Big, dark fruit—probably the biggest of the Novy Syrahs that we have had. Thick and rich, but still refined and balanced. We enjoyed this with oxtail stew at our “new” local BYOB, the Blue Cat. Excellent. 89-91 Points. |

The blackberry, anise, spice and pepper are in the front of the flavors with a touch of oak showing up. Smooth tannins in the long finish. No sign of decline. |

Still a lot of flavor with mainly black fruits, spice, black pepper, espresso, and black cherry flavors .Very well balanced with soft tannins in the long finish. Showing really well now. |

6/17/2022 - ken@ampy.com Likes this wine: 91 pointsCork Crumbled. Heavy sediment. No ullage despite the cork issues. Dug the cork out and poured thru a Kurig filter to trap the cork pieces. The wine itself was very good, no signs of age, a typical Syrah. Full bodied, aromatic with a medium long finish. The 15.1% alch. probably helped it age well. Wish I had more but that was a singleton which escaped notice until yesterday. A very enjoyable wine. Drink up if have any. |

Neutral to bitter on the palate, woody, drying tannin with some fruit paste...dates, boysenberry. Corking may blow off after some air...will update. On day two + under vac-u-vin the corking was still there, but after a few minutes blew off and really fleshed out....fruit is sweeter, with blacks at the fore. Much better than the first day. If you can let the cork blow off, this is drinking fine. |

I anticipated a spicier version but this wine is more fruit-oriented. Short finish. |

PNP at Hong Kong Chinese Restaurant, Hillcrest, San Diego, Ca. A short decant would probably be in order as the wine did improve in the glass. Not going over the hill anytime soon, showing no signs of age. This bottle enjoyed perfect storage so keep that in mind when assessing my rating. I have 1 more bottle...Maybe try it with a Steak or Italian soon. |
