The wine looks inky colored. The legs are medium. There is heavy sediment in the bottle. The body is medium/full. The wine has satin-like texture. The wine finishes medium. The wine has medium acidity.

Course, rustic, Dark fruit. One of my favorites

Powerfull boy, especially considering the vintage. It is hard to disregard the pruny, extracted notes, a trade mark of the hourse, I guess, and yes, there are burnt notes, but the balance just holds, and it is still Cornas, and if you drink it with food (spicy lamb, f.ex.), it will woth. My experience with this cuvée tells me, that there is no need to hold it any further.

Fine tannins, very prominent. Some green notes and bitterness, noticeable oak on the finish. Dark but not that concentrated, beautiful smoke and floral nose. This needs years in the cellar but will be awesome. 92 now, possibly 94 in 5-10 yrs

Dark, rich, and bold young Cornas. The nose has lots of smoked meat with black raspberry, black currant, and other dark fruit. There is an underlying hint of stoniness. The palate is rich with fruit and has hints of pepper and a lovely lively finish. This is very good.

Full body. Dark and dried fruits, some smoke and chocolate. Very good drinking right now. Make sure you decant for 2 hours. Enjoy!

Blind Pinots and Syrahs at David's (Enfield, CT): Quite a contrast to the Arnot-Roberts Clary Ranch Syrah, this isn't as peppery or spicy, it's more low-toned aromatically with savoury earthy, meaty and smoky flavours, and a faint oak accent that's rather understated in the background. There's a sense of restrained power here, it's brooding and tannic, but the balance is fantastic and I imagine this could be something really great with some cellar time.

Another excellent wine, and also not out of place in this grouping. Probably the most integrated of the Syrahs, with more depth of meat, minerals and smoke, and less obvious fruit. Actually neck and neck with the Arnot-Roberts for the most Syrah-ness of the flight.

Had this last night in Paris. Everything you'd expect from a good Cornas. Tannins are now fully integrated, nothing sticking out. Very pure wine, still quite dark. Smokey nose with dark fruit and spice. quite balanced with a long finish. I liked it

Beautiful and a bit smoky bouquet. A somewhat sweet start. On the palate red as well as black fruits, black olives as well. Juicy and ripe tannin. The sweetness is evident. The wine is ready and will offer pleasant drinking from now until at least 2013.

Rich aromatic nose of blackberry, black pepper, and black olive. Still a bit tight and could have used at least another year of cellaring. Excellent length, however.

Light ruby red with an iron-rich blackcurrant fruit nose. Dense, dark and spicy palate with black fruits and fine ripe tannins. Sweeter fruit appears on the finish with notes of cherry and violet. Very good.

Dinner with GaryV and Friends (Mado, chicago IL): nose: real deep and powerful nose of olives, black cherries, all sorts of meaty tones, liqueur and some bits of purple florals. Tight, but showing off a real brute of a wine

taste: big and full bodied with big tannins and deep tones of olives, black cherries, liqueur and a lot of black fruits. A lot of depth on this with the tannins that one would expect from a young cornas. The palate is being held back a bit

overall: This could be a real stunner in the making. A lot of depth and power, this had a real class to it to go with the power. Will certainly need time, but it should really blossom when it does get some age on it

Dinner in Chicago (w/ GV); 2/18/2010-2/19/2010 (Mado, Wicker Park, Chicago, Illinois): Just as I poured this bottle, we were served a braised beef's tounge. Wow. Ok, for those of you all about wine pairings, this is a MUST. Wine felt a bit salty (which I liked), probably from the olive flavor that I got. It also had a really nice and well developed red and black fruit component. The final part, and something that I loved is the smoked ham/meats aspect of this. Really nice.

Opened with smoke, and dominant leather. After three hours or so in the glass took on a great bacon and dark fruit component. Overall more advanced than I would have guessed, but very good. Wish I had some more bottles of this one. Very great wine.

Quite reticent - oddly almost Cabernet Sauvignon like nose. Opens out with air to a blend of red and black currants with bacon fat. Big, bold palate with huge fruit overlaying a massive quantity of tannin. Some subtle secondary, slightly meaty character also present. Poised at the finish and very long - gorgeous wine but very much a vin de gard.
