Det var en to timers reise i ulike smaker, så å bedømme den ut i fra et statisk tidspunkt, ville ikke blitt riktig. Vinen åpner seg først ordentlig etter 1,5 time. Nyansene i den brente duften er interessante og det er først mot slutten av smakingen at det lukter eik. Når den åpner seg blir også syren mer merkbar og det kommer en lett sødme. |

A very good Rioja that has matured well. Drink now or over the next ten years. Goes well with beef, duck, lamb or pork. |

It has all the trademark feminine, Burgundian elegance but the fruit is warm and still halfway between youthful ripeness and its autumnal stage. But I *think* we found all the charms of aging red LdH here with ample dark red fruits, strawberry compote and spice. It kind of swung in and out of being fleshy and reserved. Where LdH can have a lot of variation, this was an excellent bottle. |

At least 3 years in used American oak and 3 years in bottle before release. Moderately expressive nose of bright red fruit and balsamic, tobacco, mild oak notes. The palate is more expressive with medium-light bodied and tangy red fruit, a touch of vanilla and no hard edges. Easy to drink. Great with food. Relatively low alcohol at 13.5%. This reminds me more of Chianti than most modern Rioja today. Not yet on tertiary notes, so still has time to age. |
