1998 Cameron Hughes Lot 25 Carneros (USA, California, Sonoma County, Carneros) 6/11/2009dmatley91

Tasted as fresh and bright as when I first tasted this wine a few years ago. Great acidity and depth. I noticed some bottle variation with this but this particular bottle was a real winner. (1280 views)

1998 Cameron Hughes Lot 25 Carneros (USA, California, Sonoma County, Carneros) 1/1/2009Cabfrancophile89

Very nutty nose consistent with an aged sparkler. Not a ton of bubbles, but bubbles are small and delicate. Not rock bottom dry, but at a nice point. Delicious stuff. (1613 views)

1998 Cameron Hughes Lot 25 Carneros (USA, California, Sonoma County, Carneros) 11/9/2008hudamang88

I consumed this in a white wine glass. There was sweet apples on the palate. The after taste left a very apparant apple cider taste. Not a lot of bubbles but high acidity. The bottle looks like the Frank Family "champagne"...same bottle type...Hmmmmm.... (1786 views)

1998 Cameron Hughes Lot 25 Carneros (USA, California, Sonoma County, Carneros) 6/22/2008slaton89

A more mature golden color than many previous bottles. Showing some secondary aged type aromas on the nose, slightly musty, very small amount of bubbles. Palate shows mostly big-shouldered red pinot noir fruit and autolytic flavors, with a slightly nutty, oxidative sheen. My last bottle; the variation in these has been crazy, but most have been pleasing. (2048 views)

1998 Cameron Hughes Lot 25 Carneros (USA, California, Sonoma County, Carneros) 5/25/2008SDWineLovers89

This is a great sparkling wine. Aromas of oak, vanilla and caramel. This wine has light flavors of stone fruit topped off with oakey vanilla, caramel and green apple. Just when you expect it to hit your palate with sweetness, it rolls into the finish with a pleasant caramel, green apple taste with a hint of dryness. Cameron Hughes has proved himself again. Will definitely buy again before this lot is gone. CP. (2136 views)

N.V. Marietta Cellars Old Vine Red Lot Number 25 (USA, California)5/11/2008vjdinmd

Held up well. After decanting the flavors were still there. Good nose, good black cherry and smooth finish. Lots of sludge though :-) (249 views)

1998 Cameron Hughes Lot 25 Carneros (USA, California, Sonoma County, Carneros) 2/1/2008jfp90

Sticky mousse and fine bubbles with a medium gold color. This is quite bready and has a tangy granny smith apple aroma and flavor on the front end. Gravel comes out in the middle. A very smooth texture on the palate is balanced against clearly defined acidity. Considering the '98 vintage for the bulk of this sparkler, it's going strong at ~10 years. No evidence of decline. Overall, great stuff! At $21, this is a good value. (2594 views)

After several corked or off bottles of this in the last couple of months, this was a very nice example and a great crowd pleaser. (2836 views)

1998 Cameron Hughes Lot 25 Carneros (USA, California, Sonoma County, Carneros) 12/31/2007realale

Drinking really well. Only sign of its age is the somewhat reticent carbonation. Nicely balanced between somewhat rich fruit and bracing acidity. Certainly hangs with most California upmarket bubbly. (2752 views)

I agree with most everything posted here. Shared this with friends at home, we opened a Prosecco first and just felt like more bubbles so we popped this. Everyone enjoyed this bubbly, definitely some yeast qualities which I liked, all-in-all a decent bottle. Many posters think the $22 price is a good value, I am not so sure but I don't drink that much Cali Sparkling b/c I can get good Cava for $11. (2787 views)
