Decanted and let open for three hours. Nice wine but too acidic.

Very pretty nose of blue and black fruit, some spice and pepper. Forward and ripe. Sleek and smooth on the palate. Powerful but elegant. Long finish.

A Privileged Colgin Tasting (One Market, San Francisco): The highly perfumed nose gives way to a delicious, medium bodied wine featuring some floral notes, crushed gravel and sweet tannins. Drinking at peak, but surely no rush here.

Tasted blind. Polished and open nose - more black then red fruit some herbs and spice. Palate has smooth black fruit. Tannin seems resolved. Blind - this is tough to place as Cab. Well made.

Thanks, Steve for sharing this one. Decanted at 7:15, started tasting after 45min and it hadn't budged. We could tell it was a really nice wine but it was way too closed. After three hours it changed a bit and released some great aromas (balanced fruit and earth) and became fuller in body. Sadly, with the last sips we had to agree it was way too early to open any more of these! V nice wine.

Still sporting a depth of color for its age, this is stunning from the first sniff, swirl and sip. Where do you start with this wine? Is it the texture with its silky, velvet textured mouth feel? Perhaps it’s the layers of the perfectly ripe, spicy, fresh, clean, pure berries. Or is it the intense aromas of blackberry, truffle, spice and earth? At the end of the day, it does not matter where you start or finish with this elixir. This is a reference point wine for Colgin Cellars and California Cabernet Sauvignon.

Eugene brought to dinner. Amazing wine. Bordeaux in style. Beautifully integrated with balanced tannins and acidity. Herbaceous with dried flowers, some petrol.

Deep in color, the wine pops with blackberry, blue fruit, cinnamon, vanilla, cherry liqueur, licorice and charcoal. The wine is thick, rich, concentrated and intense, with soft, dusty tannins. On the palate, this dense wine ends with cassis and cranberry. From 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, the remainder of the blend consists of Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. In fact, the 2010 Tychson Hill is the first vintage to include fruit from the recently planted Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot vines.

Decanted for 1 hour, drank over 2 hours. Still needed much more air. A big forward wine, but elegant with spice, dark coffee, cocoa, spice and deep red and black fruit. This had heft but was silky on the palate with great balance and a long smooth finish. It will be interesting to try again in a few years.

slow ox'd for 11 hours and then aerated and decanted at restaurant. Had a sip before recorking/taking to the restaurant and not much going on but not in a bad way. From prior experiences I've had with wines that start out with no real taste or body, they have turned out wonderful after a number of hours in a decanter (e.g. 1997 araujo and 2001 Napa valley reseve)
this wine was the same. after allowing the wine to open in the decanter after an hour or so, wonderfully smooth as silk palate with delicious red and blue berry flavors. Nice fine tannins with rather lengthy finish. Just so damn tasty. Definitely has the stuffing for another 10 plus years. definite rebuy at the right price.

Deep in color, with a perfume filled with vanilla, 5 spice, blue fruit and blackberry liqueur. Rich, powerful, concentrated and structured, this combines the best of hedonism and cerebral attributes.

Spice, black cherry liqueur and incense aromas open to a silky, jammy, powerful sweet, tannic, wine with a jammy black cherry finish. There is a touch of heat in the finish.

Wanted to open one of these even though I knew it may be young. Amazing wine. Powerful, Napa cab on the nose. Medium weight with excellent mouthfeel. Tannins are high but not overpowering and very well integrated. Finish lasted longer than 30 seconds. This is already an amazing young wine and can't wait to try again in 5 years.

Much more accessible than last bottle in 2007 which was hard, acidic, tannic and not at all generous. This was totally different, mature, ripe, sweet, still with a touch of an acidic and tannic edge in the beginning but softening all evening.

Sweet, somewhat odd nose with grapefruit juice notes overlaying red and black fruit. Sweet palate - good density and ripeness for the vintage. Well balanced. Very nice.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Deep dark color. Richly perfumed nose, lots of black fruit, vanilla and chocolate. Super ripe fruit was much less interesting to me on the palate. Lots of big mouth texture with plenty of spice on the finish.

Started slow for me but ended up wine of the night. Nice nose of fruit including some earthy notes and an interesting whiff of old English tobacco smoke. Filled the palate with cassis, plum, cocoa and some herbs. Very nice.
