Had high hopes for this but was a little let down. Should have waited another 5 years to open. Very hot! Nearly overwhelmingly so. You could tell there was some great potential there but hard to get to it through all the alcohol.

Great nose of cassis, smoke, and herbs. The palate is bright with more cassis and some bright raspberries. Long and delicious with some remaining drying tannins.

05 Seven Stones, 03 Clos des Papes (The front patio): Pop and pour, but this wine does need some air or time. In any event, it drank very well with the last glass the best. Purple/ruby in color. Jane said there was some browning, but I didn't see it. Great nose of cassis, and cherries with some sandalwood. Full bodied. complex on the palate, but still not at peak. Nice finish. This is a great wine and delivers. A bit too pricey for me but glad I still have a few vintages in the cellar.

Blackberry and licorice notes. Plush tannins, with full bodied sweet fruit flavors. The cassis flavor is particularly pronounced. Well balanced, with decent backbone and acidity. Drinking well at this time, but this only got better over the 2-3 hours the bottle was open. I suspect this will age quite nicely.

had it open for a couple hours, then decanted for an hour and put back in bottle. Still very young but a super wine that went well with the Veal I had and held its own vs the 2005 Phelps Insignia that Andy brought. Great wine, will let my others get some more bottle age.

A bit early but just a fabulous cabernet at this point in what I believe will be a long lifetime. Nose contains tobacco, blackberry, and boysenberry with a hint of cocoa. Palate is highly structured with intense dark fruits and cocoa dust. Finish sails on for over a minute. A classy and distinct style of wine. I'll wait a couple years for this to integrate even further.

Big big big. 2 hours in the decanter and did I mention "big"? dark fruit and smooth tannin all in balance. I bet this could go another 20 years.

Decanted for 2+ hours and served blind. Towards the end of a long night so formal notes sketchy but what stands out is how smooth, silky and balanced this wine is. Nice fruit and finish.

Very pleasant Cali CS but I was not "amazed" and therefore a bit disappointed. Kind of linear and simple for me.

Love, love, love this wine. It has settled into an early-life now. Great nose of cassis, cherries, spice and slight earth. So smooth to drink. From the attack thru the finish, there is balance and no bite. Layered complexity. Long finish. Fantastic. No hurry on this. Drank over two nights with no degradation.

Purchased these on release...and I'm just now tasting this for the first time ever! WOW...I've been missing out! This wine is SO fantastic, and somewhat unique in the world of the Ca Cabernet......dark glycerin berry fruit...wild liqueur berry fruit....not too sweet, but plenty of ripeness to go along with the silky yet firm, dusty graphite powder dry tannin....an amazingly pure smooth texture, but still quite youthful and fit. Tasty flavors of mocha, licorice, creme de cassis, spice box, smoked wood, green tobacco leaves....all impeccably balanced...plenty of life left too. Where have you been all my life baby?!!! Awesome!

Darkest fruit notes of the 4 2007 cali cabs had together. Notes of cassis, black currant, cocoa and some spice. Displaying some serious structure. This should get better with more time in the bottle. Delicious!

2007 California Cabernets (Casa de Cove): This was drank with 07 Anderson's Conn Reserve, 07 Insignia and 07 Antica Cabernet. This wine is classy and well polished. Dark cocoa powder, black current, a little plum and supporting oak. Layered and heavily textured with a long finish. Top to bottom the wine delivered and was the wine of the evening for me. I believe it had a 6-7 hour decant. Thanks for sharing a great bottle Ken.

Had with an 08 Morlet and 07 two hands Shiraz. Outclassed them.

Very even, full bodies wine. Complex tannins, but not overpowering. Red fruit on the nose and palate

This really great Napa cab is starting to strut its stuff. Layers and layers of complexity... all sorts of stuff, some meatiness, some leather backed by really great fruit. Super long finish really nicely balanced. There is definitely some oak present but it was complementary.

Licorice, truffle, smoke, fresh brewed espresso and blackberry aromas pair perfectly with the polished, silky textures and rich, fresh, sweet, black cherry and ripe boysenberries found in the finish. This wine will definitely improve with a few years of bottle age. This is a really nice style of California Cabernet Sauvignon.

Nice wine but seemed a bit one dimensional. Possibly drinking it too cold as i was moving wine around in the cellar while drinking it. No heat to speak of. Nice floral nose with a mouthfeel of lots of berries, plums and other big fruits. I get the feeling this will improve a bunch more. I plan to hold my last bottle for a good amount of time. QPR not so good but then again we're talking Napa so maybe it's priced in the right price point.

Bit torn and primarily because of the price. This is a classic profile nice and respectable CA Cab. Its well integrated, well balanced and nicely complex with a lot going on in the glass that all makes sense.
Really its a lovely bottle.

Just can't get past thinking this was meant to be the next screeagle and its certainly not that.

Bottom line: Like it but not gushing love. This has a while to go as no bricking and has what it takes to continue it's development.

This cali cab is pure class. Really closed upon opening, but was nicely expressive after a couple hours in the glass. Quite structured with prominent but polished tannins. Black currant and blackberry liqueur flavor profile, with a vibrant and expressive mid palate. Finish adds a hint of mint, loam, cocoa, and repeating slightly sweet fruit profile. An elegant, balanced, and powerful Cali cab that is purely rooted in Napa. Very concentrated and structured, needing several more years.

Not nearly so high on this wine second time around, its huge, tons of fruit, tons of alcohol, with the alcohol winning at the moment. Am concerned, these are not cheap. Not sure it will sort itself out with age either. This helps with my buying decision for the 2010.
