CT seems divided on this one. Not sure if it's bottle variation or what but this was an excellent bottle for me. Drank with bbq dinner with a Drouhin Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru as well and this soundly was preferred by all. Bigger full bodied with a lot of fruit. More to the darker fruit side of things with some interesting spice notes. Liked this a lot. Glad since it was a bit on the expensive side.

Opened this 14 year old bottle to a delightful maderia nose, dark carmael color and very subtle and complex flavors of light toast, honeysuckle and fig.

B-day dinner at our house with Lauren/Colin/Chiemi/Eileen...very nice evening with my Dijon chicken burgers and Italian potatoes, the crowd favortite...

Its been a few years since I have had this wine. Bought on release and in my cellar since - last two bottles. May have settled a bit, from memory, since last tasting. I like Tony Soter wines, reasonable balance between fruit forward Calif style and teasing out the nuance in pinot. Our crowd love this wine, drank after Galerie Sauv Blanc...

Short splash decant, nose was red fruits, earth. Palate was ripe red fruits, raspberry, floral notes, garrigue. Delicate mouth feel - esp for a Calif Pinot and medium/long finish. You have to like the style, I think this was well made and in its proper drinking zone right now. Would drink over next 2 years.

Fuller bodied style. Wonderfully deeply pitched with deep red fruit. Nose is starting to show some soy and spices. Don't see a reason to hold longer.

Quite a bit different than the bottle I had a couple of months ago. Not super aromatic, but what's there gives off a pleasant sense of perfume. On the palate, nicely balanced. Good fruit depth with just the right amount of counterbalancing acidity. Unlike the last bottle, which seemed over the hill, this one seems like it could've lasted another 5 years.

Had high expectations for this and it fell short. I have had other vintages of the heirloom and enjoyed them. This one fell flat and was uninteresting to me. Everything was blah. Maybe it was an off bottle or off night for me?

Luscious red cherry notes on the nose here, deep and licoriced. This has layered red and black cherry flavors, sweet and ripe on the front, verging into raspberry licorice, and tart on the back. A bit of asperity on the back suggests to me it's time to drink before you lose the fruit.

Pop/pour. Pretty tight. Better with 30 minutes in the glass. Fairly heavy in terms of mouth feel, perhaps just slightly short on the fruit given that. Seems slightly out of balance to me. I suspect this might have been better a couple years ago. Certainly drinkable now, but not worth the tariff in its present form.

Drank along side an '08 Etude Tembler. While this wine was less expressive on the nose and palate, overall it was smoother and more elegant. We all preferred the Tembler on this evening.

60 min decant- full bodied, in fact, can't recall a fuller bodied pinot, not fully integrated but a couple of years away from prime, a touch of heat on the tail end which should go away in 4 plus years, some spice box ok finish. Great wine. Average value.

Wowza, engulfing nose that controls you. Dark in glass. Classic expression of what true cold climate carneros PN can be. Long finish that doesn't seem to end. Young, fresh, even somewhat tannic; this is going to last a long time. Hold on to it.

Really coming out and drinking great right now. Structure is still there, acid intact. Reminded me a little of necco wafer candies if your from the Northeast. But in general really morphed together a true pleasure to taste.

Interestingly young. This seems like a 4-5 year old pinot. Dark ruby to the rim. Strong plums and cherry cola aromas. Full and quite tasty with sweet pretty tiny blue and black fruit and earth. Alcohol sticks out slightly on the end. This is probably a $90 bottle and it is not a great value. Possibly in an awkward phase. Something like the brute unyielding nature of 1995 red burgundies. At $20 I'd jump up and down. My grade factors in the very expensive price.

The fruit, or at least most of it, is still there, but for me it is now too tart, both in the mid palate and the finish. Nine years is really a stretch for a Cal PN.
