Locale: Midlothian, Virginia, USA
Favorite region: Fine examples can be found, anywhere wine is made.
Dream wine: 1947 Cheval Blanc, 1961 Petrus to name just a few.
Grew up in Dartmouth, MA, moved to VA in the late 70's. Discovered wine by chance in the early 1980's thanks in part, to the Richmond Wine Society, who taught me that wine and friends go together. I try to seek out the best wines I can afford from every wine growing region and have put together a modest, eclectic cellar which is kept at 54 degrees. As I truly believe, that as with most things, variety is the spice of life. I enjoy every type of wine from the rich jammy Aussie's, extracted, ripe California Cabernet's, to the meaty, earthy old world reds.
(Below is me next to 110 year old Zinfandel vines, located in the Sierra Nevada region of California in early spring)
On my tasting notes: it is worth noting that my tasting notes are based on my high school grading experience, which is for my personal use, based on that bottle, that night and most importantly that nights palate. I do not rate wines under 80 as I believe that anything under an 80 score is a flawed wine either by bacteria, storage, transportation or the lack of passion for winemaking by the given producer! 12/11/2016 10:53:00 AM - winshaman, I am glad to see that you post tasting notes. Too often members score wines without comments. Scores without comments are not helpful. I am also interested in the Richmond Wine Society. I am live in the Richmond Area.
