Tasted double blind from small capped bottles as part of a zoom tasting. Dark w molassss and some rancio. Figs and kumquats. Palate has nice sweetness with some tangeine and marmalade, spices, molasses and apricots. Finish is a bit simple and maybe some heat but tasty. Nose - 4.5-5/6, Palate - 5/6, Finish - 4.5-5/6, Je ne Sais Quoi - 1/2 = 15-16/20.

Generously shared by Sri. Beautiful dessert wine. Like a Sauternes but with more acidity. Honey, apricot, honeysuckle and hay with really nice structure. One of the better dessert wines I have ever tried.

Everything about this wine can be summed up with “intense” from its color to its length on the palate. The deep golden color captures the eye. The nose explodes with honeysuckle, honey, orange blossom, tangerine, lanolin, white grapefruit, ginger, anise …. It just goes on and on. The notes glide across the palate with an intensity as the acidity holds the RS in check. This is not a bottle to sit down and kill over dinner (or a single course unless you are pouring for guests). A glass or two will suffice. 12% alc. With ramen noodle, bok choy-ginger pork soup; Asian with a bit of spice. 03.10.24. Recommended.

Less silver moon and more toward a harvest moon color in the glass. The nose is rich and inviting with elderflower, orange blossoms, wet slate, lanolin, white grapefruit and a touch of diesel. “Round mouthfeel” barely begins to describe the weight of this wine. This wine has heft and rolls like mercury across the palate. Everything is in place. This is a wine that always punches above it class. 13% alc. With shrimp and pasta in a cream sauce. 03.07.24. Recommended.

Yellow brownish and over the hill and oxidized but undeniably Chenin with honeyed waxy fruit shining through the nutty oxidation. While heading downhill, this was still drinkable if you like the oxidized style and could have passed for a natural wine of that type in a blind tasting. Not what it should have been but still a bit interesting.

A private lunch (Restaurant De Lage Vuursche, Lage Vuursche, NL): Screwcap. Wonderfully glossy ripe fruit, lovely varietal expression, apple and peach, honeysuckle, spicy minerality, silky texture, good weight, soft but fresh, convincing finish, very good resonance and length. Seamless and stylish.

Great wine, needs some time to open up. Great complexity and tension.
Ripe yellow apple, blossom, green apple peel, marzipan, lemonzest, honey. Salinity and integrated acids create a beautiful tension. Some pollen like structure. Med+ body and med+ intensity, long aftertaste. Could age for some more years.

Drinking nicely at age 9. Still looks like a youngster. Beeswax nose. Graceful and well-balanced palate that finishes long and full. Excellent. 5-13-16-8: 92/100.

Very dry and sharp as opposed to the creamier style I normally prefer. That said, I enjoyed this and would buy more at $30 (NZ).

My first Savennieres, at least for a very long time. Probably still quite young, it was bone dry but only had little sense of floral beeswax/lanolin that I understand comes with ageing this form of Chenin Blanc. Certainly lighter than some South African examples like De Morgenzen that we have tried. Keep.

Drank at Uncle Ned's OBTN, supplied by Mandy. Yellowish-gold in color. Nose of honey, peaches and quince. Fairly unctuous in weight but not fat or clunky, with exuberant amount of honey, apricot, quince & fig. Solid acidic core, great complexity & richness, and not too sweet. In fact, I'd call this off-dry. Loved this bottle!
