Wonderful. Rich, dark and heavily extracted. Good structure and a long finish.

Past peak. Not unpleasant but, perhaps, better to use in cooking at this point.

Very little of anything on the nose or palate. Not bad just bland and relatively tasteless.

Purchased in April 2010 during visit to winery, honeymoon in Mendoza. Drank sometime in 2013/2014 in San Francisco. Big Malbec, ripe, writing tasting note year after drank so can't say much more than that.

Majestic and dominant wine. In the nose cedar, leather, wet stone. In th mouth red berries, pepper, oriental spices. The texture is quite smooth, but there is a little aggressive part in it. Perhaps it still is a little young.

Tastes like an over extracted, full bodied Bordeaux. No terroir. The travelling oenologist Michel Rolland has struck again.

Wine Education Service - Argentina: Almost black, opaque, very youthful.
Dark sweet fruit, a complex nose.
Very fruity, very tannic, unbalanced, tasting hot with alcohol, much too young, quite long.

nice balance and complexity, great tannins. Its very fruity with a touch of vanilla and cedar box. A nice touch of spice as well. I was surprise to see the level of alcool, but it is felt a bit more after a day of opening.

Popped and poured and was rather weird tasting, seemed to be spoofilated or off. Put a cork in it and tried again 3 nights later. Much better with soft fruit, earthy tones and no heat.
Not a blockbuster but am glad I didnt dump down drain.

At peak now, a relatively full bodied malbec blend with plenty of black fruit and smooth tannins. Very pleasant overall. I wouldn't hold too much longer though.

On the palate, plum and black currant with silky tannins and a medium-length finish. Detected flavor degradation only 12 hrs after opening; so, I would drink now. Not a bad wine, but there are much better Argentine wines for the price. After 24 hrs., the flavor degradation was pronounced. Definitely consume now.

Second bottle behind a 2005 Carver Sutro Petite Syrah. Plenty of black fruit from what I remember, smooth rounded tannins, nice medium to full finish. I've always had good experience with this label, and would not expect anything less from the Michel Rolland group. Pop and pour.

If ever a wine was perfect for a meal this was the wine and steak and potatoes was the meal ... Seems like a simple meal to pair, but the wine found a harmony with what was on the plate. The nose was leathery, spicy with cassis and blackberry notes ... the palate overwhelmed at first but then toned itself back (within 15 minutes) and began offering up exactly what was needed. Started with a big spice and hits of pepper but then turned into a lovely smooth wine that brought out the dark fruit and cocoa all lined with just the right amount of spice ... this was a very enjoyable wine with great flavours. Through all the bad publicity he gets Michel Rolland seems to know what he is doing. I also see I have a bottle of the 2003 vintage of this wine, I'll have to try it in the next few weeks to see if it too has got the stuffing or if it's falling apart. For now, this 2006 is the bomb - a great wine that has hit it's stride for a big meaty meal.

Glad I waited almost 2 years from last bottle. The dry finish is smoothed out and the leathery but smoky fruit is balanced with sense of elegance. I'll finish off my last bottle this year: its ready.

Due to the affiliation with Leoville Poyferre, I had to test out this wine. Double decanted 2.5 hours prior to service, followed in the glass for an additional 2 hours. Deep, dark purple in the glass, with full body. Interesting, perfumed nose of licorice, florals, specifically lavender, blueberry pie, chocolate, vanilla, with hints of earth and graphite. There is heavy oak treatment (15 months in French oak barrels) at play here, but it is tastefully done. On the palate, made in boisterous, extracted style, showing a rich, plush mouthfeel. There are some mild fine grained tannin pressent, along with a hefty dose of acidity, which helps balance out the ripeness of fruit. Notes of sweet licorice, vanilla and flowers dominate the moderate length finish, that shows the slightest bit of heat, suggesting that this wine actually hides it's alcohol rather well at 15%. Certainly an interesting wine to try, but does not offer good value, and would not be something I'd purchase again.

Been holding into this since 2007. Was too tannic and alcohol heavy back then but now this is very good
Still has a lot of the fruit there. Dark and deep in both colour and flavour
Community drinking window is off. This should still hold out for another few years. Not sure whether it'll develop much more but wish I had a couple more bottles to find out.

Decanted. Oak and black fruit on the nose. More black fruit on the palate. Good acidic balance. Nice grip to the soft tannins with a medium-long finish. I liked this bottle and would try more.
