Large scale, no obvious flaws, holding up well, but comes up short in the fruit department.

Good merlot had cassis aromas medium tannins. A bit earthy and leathery. I liked better than Colleen.

My last bottle . . . I'll miss this wine. Wonderfully balanced wine, with great fruit and a nice amount of oak. Very youthful. Reminded me of a Kistler Cuvee Cathleen, which I drank around the same time.

Certainly more nuanced than the '03, which behaves much more like a cab than a Merlot. In this new vintage, the beautiful fruit drives the wine but not in a jammy or overwhelming way. Full bodied. Blueberries. A touch of spiciness. Oak that enriches rather than overpowers. Would kick butt with salmon and pork.

In the mindts of the dot.com boom, a "virtual vineyard" appeared called Teatown Cellars. Unlike most of the busts that ensued from the boom, this wine is not one of them. A golden color with lovely body, this Chardonnay really comes together with notes of orange blossom and honey. Not over-oaked, the wine has hit its stride and is drinking well. A perfect spring sipper for an outdoor dinner party!
