Pretty deep garnet, soft red-fruit aromas. Palate shows mulled plum and baked cherry, but with little tannin nor acidity to keep flavors in good balance. Perhaps a bit over its prime, but still very enjoyable, if a tad simple. Medium finish.

Perhaps in a dormant stage. The first time I tried this wine a few years ago I loved it. Reading the reviews this year, it appears the is trending south quickly. This bottle was good, but something was missing. It just didn't have the balance that the previous wine has. the fruit was there on the first attack but then seemed to disappear in the mid-pallate, then a decent finish. I have two left and will risk holding them for a few years to come around.

Needs at least an hour decant. Nice structure and finish. Fruit is a bit muted for my liking.

Sangiovesi and merlot mix from Umbria. Cherries and bright acidity from the former, mellowed out by the latter. Ready to drink with a short decant. Mellow and inobstrusive tannins. Good value

This wine needs an hour decant to open up. It changes immensely over an hour.

Deep garnet color. Cherry, blueberry, tobacco and deep red fruit on the nose. On the palate...medium bodied, raspberry, blueberry and a little heat and spice. Goes from bold fruit to a little watery to a tannic/hot finish. Needs to smooth out. Still quite tannic in my opinion and reasonably acidic. This could cellar for another few years and possibly smooth out.

All and all a really enjoyable wine if you can avoid the PnP and let it breath an hour. This will be better in 2 years.

This bottle had lots of dust and leather to go with the pencil lead and minerality. Possibly the fruit and charm will again emerge tomorrow.

Not sure about this one. Cork stained up to about the 2/3 mark, but the wine seemed ok. Had heard good things from a friend so will save judgement for the 2nd bottle.

C: Surprisingly dark, with little bricking. N: Dusty cellar, loads of leather, some oak. P: More dusty, earthy flavors, dry black cherry, leather, pronounced tannins and acidity. Medium body. F: Medium with drying, firm tannins on the back end and a classic Italian profile. While the cork in this showed running around half way, this is very good and drinking surprisingly young. Very nice.
Edit: This was even better 2 days later after being in the 'fridge. Still enough dark fruit, but loads of tannic structure.

I'm getting floral notes, funk, and pencil lead with minerality, any fruit is very muted, light body, short finish. Not bad but disappointing: perhaps shouldn't have opened a bottle the day it arrived. ** Poured a glass 48 hrs later: the red fruit (cherry, strawberry) and spice notes dominated both on the nose and the palate. So maybe this wine just needed a little air.

Nice black fruits aromas right after opening.
Full bodied, sweet soften tannins and vanilla.
Taste nice in a 3 hour meal.
Can be cellar for 3-5 years at least.

Pop and pour. Very ripe and fruity forward style. Mix of perfume like french oak aroma, cherry, stony mineral earth on nose. Quite aromatic. The body was relatively thin and easy. Good fruity cherry favour on palate with good amount of tannin and minerals. Very delicious and yummy. A perfect wine drink with food. Need to drink now.

Funky barnyard profile that stays with the wine. Aerated and decanted but still needs an hour before some fruit opens up. Primarily coffee and burnt toast flavors are predominant, mild vegetal notes with an austere and drying tannic finish. Full body and needs food. Complex but funk tends to hide some of the good qualities. I don't think it is ready yet.

Huge nose, spicy olives and black pepper. Big rich palate with abundant tannins and a little mineral streak that gives this an immense backbone.Drinking beautifully though may still have a little potential for more. Lots of depth and character.

Tasted double blind. Beautiful nose of old oak, damp soil, and mocha that comes together very harmoniously. Cracked black pepper and fresh green bell pepper on the front end. Fruit entering its prime. Deep, rich mid palate. Leather finish. My #2 of the evening. I had no idea what region this came from. Arbitrarily guessed Priorat.

three years after, another bottle of campoleone 2004. Slow to open up, intense hints on leather, at the mouth reveals taste of graphite, meat and chocolate. Some liquorice too in a slight bitter finish. Great stuff but will not improve with time. Drink up

After a disappointing first bottle (corked) this one is in fine condition with aromas of dark fruit. Gave this a quick decant and found it pleasant and enjoyable although i did not take a TN as i was playing host. when i revisited several hrs later i noticed that there was a noticeable streak of mineral and the wine seemed to indicate it's ialian origins in the flavor profile. Nice.
