Right after opening it showed the oxidative and ripe mellow apple notes, that I usually connect with PJK wines and that I don't like. During the tasting, it was a completely different wine and the first Schlehdorn I really liked! Clea, pale golden color. A bit freaky nose, some acacia, floral notes. Complex and deep. On the palate very precise, mineral, nice energy and tension, fine herbs, some red fruit. Long and still young. 94+ Do you find this review helpful? Yes - No / Comment

I was flashed from this vintage right after release and had high hopes. Not as exiting as expected, but very good. Clear, medium golden color. Fine, fruity, dense nose. After swirling in the glass and smelling again, tobacco and smoky notes merge with the underlying fruit associations of pear and peach. Ginger, mint and a subtle stony minerality with still a few yeasty notes complete this beautiful overall aromatic composition. The palate is juicy, dense and profound with rather subtle yellow fruit and a clear sweet core. The wine then becomes extraordinarily tobacco, smoky and mineral with notes of green tea, all underpinned by a fine acid nerve and fine tannins. The long-lasting, salty finish is extremely remarkable. An excellent wine that combines drinking pleasure with sophistication. 1 person found this helpful, do you? Yes - No / Comment

The finish is a bit slender and tapers off a smidgen quicker than I might like in an ideal world but riesling freaks like me should still thoroughly enjoy this wine in its current state as well as down the road (I will say though that for the time being, I prefer the 2020 vintage as it is far more expressive). On the nose there are clear signs of tertiary evolution, a mushroomy note, not yet fully to the foreground, and which became more elegant and better integrated with the rest on the second and third day. The fruit is essentially gone, also on the palate, which has a certain roundness and firm minerality. Again, not at its best on day one, but better on the last day, when it became more nuanced, the acidity was felt more, especially on the finish, where a grapefruit note emerged. Opened an hour before dinner. Nice Riesling nose with apricot, lemon zest and a suggestion of petrol, on the palate high acidity, nearly dry, a saline touch, dense and a good length with a hint of a nice citric bitterness. Nose: completely closed Acidity not well integrated at all, especially unpleasant at the finish (almost bitter apple cider esque). this did not improve with air or temperature. probably an off bottle of an otherwise very consistent and commendable estate.
