Nice, fresh, lifted black fruit on the nose, with perfume and gravelly, stony-mineral character. Pleasing texture; ripe, succulent, almost creamy edge, with supple tannins and correct acidity. Really pleasant, well managed extract. There is good drinking potential here. A success! 16.5 points

AA fresh, blood-orange nose. A clean, fresh, lighter wine, but with some decent botrytis character. Quite floral, still showing some oak. Crisp style, as refreshing and pure as morning dew. Good. Although it doesn't have the weight or impact one might look for in this vintage, but in my experience this is the Bastor-Lamontagne style. 16 points

Subtle, rather muted on the nose. Not brimming with texture or character on the palate, and showing very firm, prominent tannins too. Decent weight, and rather firm acidity, but really all structure and little else at present. Brawny style. Merely quite good. 14.5 points

Exotic nose of sweet black plums with a little chocolate. Full, ripe, quite creamy. Well balanced and supple, with a firm but not obvious backbone of grippy tannins. Roast nut, plum and black berry fruit finish. Ripe, well structured wine. Very good. 16+ points

Lovely nose here, showing some exotic, plummy fruitcake character. Cool, stylish entry. rather firm presence on the palate, less, textured and opulent than the nose suggested. But it has a pleasing elegance. Ripe, integrated, slightly brawny. Grippy finish. Good style here. 16 points

Ripe, pressed blackcurrant nose, with a suggestion of creamy white chocolate. Ripe, restrained, but succulent and appealing. Plenty of elegantly styles fruit. Firm tannin, firm acidity too, altogether nice structure, texture a little creamy. Not quite the substance I might have hoped for. But should drink well. 15.5+ points

A blend of Grenache and Maccabeu. This wine has a rich, golden hue, with a nose of honey and wild garrigue which is quite intriguing. A lovely palate ensues, quite perfumed and delicate, yet rich and refined. Mineral elements provide interest. This has a simply beautiful style. Excellent. 18.5 points

A blend of Grenache and Maccabeu again. This has a much deeper, golden-orange hue, with plenty of honey and wood character on the nose. Refined, reserved, maturing style on the palate, with some lovely honey and nut character. Rather oak-influenced, but still very attractive, and certainly very expressive. Excellent wine. 18.5 points

This is a blend of 80% Viognier and 20% Sauvignon Blanc; bottled January 2005. It has a lovely and very typical nose of peaches and pine kernels. On the palate, moderate weight, with nicely balancing acidity. This is pretty and stylish. Very good. 16.6 points

Not very expressive, but with sweet, blackcurranty fruit on the nose. Attractive palate. Restrained, elegant, with appealing texture. The acidity is a little low, and there is quite a show of tannins. Again this should show some improvement in the cellar. 15.5+ points

Quite an oak-dominated nose here. The same is true on the palate, which although big, sweet and opulent is still swamped with oak. Lacks overt character and freshness. 14.5 points

Rather dense, brawny fruit. Muted, macerated black cherry fruit. Ripe, with soft acidity. Lots of (over-)extracted character, light texture, low acidity, showing the heat of the vintage for sure. Completely out of kilter. 14 points

A nose of blackberries and butter here, indicating a very ripe fruit profile with some residual oak influence. Full and moderately creamy style on the palate, with decent tannins, which are ripe and nicely composed. There is decent acidity and blackberry fruit. This has a supple, attractive style. Rather good. Has potential. 16+ points

Attractive, rather floral nose, showing mineral character, with a little cordite and gunpowder minerality. But the palate disappoints; rather fat, lacking in acidity and freshness. That mineral character found on the nose is nowhere to be seen. One to avoid. 12 points

From a half bottle. Powerful minerality on the nose; notes of cordite and crushed rocks. Beautiful palate; balanced yet rich, honeyed, but showing that super stony, rocky minerality found on the nose. Apricots, cream, notes of pineapple and citrus. Shows grip and structure too. Pretty impressive length. Wonderful. Drinking now, but should be fine for a decade in the cellar at least. 18 points

Great nose, really fresh and firm. On the palate this wine shows plenty of structure, with some firm grip, and a lovely weighty, notable presence on the palate. This is countered by fresh acidity and a firm, upright texture. Delicious, structured stuff. Drink now and over the next few years. 17 points

A subtle and yet rather exotic character to the nose here, with a peppery quality. There is finesse here; this has an elegant style on the palate, with just a creamy edge to it. There are firm, rather masculine tannins although quite well knitted into the structure of the wine. Very firm, appealing style which has been really well assembled. Lots of potential here. 17+ points

This has more interest than the Carbonnieux on the nose, with more obvious minerally fruit. But the palate is soft, unfocused and flabby. There is some grip to it, but the acidity, and the verve, is lacking. Another to avoid. 12.5 points

A dense, quite powerful, masculine nose, showing ripe, brawny, exotic, macerated cherry fruit, with a nutty element of unresolved oak. Firm, structured palate, with not a lot of character. Rather ripe, grippy but prominent tannins give a firm structured feel to the palate. Decent acidity. Good. 15 points

A lovely nose, of mint-scented botrytis character. A huge palate, showing massive opulence, but balanced out by good acidity. Plump, with delightful fresh white fruits, wrapped in some residual oak and botrytis-quince flavour. That minty character is there too. This has a beautiful presence on the palate, terminating in a clean and fresh finish. A success! 18.5 points

A seductive nose of ripe blackcurrant fruits and exotic spices. This has real appeal. Elegance, restraint and balance in abundance on the palate. This has a soft, slightly plush texture, moderate weight, and a fine tannic structure. A wine of quality here. A success. 17+ points

This is 60% Carignan, the balance being 20% each Grenache and Syrah, harvested between 17th and 24th September. Half the fruit has been fermented using maceration carbonique, bottled unfiltered and without sulphur. This has great style on the nose, showing a pure, elegant style which I really admire. Similar elegance on the palate, a firm and grippy structure overlaid with smooth and creamy fruit. There is a fine persistence of character here, and this is undoubtedly my favourite wine of this tasting. 17+ points

A cuvée of 100% Muscat, harvested by hand on August 28th. This has a very typical, aromatic nose and yet is surprisingly full, grippy and structured on the palate, presenting a very firm, not flowery, style. There is even a little tannin here helping to create this very masculine mouthfeel. Lovely style, just let down a little by the short finish. 16 points

A blend of 50% Grenache with Carignan and Syrah, all three varieties fermented together in used barrels between two and four years old. Marc uses no sulphur, trusting batonnage of the lees to protect his wine, which has an appealing nose of dark berry fruit, although still showing some unresolved, rather buttery oak. Full and creamy palate, with firm tannins showing through the midpalate, but with an attractive elegance as well. Lovely, spicy character and a coating finish. Very good indeed. 16.5+ points

A super ripe nose here, of exotic dark fruits. Full on fruit on the palate, although only moderate weight, a little creamy on entry, but then loses it through the midpalate. Seems attenuated. Over-extracted again? Piles of tannin here also. 15 points
