Truly outstanding wine--lush on the plate, dense black fruits, almost plummy, exceptional length, silky, rich and very intense, certainly the finest Chambolle Charmes I ever had, simply extraordinary balance of fruit and tannin. While denser and with more of a black fruit taste, it rivaled many bottles of Amoureuses I've had. Absolutely ready now but certainly will last three or more years. Absolutely no bottle variation across a case served to guests.

Gentle nose of strawberry jam. Lovely balance here, elegant with notes of light red fruit and roses. Excellent acidity. A feminine expression of the appellation.

this showed exceptionally well and seems right in the sweet spot of evolution now. expressive nose, great energy and vibrancy in the body and length. went back to some remains in the bottle 3 hours later and all fireworks were gone. So perhaps time to drink.

2007 Pinot Noir from Baden & Bourgogne (Home): Light and transparent crimson red. In the nose, this is super fragrant, jumps out of the glass in an airy way. It's very elegant, there's raspberry and griotte cherry as well as floral notes. Very Chambolle in character. On the palate, it's light, but you can feel the structure, the tannins and acidity are mild and give more an invisible structure rather than make themselves heard. Floral and red berry notes again. Remarkably long finish. This is pure understatement, great wine.

Elegant and reserved. plums, earth, dark cherry and stawberries. Aromatic and smooth mouthfeel. Great wine in a good place

I was disappointed with this wine. I will assume that it is just a bad time to drink it as the nose was really quite nice - lots of earth and cool Pinot fruit. The palate is the issue tonight as it is flat out bitter on the finish. My experience with wines from Ponsot is checkered at best. I own a good stash and therefore hope it is just a matter of time .... (85+?)

What a pleasure. Notes of red and black cherries, pepper and floral over notes. Great core of fruit, very fine and elegant. I opened this several hours before serving and let the bottle breathe. Delicious and can easily age another decade.

Pop 'n decant, followed over 8 hours...definitely early but checking in on these.

First pour was a bit muted, but it opens up a bit after a couple hours...nose of cranberry, black cherry, subtle baking spices underneath, hints of black tea, wet leaves, yeasty bread, mint, orange peel. Tart acidity could use some food to tame it. Finish grips pretty hard with fine tannins that still need some time to mellow.

Give these a few more years to come together, and they'll probably drink well for a couple more decades after that. 90+

Not the best example, the gods did not smile... The wine's faults were more pronounced - lack of density, coarseness, yet this retains its sweet core.

A private dinner (Restaurant Aqua ***, Wolfsburg, Germany): Very stemmy nose, high-toned but deep and and energetic; very elegant and minerally, relatively tight and structured, good length. Not really charming or feminine, may be in a somewhat dumb phase.

This seems to have really turned the corner just recently. With a touch of air, the wine really blossomed, showing bright, sappy depth and intensity that is more akin to a grand Cru than a 1er Cru. It is immensely satisfying and a good indicator for the 2000 vintage.

ワイン会 (ミエル、横浜市戸部): What a fine Burgundy!
Grand nose of behind-of-horse and leather, mimicking a finer Musar (without the strong backbone).
In the mouth this is an elegant structure where you find things like zesty acids, molten tannins, bretty jewels and good body. This is quite delicious, but I'd choose two btls of Musar before one of this, any day of the week. Because this is quite similar to a good Musar at twice the price...
Did well with the food.

Gravelly, succulent and anything but lean as one taster found - this has retained the spicy tartness and added lucscious fruit, moist earth, and steely minerality. Don't expect to be Musigny, but for what it is it is lovely!

11 th Burgundy tasting - Reds part II (@ Rotterdam, Netherlands): …and we’re back to the wines that were doubly decanted at 08.30hrs. This one is medium intense, somewhat translucent ruby at the core. The nose starts us off at medium intensity and offers up refined notes of candied red fruits, sweet soy sauce and a hint of game. I’ve tasted examples of this vineyard from a handful of domaines, but the nose wasn’t very typical at this showing. Not quite medium-plus bodied on the attack, some positively silky, high-quality medium tannins and medium-plus acidity are somehow buffered completely by at most medium intense strawberry and cherry flavours, which receive added complexity on the mid-palate from a liquorice-like mineral edge. The finish continues in the same vein for 25-30 seconds. While this is by no means a bad wine and the matière seems first rate, I would have expected more from this famous domaine. So, 89 points for this showing and I expect that to rise to the low nineties in five years from now. .......... TN Mike de Lange.

Light impression on the nose, young. Generous and charming but does not possess the minerality, says Allen. Pleasant but not profound, yet nice vitality.

Pretty and pure. I was actually expecting this to be a fruit bomb, but it's anything but. It's actually very perfumed and airy, with lots of rosy floral aromas on top of the red fruits and a misty, cloud-like palate presence, pretty much the opposite of anything inky or syrupy although by no means light-bodied. It seems softly structured on its own but the tannins actually got more edgy with food, not the usual order of things but it showed there is some structure lurking in that mist. I don't know if this is worth the price premium for the Ponsot name as it runs over $100 and won't be mistaken for grand cru, but if you take price out of the equation it's an exceptionally pretty Chambolle.
