Moderate color and still vibrant red after six years. Complex nose dried fruit, rustic notes, bit of volatility, stewy and peppery. In the mouth the acid is balanced and the tannins soft. The flavor are fruit driven, spicy and rustic with a bit of oak and oxidation showing. Overall this is a pleasant wine but there is more than a hint of VA in the finish. Glad I opened it as it is probably going down from here.

A completely different animal and an exciting surprise with very few California white dessert wine peers at this high level of quality. 6 months of cold fermentation preserves huge aromas of orange blossom, caramel, and apricot with a touch of Sauternes-Botrytis character from this orange-gold wine. Almost a lite syrup and nectar-like, similar to the juice from a can of peaches with layers and layers of complex honey, mandarin orange, peach, dried apricot and a touch of walnut. Though aged in 100% new French oak, the only indication of so much cooperage is perhaps the layer of caramel, vanilla and spice. The long finish is full of maple, caramel and butterscotch. At 11% alcohol, this won’t knock you under the table. I would love to have this with a creme brule or foie gras.

Ruby red. Nose of smoke, spices, cedar. Palate has red fruits, raspberries and strawberries. Tannins are fully resolved/missing. A little sweetness on the finish. Fairly simple red, drinking well now, so drink up.

Rich golden color. Almost no nose detectable at all. The palate is luscious, creamy with strong oak overtones. Not much in the way of fruit. Enjoy if this floats your boat.
