2004 Tablas Creek Côtes de Tablas (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles) 2/7/2010twojcicki85

Decent wine. Not too complex but well balanced...maybe on the high side in terms of the alcohol. Probably reaching end of it's life. Fruit, some spiciness, decent acidity and soft tannins. Soft mouthfeel, medium fruit finish. Drank it with lamb in hollandaise sauce. (61 views)

2002 Tablas Creek Las Tablas Estates Glenrose Vineyard (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles) 2/7/2010David J Cooper

Deep red. Earthy raspberry, flowers and pepper nose. A bit of sweetness. Nice balanced finish. I really liked this wine, the best wine I've had from Tablas Creek. (40 views)

decanted for 2 hours, aroma of new leather, mint, dark berries/ carries on with dark berry and chocolate, tobacco and drying tannin on the finish. Tastes great now, will definately improve, went great with food, beef short rib ragu over pappardelle. (24 views)

2004 Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel Blanc (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles) 2/6/2010Hazeo89

From a 375. At an excellent stage to drink, nice and round with a slightly oily texture, lemon, minerals. Very nice, but still feel there's a bitter edge to the finish. (50 views)

2006 Tablas Creek Côtes de Tablas (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles) 2/3/2010jorgerunfast89

Not-so-old-not-so-rich blind tasting 1 (Jorge's apartment): Obviously a Rhone blend with classical characteristics. Nose of black pepper and spice with fruit peaking out. Had similar qualities to the Rasmussen Petite Sirah. Complex wine, with some notable extraction of fruit. Nice on the palate, a little light on the finish. It paled next to the Rasmussen and I felt the Talley was also significantly better as well. (65 views)

2003 Tablas Creek Esprit de Beaucastel (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles) 2/5/2010markjahnke

This too was popped and poured tonight as there was no time to decant, and again, this wine could definitely benefit from a 1-4 hour decant in my humble opinion. This dark color in the glass, and a great Chateaunuef-du-Pape like nose. Another floral nose, with some good earthy aspects and spice to it. The fruit profile consisted of plum and black cherry, with hints of black licorice, and a hint of pencil lead. On the palate, this wine still seemed pretty tight to me, but opened up over the course of an hour and a half to two hours. Nice dark fruits on the palate ranging from sour cherry to blackberry, with a nice spice and subtle hints of leather. The alcohol seemed to be integrated nicely, with a nice acidity. The finish still seemed tight, but that just proves that this wine has some years left in the bottle, and is only going to get better. Regardless, a nice bottle of wine that has unlimited potential, and leave it to Tablas Creek to bring a little taste of Rhone to the United States. I'd hold these another 1-3 years before revisiting, but in that time frame, I think it is going to evolve nicely! Special thanks to Tom246 and DW for bringing this wine tonight from their cellar. Cheers! (144 views)

2007 Tablas Creek Côtes de Tablas (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles) 2/4/2010wicozani86

Really very disappointing to me, given its superb rating. While technically well-made, it is cold and calculating, with none of the terroir or spiciness that its namesake syrah-based Rhone Valley wines typically have. Little evidence of oak treatment, there was also no memorable attack through the mid-palate, and the finish was quite generic and short. Notably sweet, this was not a very inspiring match with spicy barbequed pork country-style ribs. (180 views)

2005 Tablas Creek Roussanne (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles) 2/5/2010aktormedic

I don't understand the appeal of these wines. There is not much on the nose, and the flavors are so subtle as to not be there. The minerality is nice, but even this hard core mineral head wanted more than rubbing alcohol and rocks in this wine. (83 views)

2003 Tablas Creek Mourvedre (USA, California, Central Coast, Paso Robles) 1/28/2010up4wine86

Good Rhone style wine, but I kept thinking why didn't they blend it with Grenache and Syrah. The Mourvedre had some trouble standing on its own. There was appropriate acid and tannin, but it could have used more fruit. (61 views)

Closed initially, but opened within about 10 minutes. Somewhat neutral flavour (rose pedals perhaps?), but great weight/ mouthfeel. Went great with cheese. 1 week later, its even better. There is a honeyed richness here, but its not sweet. (113 views)
