Not by a long shot. Good wine. Overpriced. Put it this way, Bonnie poured the rest of her glass in mine so she wouldn't waste the calories. That's a pretty big statement around here.

Decanted 4-6 hours. Wonder if it didn't really need long decant because it seemed to soften too much and nose was very light compared to previous tasting. Still lovely, very well balanced. Long finish.

Same style as the regular 2007 Brunello but with a more complex body and elegance. Bought for 40 € whereas the regular Brunello is about 24 €. The Riserva is really good, but not so good that it always makes sense to pay 16 € more.

Fantastic wine but I did not take notes due to the six bottles we had consumed beforehand.

Smooth and mellow. Very brick colored on the edges. Decanted for an hour and then drank over dinner. Loved it.

Tasted at the winery along side '06 La Casa & '06 Brunello - best of the three. Deep purple, Spicy, concentration of of red fruits and well integrated. Some oak. Drinking quite nice now. Wil only get better with a few years.

Aromatic. Smooth on the palate. Chocolate, cherry, tobacco, cedar. Tannins seem largely resolved. This is in a good spot right now for current drinking.

tasted @ Vinorama Classic Event: "elegant" is the best word to describe this Brunello, juicy style with ripe tannins, fine cherry fruit, quite approachable for a Riserva, great food wine. excellent. - 92 points

Over the hill. Light amber, limp texture thin on palate with faded sweet fruit, no tannins to provide structure and almost nonexistant finish. Past its prime if there was a prome.

Interestingly dense nose. On first pour it seemed weak and feeble, but it came together in the glass with a little time. Baked sweet cherries, almond paste, and ripe berrries. The body is surprisingly taut and mouthcoating, with a smooth finesse going down. Just a hint of pepper on the sides of the tongue. Very ripe and excellent with plum and cherries. Lovely, reserved tannins. I disagree with previous raters, this wine still has a lot to give. I would avoid decanting and just let this thing wash over you.

I'm a complete idiot. Got some stuff pulled back from offsite, was sorting through and popped this bottle, not recognizing it was the same thing I opened a couple of days ago. On the other hand, it's quite a lesson, because my impression this evening is quite different from my earlier note.

This time around, I don't get "modern", and the "chocolate" somewhat subdued. This time, I get bold spicy aromatics. On the palate, balanced fruit and acidity, with a nice dollop of cedar tinged wood. More tannins than I recall from the earlier bottle.

I wonder to what degree bottle treatment might influence some of these differences. The last bottle had been standing up for several weeks, while this one came right off the truck.

No detailed notes, but I really enjoyed this one. Modern in style, big fruit, chocolate. Still a bit tight on opening. I'll look fwd to seeing how this develops with another few years. But it's doing very well for current drinking, evidenced by the fact that it lasted about 30 minute with my wife and I sharing it!

Initially it seemed as if there was a hint of oxidation...The wine has been in my cellar since release, therefore not a storage issue. This seemed to lessen a bit with time. Very ripe, pruny nose. Very soft and lush in the mouth..Sweet finish. Could use more acid..this wine should have been drunk a few years ago.

12/15/2011 and 12/19/2011 w venison Bourgone dinner. Light ruby rimmed, moderate to light bodied with little coherent structure, some dark fruit but little coherent flavor and mostly flat finish. Over the hill, my impression of a previous bottle as well. Better drinking 10 years ago.

Bottle and fill excellent, the cork crumbled and came out in 2 pieces. Dull red and never becoming bright garnet, this wine is very flat and austere. No significant development with a few hours in the decater. I doubt that this was ever an exciting wine and is now just thin, bitter and disappointing.

WineFanatic Tuscany Offline (Vancouver, BC): Tasted blind – Darker red in colour. This jumped out with a nice nose of manure which eventually blew off leaving notes of cherries, something and toasty oak. In the mouth there are notes of cherries, earth and plums with lots of structure yet this seems more approachable than the Vigna La Casa and I think it’s got more potential too. Drinks fairly well now but will be better in 3-5 years. Excellent. 90+

For a brunello, it opened up quickly. Decanted for 1 hour. Nose notes of fresh fruits, ripened blackcurrant, warm cherries, oak, hints of honey and smoke. Alcohol on palate on first impression, subdued tannin, unfortunately losing its aromatic sustainability. Very 'French' style, emphasis on aromatic nose, lacking in structural layers characteristic of Sangiovese and for its brunello style. I don't think cellaring will improve its character, drink soon.
2004 Caparzo Brunello Ris 香氣如成熟黑醋栗,櫻桃,橡木,蜂蜜,草本,和煙燻的香氣味. 酒體醇厚,芳香口感温和,平稳單寧和酒酸. 香辣尾韻,‘法国’样式葡萄酒.

Beautiful bouquet with some earthy impression, black fruits and sweet licorice root. Very juicy on the palate with good bitterness and soft but powerful and beautiful tannin. A wine with great complexity and oh so friendly as well. I love it! (The community average value of $1650.00 per bottle at the moment must be a mistake….)
