Double-decanted and consumed about 2.5 hours after opening. Still some tart cherry on the mid-palate and a very grippy finish, this wasn't the most complex wine at the table but was certainly enjoyable. I'm not sure there's quite enough acidity left to make me want to hold on to the rest, but this is a perfectly serviceable example of an aged Sangiovese, and worth every penny at the mid-$20s price point.

Yeah, generally agree with Scott's impression here. Deep crimson coloring. Aromas of cherry, licorice, flowers, herbs, and earth, all of which showing themselves more with 1-2 hrs. in glass & decanter. Medium+ body, acid & finish, with similar flavors on the palate. There's a nice floral lift on the backend. Enough structure to give this some backbone, but this is ready to go IMO. I'd drink over the next 2-3 yrs, but I've already gone through 2 of 4. Red sauce, pizza...you know the drill.

Big floral nose, strawberry black cherry, earthy with good tannic grip, sipping before dinner seems a bit rounder than I like and not living up to the beautiful nose, but with dinner the acid and tannic grip takes hold? Interesting and good food wine. Still fresh..like this producer a lot.

This wine is a tannic monster! I have 10 more bottles left and to get an idea of what I should expect, I tasted this bottle on day 1, day 2 and day 3. Finally, by day three you could see some of the fruit behind the tannins. But until those tannins tame, it is really a hard wine to drink, with or without food. My plan is to leave this wine till 2017, try again then, if it is better, great, if not, just feel sorry I have more of it. Day one ratting 80. day 2 85, day 3 86.

We had this twice at a restaurant in Venice over the summer and liked it. So I jumped on buying some when WL had it for $30. Overall, a very solid Brunello. Nice texture and pretty good balance. Paired well with both pizza and pesto chicken on two different nights. Good acidity and tannins that are still a bit firm. I think this will likely get better but is certainly drinking pretty well now. Will hold off on my remaining 4 bottles for awhile. Quite happy with this for $30. Would not have been so happy at $60.

This wine was really hyped. I bought a case, opened the first bottle and am very disappointed. Paid $35/ I just do not see value in the wine. Totally flat and uninteresting for a Brunello. Since I have a case I will try again in a month or two, but I am not optimistic. What I though was going to be a great "weekend wine" may be a mediocre weekday wine.

Decanted for one hour and drunk over another hour. Menthol on the nose; cherry and red berries on the palate, with strong acidity and tannins a bit more aggressive than I have found in other 2006 Brunellos. The flavors and tannins are starting to integrate, but this still seems very young, and I expect it to improve significantly with more time. I will wait three or four years before opening another bottle.

was strongly corked upon opening. The bad nose went away after 30 min or so, but the resulting nose was ok, but nothing to write home about -- having some floral and dark berry components. However, after this wait, the palate was strikingly lacking in any detail, any real goodness -- just flat juice. Not particularly ugly juice, just lacking in any real character. The one overwhelming aspect seemed to be some oxidation, so I suspect this bottle got exposed along the way, and just croaked.

A remarkably dull and uninspiring wine, even for such a promising vintage. A mute nose is followed by a monolithic, generic red table wine palate that reveals noting about the magic of this wine's birth place. Letting the wine breeze overnight did not yield even a hint of evolving aromatics. Either this wine has completely shut down at this time or it was not well made. A remarkably boring effort from a producer that peaked my interest 2 years earlier with an expressive '06 Madonna delle Grazie. What happened?

6+ hr decant
nose - plum, fig, floral, excotic wow nose
mouth - opens with aeration time, a juicy and refreshing burst of cherry, plum, and red berry fruits, reminiscent of fruit punch, but in a attractive excotic way. followed by serious dry mouthcaoting tannins, and a long dry finish. this wine is delicious. drinking well now if paired with a big meal but OK to hold for forseable future. Wish I got more of these. reminiscent of high end Bordeaux but super dry on the finish. Galloni's WA review is on the mark.

Decanted 1.5 hours. Blueberry, boysenberry, nice candy nose. Lots of fruit on the nose. Dry taste. Medium high acid. Black currant, very dry. Nice mix of traditional Brunello and new world flavors. Little too sharp on the flavor, little hint of raspberry flavors. Lot of plum coming through on the flavor.

One of the best Brunello wines I have had recently. This is fantastic. The nose is full of fresh blueberries, hand lotion/nail polish remover (not in a bad way at all). Great full, rich taste on the palate covered with milk chocolate, blueberry, blackberry jam, some earth, Indian spices and cherry licorice. Perfectly balanced. Drinking great now, but can easily do with another 10 years. A great value on this one, worth picking up a lot more.
