Taste of mandarin orange, green apple, pear, floral notes. A little bitter on front end. The texture is rather thick. Faint straw color. The floral note has an artificial tinge, perfumey. |

8/29/2015 - Mootsie Likes this wine: NRGreat example of the improving quality of Colorado wines. Typical cab flavors: cigar box, dark cherry, earth and a little oak. Ready to go almost from pop and pour. No overly sweet, tourist town pour. If the label said Napa instead of Olathe, Colorado, there would be a $45 price tag instead of $17 I paid. A hidden gem IMHO. |

6/2/2015 - Ckaz44 wrote: 92 pointsSecond bottle better than the first. Extremely funky barnyard nose. Strong nose of cheese/mushroom. Funky nose blows off after awhile to reveal strawberry and forest floor as there is some fruit left. Some sediment. Slight astringency and rather short finish but a great experience overall. If you like mature pinot this is for you. |

5/31/2015 - Ckaz44 wrote: 89 pointsOver the hill and a bit thin/short however given the age this was pretty tasty. Fully mature and bricked. The quality and purity of the fruit is apparent and one has to wonder how good this must have been 5+ years ago. Tasting notes include leather, barnyard, pine and red fruits(faded). Impressive burgundian style. |

10/11/2014 - oldwines wrote: 93 pointsMature looking pinot noir, with some bricking on the edge. Nose has some alcohol that doesn't blow off with time, cherry, tar and burnt salmon skin. It took hours for this to come around but in the end it was very pleasant. On the palate it was lots of cherry and herbs and spices that at first reminded me of a dentist office but later seemed more floral and attractive. Curious mixed bag that is not nearly as good as the previous bottles of other single vineyard wines from Nichols. |

7/24/2014 - ISOPinot Does not like this wine: 78 pointsBrick red color. No legs. Aroma of earth and dust is prominent, faint aroma of sour cherry. Very tart with minimal finish. Supposedly a Bordeaux-style blend, but not true to any of the included varietals. Something did not come together here. Overall impression: a wine trying to taste like Pinot Noir which did not succeed. Tasted over 3 days with no improvement nor softening over time. Non-vintage; no date information noted on label. |
